Super Bell Subway, N64 Ranbow Road, Toad Harbor, Mario Kart Stadium, and Toad Turnpike all take place in TOAD CITY, this confirmed by the map seen in the subway.
That means that Melody Motorway (Music Park) and Yoshi Valley aren’t very far from Toad City as trains run to and from these location quite quickly, as shown on the timetables
Would moonview highway also be in toad city? Also, I’m unsure if mushroom city and mushroom bridge are part of a different city altogether or just another borough of toad city.
7:30 I know it's hardly noticeable, but Electrodrome isn't just one nightclub but rather an entire city. You can see numerous buildings surrounding you and there is also no ceiling, just a nightsky with the visible moon. It may be true that Electrodrome is a part of Neo Bowser City though
@@algotkristoffersson15nonetheless if paired with the map that was made in the other video, it could provide more insight. Wouldn’t go as far as to call that “confirmed canonically” though.
small correction but electrodrome actually takes place outside the club's exterior! you can tell because you can see the moon and buildings in certain parts of the map
Sunshine airport isn't exactly on Isle Delfino, but instead is the airport that took Mario, Peach, Toadsworth and some Toads to it. Also, the Koopa Beach in the background suggest it is nearby the N64 track (and maybe even the SNES Koopa Beaches)
I don't see why there'd be a Shine Sprite themed airport in the Mushroom Kingdom. I just think it's in Ilse Delphino and it has been updated since Mario Sunshine.
Interesting video! Something I never gave much thought to but definitely neat to think about. One thing to note: I am very surprised you so quickly dismissed the Wario-Water Park connection. While it may seem improbable or strange, Water Park is definitely a Wario-themed course, at least to an extent. Someone else already mentioned the big W logo as bearing Wario's mustache, but there is also an attraction called "Waluigi Sea bed" to the left of the starting area. You can see it if you pause the video at around 1:52. As for Thwomp Ruins, all that comes to mind for me is Whomp's Domino Ruins from Super Mario Party. Not sure if Sweet Sweet Canyon is outside of the Mario world, but it looks like some kind of joint effort between Peach and Daisy, based on the decorations/logos and such. And if you're going to make connection to Super Mario Galaxy, maybe Cloudtop Cruise is set in Gusty Garden Galaxy? The theming and music seem to reference it heavily.
The possibility of Dragon Driftway taking place in the Chai Kingdom is actually really exciting. But speaking of Sarasaland, Shyguy falls could take place in the Easton Kingdom as the 2nd level and parts of the 3rd heavily feature waterfalls and caves within rocky locations, and based on the cover art of the game, would be the mountains. Plus, Daisy and shyguys have this sort of weird connection to each other
My theory for Wild Woods was somewhere near the Somnom woods from Mario & Luigi Dream Team. There's no definitive proof or anything, but I get the same general vibe from the two locations.
Ah ye!!! I love Mario kart for this! I used to be much more active in a subreddit called "Marioverse" and there was a lotta discussion about this stuff! Also, for Sunshine Airport, you can see the Rock from the old N64 Koopa... Beach? Koopa Circuit? So, I always assume that it is on or around the Turtle shaped island we see to the east of Isle Delfino?
It's N64 Koopa Troopa Beach, and yeah, said Koopa rock can be clearly seen in the background at 5:48. Although I don't think the island itself is an exact match from the one in Mario Kart 64, judging by the shape, lack of stone walls, and abundance of grass. Maybe they got the same stone carver that did the statue in N64 Koopa Troopa Beach to make a replica on another island.
For the F-Zero universe, FZ GP Legend actually reveals that Mute City is New York in the future. So that one is an AU of a real-life location! FZGPL also suggests Big Blue is its own one of several planets that appeared at some point near Earth.
i would agree, were it not for the scarcity (if not outright non-existence) of mushroom/koopa kingdom enemies in dk games. it would be very strange for the dk part of the world to have one part with tons of mario enemies and then have the rest of the area feature none at all
I'm pretty sure Miyamoto confirmed something to this effect. Basically, every Mario game is a play put on by the cast of characters. It explains why Mario and Bowser will do kart racing and tennis and all that other stuff together.
