That stock intake manifold is actually one of the best flowing intakes GM ever made for the LS. Richard holdner has dyno vids comparing every intake manifold for the LS
Facts!
All Hail The HOLDNER!!!! Just a video fulla unnecessary but ehh...not my pickup and he inspires people...then I "Gap-tize" Em and show em the "True LS Way"😁😉😆😝
Ya that intake will lose a lot of low end regardless but unless you have a cam that's making power above like 6500 it is pointless and worse
you probably dont give a shit but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb forgot the password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Fernando Chase I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm.
Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I LOVE THE UPGRADE!!!! IT CAME OUT GREAT!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!! YOU HAVE A BADASS SILVERADO!!!!
Did you have to change the heads?? Just curious
Nice thinking about getting that intake and throttle body for my 02 that's the only thing I haven't upgraded on the engine. Cool decals BTW that part is called a evap purge valve.
Nice work buddy you motivated me to do this on my truck I wait for more videos like this
Awesome! Hoping to get the truck tuned in the next few weeks!
thanks for the help with the sensor and the vacuum ports. now i know what i have built will work
Thanks
Bat in the cave lookers left! 4:22. Great video by the way 👏
hahaha!
Hey bud thanks I have a 2012 yukon lifted pure v8 now finally can do this now thanks again for showing us it works
Glad I could help
I have one on my 2010 stage 3 btr cam and I love it !
Nice! Ya a Cam is the next thing on my list, how’s the drivability with the stage 3?
From Michigan too bro, nice video!
Appreciate it!!
even I felt the same emotion when I started good work friend
What year truck you have @casewell customs?
What year truck you have @caswell customs
Yeee yeee more power on the truck. Slapping 2020 out the way. Gear and cam and torque converter going to rip.
we just got a ls 5.3 in a 2004 pu very clean and runs and drives good no leaks no engine lights black on black very cheap , cheaper than we can get a wrecking yard ls engine but this one has low miles interior in as good as new aftermarket stereo system just needs good wheels and tires just has stock rims on it now than got really good trailer dirt cheap from the original owner with title he went and replaced the deck and bearings it will haul my backhoe or cars with an aluminum toolbox on front with keys straps been looking for a good deal on a trailer can easily get twice the money for it last month it was a 10,000 dollar bass boat for free u don't even want to know about last year
That bracket serves as a rigging point for an engine lift if you wanted to pull the motor but I never used it. I prefer a proper lift plate where the valley cover goes. Just safer and more stable to lift the engine from the center point.
It’s actually designed to pinch the fuel line during a wreck
@@Wongguyyy If that was the case, why did they run the fuel lines in top of the transmission from behind the intake manifold? It is an engine hoist anchor point that gm had a special attachment for from the factory assembly line that would lock with the tooth on the bracket. They used it to drop the engine and transmission assembly onto the frame before the body would go on top.
@@jamesmoyer3192 idk why they did it but I’m 💯 sure it’s for fuel line purposes, you can even look it up online if you don’t believe me
Not sure if you’ll ever see this but you only linked one of the caps think it was for the fuel rail and not for the bottom just trying to see everything I need or did the kit come with it?
Ive got one of the 1st ones jegs came out with on my turbo lq4 build. Im pretty sure its the same intake 100 people sell. I know the truck intake is top dog but I just couldn't get into it after I shaved the top.
I think that braket keeps the fuel from getting smashed in a crash not sure tho
That’s exactly what it’s for, keeps you alive
What was all the extra parts you had to order hoses/ caps and connectors and did your fuel injectors fit correctly you skipped all that
Wow, that rubber boot is tiny compared gto the throttle body. Any way to upsize the CAI?
I love this video I was wondering will this work with the LS4 on a gxp if anyone knows
EVAP purge solenoid is what that "in line" piece was.
I had to make my own brackets cause I used 36 pound how EFI injectors
Wow awesome 👌 job I have a 2011 5.3 Chevrolet Silverado is that something that I can put on my engine?. Definitely want to do the cam as well. Keep us informed. I will buy your stickers
Was the fuel piece you said you had to wait for not included if so what’s it called
Do you have the part # for the injectors from original intake??
hey how are u .. i have a question fuel lines . do i need a fuel presure or just hook up the line ?
I also deleted the egr system but I could not get my 102 mm Throttlebody to work
Wait did you just go from cathedral ports to rectangle ports
Would this work on a 2011 silverado with a 4.8L? Awesome vids btw, has helped me alot with my installs!!
