Jimmy, I've been playing on TL5 (Gunma Cycle Center) for many months leading up to your video. The server was desolate in it's prior state. I just wanted to thank-you for your videos on this server. The amount of users, culture, and fun that has just been injected into this community overnight has been incredible.
I never thought I would best my time on that server prior to your video but there's already new users coming on blasting prior leaderboard records that I am learning a ton from. Thanks again man.
Same here I always wanted to play tl5 but was pretty much always dead and no one played it
It didn’t help that they changed the setup some months ago to make people download a single car at a time rather than one big pack as before. That shit is tedious. It took a hour to download every single car mod for all servers on touge Union.

I also used to play TL5 and never relised it was for battles, i thought it was only a time trial server because only 1 or 2 people would be online hotlapping at the most

Too simple to suggest there may be a correlation between views and Jimmy putting out something that HE just enjoys? It's obvious this is something he's passionate about and it genuinely comes across like he's having fun. Competitive and personable at the same time.
Agreed. It's good to see him doing something he enjoys that gets the support and views he would hope it would get.
If I could give him any advice it would be to do just that, make videos that you enjoy 👍
Yea this is DEFINITELY it. Every Iracing stream or race is just him calling himself a helmet for 90 mins or so and being down on himself for dropping a tire off. It's just not fun content tbh. THIS is fun content. The Shutoku Revival stuff is fun content. Serious racing is honestly just bad for Jimmy and I know he wants to love it, but it just really cripples his mood if it goes even the slightest bit wrong.
@@trautsj racing in a more serious manner (especially endurance since it’s a team sport) is just like that though, constantly trying to avoid mistakes because it ruins a long race for multiple people. I think as we have seen with the f1 content for example Jimmy wouldn’t be doing it if he wasn’t interested in it. Those sort of races are all about the emotion at the end and the big moments that make it worth it.
Speaking for myself I just hate circuit racing.

Jimmy has always been at his best when he isn't doing super serious races tbh. The Gran turismo box boy runs, the beamng stuff, the Nurburgring laps, Shutoku Revival highway runs and now these touges. Super serious racing just kills his mood and thus drags down the content quality.

Assetto Corsa 2 would probably blow up to crazy levels if it has built in competetive touge racing!
that and drifting. AC2 could fill a nice nieche there with basicly zero competition outside of AC1. yet I think its more likely they do classic seen-it-all racing with seen-it-all cars on seen-it-all circuits because seemingly this seems to be what people like to play.
It really only needs to be a good handling base game with mod support. That's hard enough these days as is.

I want AC2 to have more options for racing.
What I mean is that while AC is FANTASTIC for driving, it's not the best if you want to race. You can't have multiclass races, mandatory pitstops, penalties... And the AI sucks. Basically allowing the player to create their sets of rules instead of "yeah whatever"
AC2 could just be a AC1 remastered with updated graphics, more options for racing and mod support (would be nice if you could port car/track mods from AC1 into AC2) and that would be perfect IMO
Jimmer is the only one that can make me immediately go try whichever game the video is about

I think the Touge content is great because it's just the most exciting part of racing, a battle for an overtake, and it goes back and forth the whole time.

Touge racing is my favourite, seeing people discover touge is so good. The racing itself in terms of how close you are to opponents and the options you have are the best
JIMMY! PLEASE GET KAIDO MAPS BATTLE TOUR! there is an elo system with actual races between players by flashing lights and turning on hazards to accept. There is also a leaderboard and about 15 touge maps from initial d. They are amazing. theres also a leaderboard for overall times and individual car times. It does have limited cars but they are all jdm classics. There is a discord with a bunch of teams on it. People were also hosting battle tournaments and everything. It had so much potential and all it needs is some exposure.I really hope you see this and consider checking it out.

Pretty sure someone has said it by now, but warming up the tires is indeed a thing on this mod. Its necessary to do a couple laps to bring tires up to temp before making speed runs.
Togue content is lit, driving with you all and trying all the cars has been awesome

Maybe I'm just overthinking it, but I feel the sort of 1on1 and bumper-to-bumper nature of these Touge races is what makes them more accessible/popular? The intensity is so in-your-face while coupled with an easy to follow format? Idk, but either way I'm loving these Touge videos. So fun to watch.

Absolutely loving this touge content Jimmy, your bringing content to people like me who would love to own a SIM rig but can't afford it! Amuse S2000 GT1 is bore up to 2300cc plus a big ass turbo...and it's lighter than A80 Supra,,,,,,you did a epic battle!!! good stuff!!!
Jimmer, have you thought about giving hillclimbing a go IRL? I’ve spent years doing circuit stuff and last year and this year done a couple of hillclimb days (Gurston Down and Prescott, the latter being more fun). They look a bit simple watching other people do it but it is a mega rush doing it yourself, super narrow tracks, no run off, and going as fast as you dare. Give it a go 👍🏻

I remember slamming through the 6 gears of a forest green Supra on display and eventually a Toyota guy was like “get out of the car”. Good times.
I know you love gunsai and TL5 but let me tell you, touge life has so many more things to offer. TL2 is my favorite server right now on Tsukuba Fruits Line with modded cars. Then there are the kaido battle tour servers where you can win or lose elo with actual battles which is pretty dope.
I've nearly broke my fingers a few times since upgrading to a dd, not received a punch in the nuts from myself yet though, hopefully it stays that way 😂😂

Source - Owned / drove a '75 Toyota Crown, '78 Chrysler Scorpion & '80 Holden WB v8 ute (all manual) on dirt roads while living in the bush for my teenage years.

Years ago (around 2011'ish), myself and another guy had a similar run like you just had with the brz on a similar type of road to this. I had my old r32 gtr with like 360rwkw, against an mx5. I'd pull away on the straights with ease but the mx5 was just way better on the corners.
The Supra is such a bad car. It makes you punch yourself in the dad-beans.

probably not too fast i'd imagine, due to the uneven road and hairpins which would slow the f1 car down a lot

Id love to play on this server however i have problems downloading some Cars like the 180sx_96, the integra dc2 typer and the supra rz :( anyone know how to fix this issue? I downloaded them from the official list from the touge server, but it doenst work
Hopped on this after the first video and it's some of the most fun I've had on Assetto. Have mainly used it as a mod playground and for cruising / drifting. But this was a nice change of pace. The S2K is my go-to. PB is a :23 so far 😎

i used to love the supra when i saw the ff then i road in a s2000 a few years later. It was then i knew this was my wild baby. mind u work at dealership drove almost every car of that time corvettes, wrx, sti, wrx that were rally modified pushing over 400hp, evo, rsx type s, supercharged gs-r integra (only road in didn't drive) but ya any muscle car of that time early mid 2000. some classics even zr1 from the 80's once monster light scary rough

Need a good sim on series x. I have GRID simcade, it's fun but online population is all most nonexistent. I found a race but in turn 2 was immediately pit maneuvered. So I quit. I'll stay in career mode. Good job, one less person in your almost completely empty player pool.
Definitely had a few moments of corrections gone wrong... anyway.
I absolutely love watching these battles, never was knowledgeable or interested in Japanese car culture but I'm always down to see extremely charismatic cars being thrown around a dangerous stretch of road.
If they don't already have a ranked league for these battles they should. Would be amazing to see how far this can be pushed.
Yep touge is such a cool thing to watch ! i think touge racing is really unique because it is completely stuck in a time period. All the cars used are 90s cars and the roads have a unique vibe to it ! and the nature of the track makes it unforgiving and challenging.