I think water park is in Wario city from Super sluggers since Nokis can be in both and the W is similar enough that they could be trying to use the Wario w but couldn’t get the rights
When you brought up sweet sweet canyon, I immediately thought of the southeastern island of the petal isles from SMBW. Very dessert themed, has distant mountains, and the other level on the island has what appears to be honey, but we could say it’s orange juice (the thickness could be from sugar, since if you’ve spilled fruit juice or other sugary liquids on the floor, it does tend to stick and become very hard to remove)
Because the map is tilted like this: super bell subway rail map instead of this: super bell Underground Railway it is showing both subway and long distance lines. Which means the stations could be hundreds or even thousands of miles apart.
11:38 I think Ice Ice Outpost might be located by Cool Cool Mountain from Super Mario 64. I know CCM is a location entered through a painting, but you can do the same in Odyssey and they lead to locations you already visited
Shy Guy Falls might be set on Subcon. Worlds 1, 3 and 5 look similar enough. And even Wild Woods might be there too, considering we have giant trees in 5-3 .
Exactly my thoughts. When I saw big cliffs with straight falling waterfalls I immediately thought SMB2 1-1. Also because it's where you first meet Shyguys
Now this is the type of world building I like to think about when it comes to the Mario Series. It makes these tracks feel more lived than just random locations floating in an aimless abyss
13:04 while I agree that this map is completely unreliable, at least we can learn 1 thing from this, Sweet Sweet Canyon is set on Earth. And with that in mind (and the fact it's close to Bone Dry Dunes, but again, this is unreliable), I would set the course in Layer Cake Desert from nsmbU
Not necessarily. Subway maps show how the different train lines connect. Not literal locations. And the train might pass through a warp pipe to get between those locations.
This doesn't really confirm nor deny anything but it's worth noting that Sweet Sweet Canyon is implied to be a creation of Peach and Daisy, since their Royal Patisserie logo is seen all over the track, a giant crown with both their emblems surrounding it is seen on top of the giant cake in the middle of the track, the spectator stands where the gingerbread men are seen are actually bakery packaging and the ocean is made with huge bottles of Princess Orange soda (take a guess who that's made by). I just find the idea that the princesses made a giant desert canyon out of baked goods to be really funny (as an Adventure Time fan though, can't say this is an entirely foreign concept to me)
I would assume the Water Park is meant to be partially underwater, if it panders to Nokis. Especially with the strong shell aesthetic it has. Its either designed by Nokis, or a tourist trap for them. Thwomp Ruins reminds me alot of Thwomp Volcano from Partners in Time. But it may also be closely related to Whomps Domino Ruins from the recent Mario Party game. Potentially both arose in the same area, but its hard to tell how connected Whomps and Thwomps truly are. They share many aesthetics and similar designs, but theres rarely ever any direct correlation between them with in game lore. I would wager Shy Guy falls is somewhere on Yoshis Island. With the only caveat being that most mountains in that island are the toony cylindrical pill-shaped colorful mountains. But its up to you whether thats an artistic liberty, or straight up how the mountains look. There is ONE example as far as I know of oil drilling the Mario Universe. Which was from a album Nintendo commissioned artists to make about Mario and literacy... It was a different time. That album includes a favorite of mine, "Ignorance is Bliss" by Jellyfish, where Bowser is specifically described as an Oil Tycoon, and trying to get fossil fuels out of Dinosaur land, but cannot read his book of spells because he is illiterate. So maybe its a frozen part of Dinosaur Land, which ironically from memory I remember no frozen parts of Super Mario World.
Oooh I love the concept for this video so much! It'd be even more satisfying to mark them down on a Mario world map, I'd love to see that map develop with more and more pins over multiple videos. I know there isn't a reliable map of the mario world to use, but... maybe that's a video project of it's own, lol. I think that Shy Guys Falls is a shoo-in for Yoshi's Island! The large population of Shy Guys is the most direct connection, but even that aside, I think the landscape resembles Yoshi's Island, or at least the surrounding Dinosaur land, quite a lot! Especially in the way it's depicted in Mario World, on the world map. The tall, orange-toned hills and cliffsides with greenery at the top matches up nicely, IMO. There are even prominent waterfalls on that world map! I can think of one desert level with sand as red as that of Bone-Dry Dunes- Tostarena! Perhaps this track takes place somewhere near there, in the Sand Kingdom? There's a connection in the skeletal motif, as well. The Mario land connection with Dragon Driftway is awesome, I didn't know about that one! Love to see that side of the universe enriched a bit. Also, I totally agree with your decision to place Sweet Sweet Canyon near the Sweet Sweet Galaxy! I think that's the right call, and it's fun to think that the more exotic maps can take place way outside their Earth. I agree about the Wild Woods being closest to Wood Kingdom, I could see them being close by at least, even though it's not a perfect match. Boggly Woods feels way too different, IMO... Looking forward to future installments in this!