Awesome glad they have helped! And yes it should the factory intake is the same for the 4.8l, 5.3l and 6.2l in the 07-13 GM 1500 trucks.
@@CaswellCustoms Awesome! thank you! You gotta get some cams in that prerunner or a supercharger, I just threw a whipple supercharger running a 8.5lbs of boost and it is 110% worth the money!
@@noahmallard8891 ya plan is to Cam it, torque converter, and regear! I had thought about supercharging it but I’m going to save the high horse power for the next Prerunner build I want to do after this.
@@CaswellCustoms solid plan my friend! I look forward to seeing it
hey i got a 04 cadillac escalade esv with the 6.0 would this be a option for my truck suv and if yes what would it cost and what benefit would it bring truck is bone stock
Question…
Why would you go with a 102mm throttle body and put a coupler on it that reduces the opening?
Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?
The coupler is to connect the cai to the manifold. Doesn’t reduce the inlet size
YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY NOT. A MECHANIC. 😂
Having luck with that throttle body? Curious on the reliability on a cheaper option.
So far it’s performed great! I’m running into another issue with one of the injectors that I have to fix. But no issues with the throttle body.
Legend has it he’s still waiting on Amazon
I’m eternally waiting for more parts from Amazon! 😂
@@CaswellCustoms lol
Is that a factory steering wheel I like the flat bottom
It’s aftermarket, we have a video of the install on our channel and the link to it is in the description
I have this intake installed on my ls swap project. I am trying to figure out catch can routing. The car is NA. How did you route yours?
Routed from the rocker cover pcv valve on the drivers side to one of the 4 bungs on the bottom side of the intake as I showed in the video.
For anybody who doesn’t know, that throttle body WILL NOT WORK on 1999-2002 DBW (Drive By Wire). The plug on the 2003-2006 is different. This one only fits 2003-2006 plug. The only way to run this intake manifold on a 1999-2002 model is use the stock DBW throttle body and the adapter plate that allows it to bolt into a 4 bolt intake manifold opening.
Thanks for the info. I have a race car with an 02 Tahoe engine and I was looking at this intake because of its lower height.
Was that the fuel regulator you were making adjustments to?
Purge solenoid
That’s awesome man! I’m in the process of doing it to my truck… just curious on how you ran the throttle cables?
It’s a electric throttle
What coupler size you use for the cold air intake on the 102mm
It’s linked in the description.
you think you could get 1 0f those in a ls4 5.3 transverse?
Yes
Purge valve is what’s that part is called
How did it take to get it to start and did the throttle relearn have to be done
It needs to be tuned in order to run properly.
Will it fit on an 06 Tahoe 5.3
Did you need a tune for it to start up ?
I didn’t need a tune to start it up, but in order to get it to run properly I did! Check out my video on the Dyno tune results.
I’ve been looking into one of these exact set ups with the larger throttlebody for my 03Z06, and it seems you must have additional engine work done, perhaps something like heads and a cam. Is there any truth to any of that?
Definitely recommend better flowing heads and a Cam shaft. I would also go with better deatschwerks injectors.
@@CaswellCustoms This is a 50th anniversary car, that is all original. I really don’t want to get to the internals of the engine unless it’s absolutely necessary. In this case it doesn’t sound like the set upwill Work with my car at all unless I start doing engine work.
Ya if you only do the intake it’ll only look nice, you won’t gain any performance.
@@CaswellCustoms thanks again for your input, maybe I’ll pick up another LS engine for a different project…
What throttle body adapter did you use? I need a 8 pin to 6 pin
I didn’t need an adapter, my factory harness plugged right in.
Hey bro where does the PCV line, the line that’s on top of the factory intake, plug into on the aftermarket intake?
On the bottom side, there’s 4 bungs that you can put your own barbe fittings on
@@CaswellCustoms I figured that’s where I could mount it. And the very back fitting is for the MAP sensor correct?
Yes that is correct.
@@CaswellCustoms Appreciate the feedback bro
For the 32lbs injectors plug into the oem injector clips?
Yes they are the same plug
@@CaswellCustoms great, thanks for the reply.
How long did it take to get to your house man ?
Hey. Mind Sharing part no for throttlebody?
Did it work right away or did yo have to relearn? Thank you
The throttle body is shared down in the description, and the truck has to be tuned.
@@CaswellCustoms thank you. Yes i will tune my car, got a whipple waiting. :D
Cool vid man, thanks for sharing! I recently installed BTR stage 3 on my 12 Silverado...still running factory intake though, might need one of these :)
I’d check out my video after my dyno tuning numbers. But I also just found out I have a bad injector so idk if what happened during my dyno was right.
