Your videos is very helpful. I recently have my CEL on for a P0305 Cylinder 5 misfire on my 2015 Charger 5.7L 8Spd HP870 Transmission. I switch coils from 1 to 5 and 7 to 3. Then I did a left to right coil to see if I'd get another code. No change. I then got 16 new NGK Iridiums and the code is still there. But pick up now is much better. But... What I also notice during under acceleration at 2K and 2.5K RPMs (prior to my CEL apearing) I kept hearing a clacking sound or like a card clipped to a bicycle wheel (if you remember that sound). But at cruising speed of RPMs under 2K. The sound is not as prominent. When the car is at idle, there is no sound. Only during the RPM range when accelerating and going thru the shifts. My initial thoughts are either MDS Lifters and worn Cam, possibly solenoids (my MDS won't go into 4 cylinder even when I set my cruise control. So I'm at wits end. Any ideas?
Double check the small coil wires are not damaged. Could also be injector plugged or failed, or injector wire. I have not experienced a cam / lifter failure so no first hand knowledge. I would run a compression check and see if #5 is significantly different. Can you clear your codes? If it is mds related, driving in manual mode will prevent 4 cyl mode. And the code won’t return, if you still get the code most likely not related to mds. My code was mds related, not a misfire. If you think it’s cam or lifter failure you can pull a valve cover and watch the rockers as you manually rotate the engine. Did you check for glitter in the oil? Good luck, let us know, I’ll do some additional checking with a few people I know that had a cam failure.
Guys, at 6:13, you inspect the intake valves. Is there anything i can do at this point to clean them if mine are not as clean as yours? Love your videos and love the Duster!
You’re very welcome. If you guys take the time to do things right and show us DIY’ers, you deserve some pay off! Really appreciate your vids. I just did this exact job just like you guys.
Well bro,you should have showed in the video exactly how "easily" you removed that broken part inside....I think thats the most important part of that job.
Does changing the solenoids have anything to do with pumping oil to the rocker arms I had changed the lifters in the car and it sounded like a Volkswagen. And I was told to check the solenoids to see if they are clogged up. Because it was not pumping any oil on the driver side if I’m making any sense.
Hemis oil thru the push rods. The solenoids have screens that can clog. As you saw in the vid mine were perfectly clear. They only affect the intake rockers on 2 cyl per side. I am not sure what would be common to the whole side and not affect the other.
Nice vid. How long would you say it should take 1 person to do the job? I have a 2013 300c. I haven't done a test yet but it won't drop down to a 4 cyl. Engine run great.
Less than 4 hours . Need an intake gasket set and a good inch lb torque meter. Seems easy to over torque the manifold. Mine threw a code and check engine light is how I knew I had a problem. Good luck thanks for watching
was your car misfiring before you replaced the solenoid? mine was in cylinder 7 and a P3449 code came up saying it was in my valve timing system so i replaced the vvt solenoid drove it for 1 day with no issues then it started missing again. i’m thinking it’s my spark plugs/ignition coils, or the mds solenoids. i have no clue what it could be now someone help.
That code looks to be the cyl deactivation code for no. 7. If you clear it, it will come back in a day or sooner. If you suspect the plugs or coils move #7 to #5. If you put transmission in manual mode, it deactivates the mds, if it drives fine in manual mode but not auto I would suspect your solenoid. I used a tuner and shut the mds off but a year later I decided to repair to get more mpg.
I was doing this on my car but for some reason I couldn’t get that last hose at the very least end off. It was super tight, any recommendations on how to get it off?
The hose on the back of the manifold? If I remember correctly it was just pushed on. Check for a clamp. Sometimes the long needle nose pliers that are bent are helpful to reach a hose and push it off. Thanks for watching
@@jerayracing thank you so much for your help, another question, I have an Jeep grand Cherokee 2018 and I have p3425 code Cyl 4 , which solenoid is it?

I haven't found easy yet! Should be simple but an hour and a half and literally ripping it to pieces and driving screw drivers and picks and prying ( recommend safety glasses ) pieces are going to fly and finally got the first one out. Plastic on it gets brittle and if the top snaps off you are in for some fun. Grab a 6 pack and a bag of chips and stuff rags in the intake ports. Remember to take breaks when you get that wtf! Coming over you. Deep breaths.
Yes nice cylinders head but how stupid the engineer to put 4 solenoids under the intake manifold… Know if you are a high performance guy and you want a Hemi engine you want 8 cylinders at all times!!! F*ck the MDS solenoids… take for example that’s is way you are working in that right know! If you don’t have the system! You will not have a problem! Same GM and Cadillac has the same engineer system and failed… the system sucks! Me if anything happens to have an engineer system like that, I will not buy the car or truck…. Period.
Yeah I mostly agree, my challenger is a 6speed so no MDS that’s how I want it. But the charger is my daily. When mds failed I used a tuner and shut it off. Mpg dropped significantly so I repaired it. I drive it 90 miles a day. It makes a difference. These modern engines frustrate me. What you save in gas you pay in repairs. Just trying to help folks that want to fix there’s and not get screwed by the dealer. Thanks for watching.
Sweet!!
I just watched a short video that shows a light tap on top of the solenoid. They come right out. Anyway, great video. Thank you
With over 160k on it ours didn’t want to.
Thanks for watching. 182k and going strong.
The drone is back! But mpg is up. I get why you want to shut it off. But I’ll run it. Easy job. Less than 4 hours
Thank you for this video this helped me change mine out on my 2013 Challenger rt
Nice! Glad we could help!
Have you ever changed your PCV valve?
No I haven’t, probably not a bad idea. Thanks for watching.

I ran a drywall screw into the plastic part of the solenoid and used a slide hammer, wasn’t that in there?
Showed the slide hammer about the 10 minute mark. Thanks for watching and commenting. Always working to get better

The passenger side pumps or through fine it was just a driver side that wasn’t getting any oil

Can you tell me if the first solenoid of the driver side is number one? Or which cylinders work with each solenoid. Thanks
1,4,6,7 deactivate
Drivers side is 1,3,5,7
Passenger side is 2,4,6,8 hope this helps