my theory is that Wild Woods is somewhere at Donkey Kong Island Remember those Ewok Village levels from Donkey Kong Country? The village seen in Wild Woods looks pretty similar. If you want a better look of the Ewok Village, then look at Vine Valley from DKC Returns
Probably on surrounding islands - Isle Delfino is explored in its entirety in Super Mario Sunshine and there’s absolutely no space for any of those tracks on the island.
3:30 Hey, I wonder if Thwomp Ruins is from Thwomp Volcano in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time? That would be so cool, and the only place I could think of! Love these location videos man keep it up.
Always love a good video going into the surprisingly connected lore of Mario Kart 8. Considering that these get referenced in other stuff too like Odyssey and even the movie, I really hope Nintendo adds cool little details like this in the next Mario Kart game too
Shy guy falls, Thwomp ruins, Mario circuit (and wario's gold mine by extension) could take place near sparkling waters from NSMBU. Mainly because the terrain is very similar: big jaged stony plateus with grass on top and several holes and waterfalls troughout
I think Thwomp Ruins could be somewhere near the Cascade Kingdom. Not in the kingdom itself, but relatively close. Maybe somewhere below the kingdom, since it’s on a giant cliff thing in odyssey I’d like to see this for the other games. I think 7 would be interesting, with places like Wario Shipyard, Shy Guy Bazaar, and Wuhu Loop! Well, not that last one. Other games would be awesome too. DS would have some interesting ones. Wild Woods could be near Mondo Woods from Paper Mario Color Splash, or a similar concept. I wasn’t going to bring it up until you mentioned TTYD. Essentially, Kamek made some woods big. If not the same location, it’s certainly feasible that magic was involved. Honeyhive Galaxy also has some large trees, but is too aesthetically different.
8:45 you mention that the red sand in Bone-Dry Ruins isn't seen anywhere else in the Mario world, but isn't it just possible that the sand looks particularly red because the race is taking place near sunset, and would look more like normal yellow-brown sand under regular lighting?
No. It can’t be the lighting because lighting affects the appearance of everything in an area, and the characters remain unaffected. it must therefore be the texture itself that is red.
Personally, I think Sweet Sweet Kingdom is around one of the sugary areas in the Sprixie Kingdom, since there isn’t much evidence the course is in space, and 3D World is the only other Mario game to feature candy-themed levels, IIRC.
8:08 I think this actually could be somewhere in Gusty Garden Galaxy. Why? The Galaxy games are the only time in the series I can think of beanstalks that are that massive floating in the sky, and it also features a giant ? block, which wouldn't be out of place there either. On top of that, the music that plays in a section of the course's theme is that of Gusty Garden Galaxy, which has it pretty set in stone for me.
There is no game that abbreviates to that. If you mean the game in the DS. It’s literally just called “New super Mario Bros” (or NSMB for short.) there is no “DS” in its name
I love these world building videos on Mario and would ADORE to see more videos like this from the Mariokart series. I’d love to know where the nitro courses for Mariokart Tour take place!!
I like to think that those who proposed a racing tournament just somehow found a huge mass of land that had all these biomes, and from there they decided to make a bunch of themed racetracks designed around iconic Mario World themes.
All characters and courses in the DLC were originally created for Mario Kart Tour, but if you're talking about release/reveal dates, you are correct. I won't list every course like this, but for the new ones, there is also Sky-High Sundae and Squeaky Clean Sprint.
