    I had two interviews with a small accounting firm. The first interview was with the Tax Manager. The only question that was asked of me was what were my goals. One of my questions was better, I stated that she mentioned how one of her employees is a junior accountant, so how would she go about training, giving tasks to someone like myself who is also a junior accountant? I did like her answer but we ran out of time so she scheduled a second interview with two team members. It was like one good cop and two bad cops during an interrogation. I saw people who were unhappy with their jobs and seemed to be dissuading me from wanting to work with them or for the company. All I have to say is, ask the right questions and look for red flags. I really wanted the job to be the right fit but it definitely was not. Also, there were quite a few people on glassdoor that were warning people about this company so I considered it practice! Never settle.

    All the videos I watched on you channel for different accounting positions, from a hiring managers prospective and what they want to hear. I was never asked those questions. Only thing I get! Tell about you experience or tell me about yourself. Then you guys go on to explain what your company and what they do. Then! when I know the interview did not go well because it's mostly about the color of my skin, and male. You guys go straight to, do you have any questions. Which indicates I do not have the job although 🤔 my experience is on a high level. You guys only use me through TemPositions with low ball pay.

    Thank you so much for all the videos you have prepared so far. They have been really useful. I got into an interview last week and came across a question that I had a hard time answering. I was asked "What do you think is our trial balance and income statement structure?" Obviously, I could not answer such a question at that time. I guess I might even be eliminated by this question. This company is Turkey's largest cigarette company and the internationally well-known company. It has a factory here and becomes a tax record holder every year. It also exports products. because the company is not listed on the stock exchange, I have never seen their financial statements before. How do you think such a question should be answered? Thank you in advance.

    • @TheFinancialController
      @TheFinancialController  3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Hi. The question is kind of unfair since you cannot see their trial balance and financials. But either way, here is a good answer in such case: Rather than giving you my opinion regarding a trial balance that I have not actually examined, I will explain my approach to structuring a chart of accounts and trial balance. Generally the account groups follow the structure of the Balance Sheet and the Income Statement. This means the 1st group, accounts starting with “1” are Assets, “2” Liabilities, “3” Equity, “4” Revenue, “5” accounts are cost of goods sold, “6” operating expenses and “7” accounts are typically non operating expenses. This approach allows to easily connect financial statements items to the trial balance.
