#9 is difficult to find a mentor, they always sees some of their staffs as threat to their career. Also finding time for interview is tough, company policy require as many as 3 rounds of interviews.

I find #6 very challenging as we are so scheduled the whole year with many deadlines to keep and over the years less FTEs who could be the your stand in e.g. while you are on vacation. Even though your head is telling you you are working to much is not easy to find the healthy balance.

Good tips overall but I disagree with you when you said how being a teller isn't a good way of getting into accounting/finance. I was in retail banking and moved into corporate finance as a treasury analyst, it would have been harder to move into if I didn't have retail banking on my resume and to talk about in interviews.

I think this video could have been broken down to advice when you're starting out in big 4 and when you've left big 4.
Not sure if you can choose your bosses (managers) in big 4 and not sure if you should share your career goals (like becoming a CFO since it will mean you will leave big 4 in a few years) to bosses in big 4.

Would you suggest that I switch my major to finance or keep pursuing my bachelors in accounting?

I was filling out my income records for the CPA. I use a calendar for this. I write each days earnings in it. But some of the records, I forgot ( easy to do when you get really “busy!”
So in the process of filling in missing days wages, I screwed up and put income into days that haven’t even HAPPENED yet!!! I was just stupidly going from square to fckng SQUARE, not paying attention to what I was doing!!! It’s the king of booboo the 3 STOOGES probably would have made!!! Oh DAMN that was stupid!!! I was just going from square to square to square to square,…. !!!!
I even filled out a couple of SUNDAYS, … we’re CLOSED on Sundays!!! What a goddam SCREECH!!! What an intellectual WIPE-OUT!!! I damn near punched a wall!!!
Here my wife is stressing out insanely over our tax records,… and god-DAMN I blew it!!! Just when I needed it most, my fckng brain had gone over to the “punch-bowl!!!” I dam near punched a wall!!! When it comes to cooking the books, I fckng CREMATED THE GOOSE!!!
I’ll never consider myself a smart person, ever again!!! I’m about as smart as Roscoe P. Coaltrain ( from the Dukes of Hazzard )!!! Too many “Joe dirt-farmer average” brain cells!!!
I have a painfully average, blue collar, Charlie Brown brain!!! I must REMEMBER that, or I’ll “overestimate myself” again!!!
    😖😓😞🤨😔😖🤯😔😓😞😖
Now, I will have to hand my records over with “white-out correction fluid” covering all my blunders!!!😖

“Extreme political views” What is extreme is very subjective. The idea that one should censor themselves in their private lives, personal time in social media out of fear that their boss and/or coworkers might find out about political or other views is too fear based. As long as your do job well, your political views shouldn’t matter to your boss and/or coworkers.