I don't think Sweet Sweet Canyon is in Sweet Sweet Galaxy. Mario Wonder has levels like Maw Maw Mouthful and Gnasher Lair that take place in a candy setting and I think that place is more likely
this hits close to home because when i was younger i used to try to make a connected universe with mario kart 8 and super mario odyssey by sorting the tracks by the odyssey kingdoms. (mostly just by aesthetic) sweet sweet kingdom would be in a far corner of the luncheon kingdom and thwomp ruins was in the cascade kingdom because the backgrounds and themes are similar to name a few examples.
Sunshine airport Could also very well be on one of the surrounding islands that are never visited As far as we know they could have their own shines and stuff
For the waterpark, I do agree that it makes sense to be on Isle Delfino, especially with it being a sort of tourist attraction, but the W on the ferris wheel does have a mustache behind that is similar in appearance to Wario’s, plus some of the actual parts of the ferris wheel you ride in are designed after Wario’s clothes, so maybe Wario is a sort of sponsor for the park.
You do make valid points about Sweet Sweet Canyon being in Sweet Sweet Galaxy (like the name as you said), but I do also like the idea of food related tracks being in or around the Lucheon Kingdom
8:09 I think that Cloudtop Cruise is set somewhere in Gusty Garden Galaxy. The music is similar, both have massive vines and are in the clouds. It makes almost prefect sense.
The thwomp ruins could be in rock-candy mines, the color of bricks, form of the mountain and the fact that the course is above clouds remind me of that place
Thwomp Ruins could certainly take place in Super Mario 3D World's location.. presumably somewhere closer to 4-5 Spike's Lost City. The motifs are incredibly similar, an abundances of Thwomps, an expansive ruins location, even the music is sort of built thematically like 3D World's with a mix of Fantom-like synths and real world instrumentation.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star's 5th world is a jungle area. It's called Shy Guy Jungle and it's home to the Chomp Ruins. Maybe Thwomp Ruins are around there too. They have a similar architecture too.
5: 17 I imagine it's location is one of the levels in Mario Bros 2 (US) for the NES, given obviously the shyguys, and the fact that the walls you're actually driving on are cliff faces with water falls, as was the design in Mario Bros 2 (US).
When I was younger I thought Mount Wario was the same location of Winter Sports Champion Race from Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winters Games Sochi 2014
I have a theory that All desert or other dirt/rock/cliff areas, such a Wario's Gold Mine, Wario's Battle Canyon, or Choco Mountain, are part of Sarasaland, since Sarasaland in the original game is filled with desert themes, Srasa is clearly meant to sound like Sahara, even Daisy's castle, at the end looks like Middle Eastern and Persian architecture. Daisy is a Desert Princess. She wear's a distinct sand yellow, comes all the way across the sea on her cruise ship, and the closest thing to a non-desert area, we see associated with here, is basically a Mediterenian village, which is probably just on the very coast of Sarasaland. Daisy was the princess in Super Mario Land, and Wario showed up in Super Mario Land 2. Plus Wario Land was also technically titled: Super Mario Land 3. So it seems Daisy, Wario, and Waluigi, by extension, are all connected. Notice that Wario and Daisy share the same desert yellow color and Wario and Waluigi are always utilizing courses and like dirt bike tracks, gold mines, or in the case of Baseball fields, a literal Arabic palace in an Oasis.
I can think of an explanation for how Moo Moo Meadows and GCN Sherbet Land can be close by to one another. Seasons; It’s clearly winter in Sherbet Land, and spring or summer in Moo Moo Meadows.
8:01 actually the ds version of the first Olympic winter games take place in a unique location in the Mario/sonic universe, so mount wario could totally be a mountain located in the Icepeak mountain range from that game.
Thwomp Ruins probably takes place somewhere on/near Wushu Isl. as its style is almost identical to the style of the Cliffside Ruins you can see in Island Flyover
koopa beach from MK64 is also near sunshine airport since you can see the koopa rock in the distance on the glider section. it’s like how you can see daisy cruiser on peach beach and yoshi circuit in double dash
7:38 This is more of a theory but I think I know where Mount Wario is. In Mario Kart Arcade GP games, each cup has 2 races in the same location/formation, one of them being the Wario Cup with “Diamond City” and “Snow Panic”. I think Diamond City was a location in the WarioWare series, and in “Snow Panic” you briefly take a detour from the city streets to a snowy area under construction. While not confirmed, the completed structure likely became the Mount Wario race track. tldr: Mount Wario is in Diamond City from WarioWare
@@PiantapediaYT,if you listen closer to the Track’s Music & played Super Mario Galaxy, you would know that Cloudtop Cruise is based of Gusty Garden Galaxy!!
