    Totally agree with your take on the intake. The original intakes on these truck LS motors look terrible. I am currently trying to figure out what to do on my LQ4, and it’s a minefield of consequences. If you go with the doorman LS2 it will cause you to redo your accessory drives belt setup! Still haven’t decided this. Currently putting 799 heads and a new cam on to get more performance and a nice sound. Thanks again for your perspective on this!

    • @intheshoptv
      @intheshoptv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I totally get ya. You would think that there would be a torquey aftermarket replacement for the truck intakes other than the tall “fast” intake for $1k+! And yes, the accessory drive becomes an issue when switching to a car intake, and again, the only nice replacements cost a small fortune. That all part of what lead me to this decision.

    Even though I really like the look and price of these Chinese Holly Copy sheet metal intakes, the loss in performance is there, but I don't think it's the end of the world. I actually just came across an entire new copy-ish intake manifold for LS that is the newer style full aluminum curved top (similar to a BTR Trinity etc) from China, that is currently being sold on Ebay for $450 for the kit with seals, fuel rails etc in either black or chrome from a seller named 'Deepmotor' that is ready to accept a 102mm throttle body as shipped (for the LS3 flanged model anyway). I agree with you. Who cares about an extra 5% HP/TQ when the car will already fry the tires and is just a cruiser. I like your project. Look forward to it hitting the streets.

I want it ro look cool and run good. I've rebuilt this engine. I don't want a 5.3L with a turbo like everyone is running. I want a N/A that my wife can drive and not be difficult for her to drive. I put a BTR Ls3 Stage 2 V2 cam in it. If I can get 400ish to the wheels that's great. It had a 239 horse engine from the factory. So what 190 to 200 at the wheels and she would still move a bit. With this much horse and way more torque then it had at the wheels, this thing should be a riot. Burnouts and ice cream with the wife and grandkids and also some car shows. If you would pay attention to what I said, I never praised sheet metal intakes. I said that not everyone desires peak performance. I know that from YOUR perspective that is unfathomable.
