we just got a ls 5.3 in a 2004 pu very clean and runs and drives good no leaks no engine lights black on black very cheap , cheaper than we can get a wrecking yard ls engine but this one has low miles interior in as good as new aftermarket stereo system just needs good wheels and tires just has stock rims on it now than got really good trailer dirt cheap from the original owner with title he went and replaced the deck and bearings it will haul my backhoe or cars with an aluminum toolbox on front with keys straps been looking for a good deal on a trailer can easily get twice the money for it last month it was a 10,000 dollar bass boat for free u don't even want to know about last year
That bracket serves as a rigging point for an engine lift if you wanted to pull the motor but I never used it. I prefer a proper lift plate where the valley cover goes. Just safer and more stable to lift the engine from the center point.

It is an engine hoist anchor point that gm had a special attachment for from the factory assembly line that would lock with the tooth on the bracket. They used it to drop the engine and transmission assembly onto the frame before the body would go on top.

I’ve been looking into one of these exact set ups with the larger throttlebody for my 03Z06, and it seems you must have additional engine work done, perhaps something like heads and a cam. Is there any truth to any of that?
@@CaswellCustoms This is a 50th anniversary car, that is all original. I really don’t want to get to the internals of the engine unless it’s absolutely necessary. In this case it doesn’t sound like the set upwill Work with my car at all unless I start doing engine work.

Stick with that stock pickup intake or TBSS/GenVI,maybe port match w a die grinder and deburr it and smooth it out,even smooth and fill in high/low spots on the outside to look better then stick some heat reflective tape to the underside of it (runners especially) to stop heat soak(cold air iz de gooder air,makah de powah mo betta😉😁😆🤘) then you're ready to rock and roll w an intake better than any aftermarket overpriced "pretty" garbage
ISSUE!!! that fab intake is square port, your stocker is Cathedral. edit:.. NVM, i see what they did there, it follows the cathedral port but uses square insertable seals. had to take a few relooks to be sure.
Hydrolock is when the engine is locked up. So, putting a new intake on it would be like a lung transplant on a dead guy. Its not gonna make a dead guy breath better. I dont think you hydrolocked the engine, just flooded it.
For anybody who doesn’t know, that throttle body WILL NOT WORK on 1999-2002 DBW (Drive By Wire). The plug on the 2003-2006 is different. This one only fits 2003-2006 plug. The only way to run this intake manifold on a 1999-2002 model is use the stock DBW throttle body and the adapter plate that allows it to bolt into a 4 bolt intake manifold opening.
It was a great idea because going to 102mm does nothing on a stock motor anyway. Not to mention he needed to connect to his CAI existing tube in order to run the truck. They sell these intake/tb combos as a kit and it most typically comes default with a 102mm tb.
What? So ... its a great idea because it does nothing? Do you randomly just... go wipe you're ass??? Just to have something to do? And the CAI was already there, so it was already connected to... something?!? It clearly has a smaller "pipe"... which is my entire point. Sure, replacing the CAI would open the thing up to its full potential. And "stock" is VERY well known to be limited BY INTAKE FLOW! But that wasn't done. There would have likely been more power gains from replacing the CAI to a 102mm style and retained the stock intake/tthrottle body because the air would move cleaner. Whats going on now is a deep/throaty grown under WOT, but little to no power increase. The stock intake performs very well on its own... ie junk yard engines with a cam and bigger TB pushing 700HP at the ENGINE. None of the BS wheel HP crap
To be abundantly clear... I WOULD LOVE to get that intake in my truck! I went the other direction and did a cam and didn't properly resolve intake airflow. So I left a ton on the table too. We all learn from decisions. What we DONT seem to do is learn from others decisions!
Also, putting that rubber coupler back down to 86mm completely ruins the use of the 102mm throttlebody. You have gained nothing from buying those new parts.
Literally anyone whose fooled with LS motors will tell you that them Amazon throttle bodies are nothing but headaches and cause issues when trying to tune. Get an actual reputable TB and throw the Amazon junk away.

Ya that intake will lose a lot of low end regardless but unless you have a cam that's making power above like 6500 it is pointless and worse

What was all the extra parts you had to order hoses/ caps and connectors and did your fuel injectors fit correctly you skipped all that

Definitely recommend better flowing heads and a Cam shaft. I would also go with better deatschwerks injectors.

Routed from the rocker cover pcv valve on the drivers side to one of the 4 bungs on the bottom side of the intake as I showed in the video.

Only other thing I had done to it was long tube headers. Now we’re in the process of a complete tear down and rebuilt with a cam and turbo.

Most likely yes because I don’t have fender liners because of the fiberglass fenders, and my air box would have filled with water.

It wasn’t reliable but that was due to bad compression on a cylinder not the intake and throttle body.

Many mistakes were made figured that out pretty fast