If we let the movie be at least partially canon, we can assume they got to other universes through a warp pipe. Obviously, that goes for the World Tour courses set in real world cities.
I think the thwomp one could be in that location of one of the mario and luigi partners in time that was filled with thwomps, I think it was called Thwomp Volcano

3:30 Hey, I wonder if Thwomp Ruins is from Thwomp Volcano in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time? That would be so cool, and the only place I could think of! Love these location videos man keep it up.
Cloudtop cruise and sky garden are 100% related to Nimbus land from Mario RPG
Always love a good video going into the surprisingly connected lore of Mario Kart 8. Considering that these get referenced in other stuff too like Odyssey and even the movie, I really hope Nintendo adds cool little details like this in the next Mario Kart game too
Shy guy falls, Thwomp ruins, Mario circuit (and wario's gold mine by extension) could take place near sparkling waters from NSMBU. Mainly because the terrain is very similar: big jaged stony plateus with grass on top and several holes and waterfalls troughout
Now I want to know where Amsterdam Drift takes place so bad😢
I think Thwomp Ruins could be somewhere near the Cascade Kingdom. Not in the kingdom itself, but relatively close. Maybe somewhere below the kingdom, since it’s on a giant cliff thing in odyssey
I’d like to see this for the other games.
It’s probably in the sand kingdom
Personally, I think Sweet Sweet Kingdom is around one of the sugary areas in the Sprixie Kingdom, since there isn’t much evidence the course is in space, and 3D World is the only other Mario game to feature candy-themed levels, IIRC.
Rainbow road also literally has Earth in the background
8:08 I think this actually could be somewhere in Gusty Garden Galaxy. Why? The Galaxy games are the only time in the series I can think of beanstalks that are that massive floating in the sky, and it also features a giant ? block, which wouldn't be out of place there either. On top of that, the music that plays in a section of the course's theme is that of Gusty Garden Galaxy, which has it pretty set in stone for me.
I figure that Mario Kart Stadium takes place in Mushroom City from Double Dash it also has Wario Colosseum so why not a rival venue
Thwomp Ruins could be connected to the old Thwomp inhabited castles in Chapter 1 of TTYD
"bone-dry dunes has sand too red to be in any mario ga-" WORLD 4. SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD.
Sweet Sweet Canyon could also be in the flower Kingdom. Looks much more like the candy levels there than anything from the Galaxy games
Your videos on these in depth delves make me absurdly happy. Thanks man.
Happy to hear it!
2:38 have you considered that that course could be in the flower kingdom? There are candy-themed levels
Thwomp ruins gives me world 7 NSMBDS vibes
There is no game that abbreviates to that.
If you mean the game in the DS. It’s literally just called “New super Mario Bros” (or NSMB for short.) there is no “DS” in its name
@@algotkristoffersson15 hey asshat, I put DS in there to clarify. Don’t be a dick.
I’d say Thwomp Ruins takes place in Thwomp Volcano from Partners in Time
I love these world building videos on Mario and would ADORE to see more videos like this from the Mariokart series. I’d love to know where the nitro courses for Mariokart Tour take place!!
I like to think that those who proposed a racing tournament just somehow found a huge mass of land that had all these biomes, and from there they decided to make a bunch of themed racetracks designed around iconic Mario World themes.
I don’t think all the booster course pass tracks are retro/tour, but the only one I know for Sure is brand new is Yoshi’s Island
All characters and courses in the DLC were originally created for Mario Kart Tour, but if you're talking about release/reveal dates, you are correct. I won't list every course like this, but for the new ones, there is also Sky-High Sundae and Squeaky Clean Sprint.
@@harrybest2041 whether created for both or not I think release date is what matters here
I don't think Sweet Sweet Canyon is in Sweet Sweet Galaxy. Mario Wonder has levels like Maw Maw Mouthful and Gnasher Lair that take place in a candy setting and I think that place is more likely
I would love to see the older games' locations explored as well.
this hits close to home because when i was younger i used to try to make a connected universe with mario kart 8 and super mario odyssey by sorting the tracks by the odyssey kingdoms. (mostly just by aesthetic) sweet sweet kingdom would be in a far corner of the luncheon kingdom and thwomp ruins was in the cascade kingdom because the backgrounds and themes are similar to name a few examples.
Sunshine airport
Could also very well be on one of the surrounding islands that are never visited
As far as we know they could have their own shines and stuff
Did this dude not look at the backgrounds of courses?
i think bone dry dunes might take place somewhere in Tostarena from super mario Odyssey
I believe Cheese Land is located in the Luncheon Kingdom!
10:16 bro the planet is literally beneath the course what are you on about
The planet is always beneath everything because that’s how down is defined.
@@algotkristoffersson15 why are you like this
The thwomp ruins could be in rock-candy mines, the color of bricks, form of the mountain and the fact that the course is above clouds remind me of that place
You can see some koopa islands of of sunshine airport, so I believe it is near Koopa Beach from Mario Kart 64.
I think the Whomp’s Domino Ruins board from Super Mario Party and Thwomp Ruins from Mario Kart 8 are in the same location.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star's 5th world is a jungle area. It's called Shy Guy Jungle and it's home to the Chomp Ruins. Maybe Thwomp Ruins are around there too.
They have a similar architecture too.
I would LOVE for you to cover the other MK games & their tracks, absolutely! Double Dash especially, would be great!
I’ve always liked videos explaining this. It’s been such an interesting topic.
I always thought Cloudtop Cruise is in Gusty Garden Galaxy from Mario Galaxyor inspired by it.
I can think of an explanation for how Moo Moo Meadows and GCN Sherbet Land can be close by to one another.
Seasons;
It’s clearly winter in Sherbet Land, and spring or summer in Moo Moo Meadows.
8:01 actually the ds version of the first Olympic winter games take place in a unique location in the Mario/sonic universe, so mount wario could totally be a mountain located in the Icepeak mountain range from that game.
Cloudtop cruise has to be near gusty garden galaxy just because the music and bowser's airships
4:52 he’s in Luigi’s mansion too
That was boolossus, who is technically a separate character
7:38 This is more of a theory but I think I know where Mount Wario is. In Mario Kart Arcade GP games, each cup has 2 races in the same location/formation, one of them being the Wario Cup with “Diamond City” and “Snow Panic”. I think Diamond City was a location in the WarioWare series, and in “Snow Panic” you briefly take a detour from the city streets to a snowy area under construction. While not confirmed, the completed structure likely became the Mount Wario race track.
tldr: Mount Wario is in Diamond City from WarioWare
I’m so excited for the retro tracks! Like where is Tick Tock Clock!?
God, how much i love your channel
Thank you!
@@PiantapediaYT,if you listen closer to the Track’s Music & played Super Mario Galaxy, you would know that Cloudtop Cruise is based of Gusty Garden Galaxy!!
The Mario version of Cybershell
I also like to imagine where the tracks could be located. A second part would be good 😊
I honestly thought Sunshine Airport would more likely be the Delfino Airstrip itself after getting renovated into a proper airport.
I keep wondering about this. I like the idea of a cohesive world in the Super Mario Series
Iirc the booster pass actually included a small number of original courses. I think there were only 3, but those 3 are still worth checking out.
Did you record this from the taking videos thing on switch, cause the gameplay looks slowed down.
If we let the movie be at least partially canon, we can assume they got to other universes through a warp pipe. Obviously, that goes for the World Tour courses set in real world cities.
I think Wild Woods may actually be located in Pi'illo Island, somewhere in Somnom Woods.
2:39 Bro completely disregarded the existance of the Luncheon kingdom of odessey...
Wild Woods always kinda reminded me of the Forest in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
That's Was Incredible!!! Can We Have More From This? Like Mario Kart Double Dash Or Matio Kart DS?
I think the thwomp one could be in that location of one of the mario and luigi partners in time that was filled with thwomps, I think it was called Thwomp Volcano
Would love love love to see more of this!!
My headcanon is that all non-BCP courses take place in a large amusement park
Asking a good question! 👏🏾👏🏾😄😄
5:26 I think Shy Guy Falls might be part of Subcon.