@@CaswellCustoms I watched it, I would be bummed as well. Hoping my intake is actually a restriction given I already installed cam and headers. I hope the injector was your issue, look forward to seeing whatever you do next
Stick with that stock pickup intake or TBSS/GenVI,maybe port match w a die grinder and deburr it and smooth it out, even smooth and fill in high/low spots on the outside to look better then stick some heat reflective tape to the underside of it (runners especially) to stop heat soak(cold air iz de gooder air, makah de powah mo betta😉😁😆🤘) then you're ready to rock and roll w an intake better than any aftermarket overpriced "pretty" garbage
Need a decal
So what will you need that doesn’t come with the fabricated manifold/ throttle body kit?
Can you use stock fuel line?
I have listed all the parts I used in the description.
Did the map sensor fit in the back of the intake manifold? My map sensor doesn't fit
Ya my map sensor fit in the back.
@@CaswellCustoms thank you
What injectors did u use with that intake manifold
They’re linked in the description
so can i just slap a normal ls1 manifold on this vortec 5.3l v8 im putting together, it had a manifold that has a bunch of tabs on it and whatnot im looking for the cleaner corvette intake manifold
If it has cathedral ports, if it’s square you can’t.
Yes will be better off with it . Or truck intake works great to
You dint have to recalibrate for that throttle body?
I went and got the truck tuned on a dyno
What is the sizes of adapters to run the vacuum lines
which one? for the brake booster? the adapters out of the bottom of the intake came with the intake, all the other parts are linked in the description.
@@CaswellCustoms dang I just got my intake and it did not come with those adapters
@@zacharymcdonald7080 they weren’t chillin inside the intake?
Maaaan where did that steering wheel come from?😮❤
Link is in the description, my exact one isn’t made anymore th-cam.com/video/RRiTiSzYO6c/w-d-xo.html
Did u have to reprogram the throttle body ? Or it’s just a plug n play setup
You will need a tune.
Hey bro what throttle body are u using for the install?
The one I used was linked in the description but it’s no longer available on Amazon. This is a comparable unit amzn.to/405NLV1
Would this fit my 2003 Lt Tahoe 5.3 vortek
It would but it really is t worth the money, no noticeable gain in power. Only do it if you’re looking for the aesthetic gain!
th-cam.com/video/6UhMamHU4kI/w-d-xo.html
This work with the stock injectors 5.3?
No, the stock injectors are to small for the intake ports
Hey what injectors you running on the manifold?
They’re linked in the description, but I’ve upgraded to DeatschWerks injectors. amzn.to/3RrsNfi
Does the Manifold come with everything u need . I'm been at the same one u got but for my 2001 tahoe
Not everything, I have my entire parts list in the video description.
Do you have part number for the injectors
I have the exact injectors that are used link in the description.
would you have hydrolocked if you kept the original intake setup on?
Most likely yes because I don’t have fender liners because of the fiberglass fenders, and my air box would have filled with water.
How are you just running a single gas line. Do you have 2
Are you using a fuel regular
How can I figure out if my engine is LS or LT
If it’s 2014 or newer it’s an LT.
Quick question boss would this fit a 4.8 08 Sierra?
Yes it will.
Around how much hp or toeque did u gain?
Dyno tuning a 5.3L Vortec - are Intake upgrades worth it?
th-cam.com/video/6UhMamHU4kI/w-d-xo.html
Did you put that on a stock engine??
Yes i did, however i have removed it and will be going back to the factory intake once i rebuild it hopefully soon!
Stock engine or anything done to your truck before you added manifold ?, I have a 5,3 Silverado and looking to add some upgrades to it
Only other thing I had done to it was long tube headers. Now we’re in the process of a complete tear down and rebuilt with a cam and turbo.
@@CaswellCustoms gotcha man thanks for the help nice videos really helped me out alot
Don’t bother with the fab intake will lose power every where except over 6500rpm . Do a sloppy cam or a truck noris and headers . The. Hope and prey for your 4l60
Can I use these parts for my 05 Silverado 5.3?
Different wiring harness so you’d need different spark plugs.
@@CaswellCustoms can you tell me what plugs I'd need
funny this came on randomly n i heard you say d19 n i was lie wtf... i live in howell...
Nice! Ya we all grew up in Howell and moved away in the last few years but all still in Michigan close to Howell
Will this work on a 2006 Sierra 5.3 ?
You can make it work, but the throttle body’s are differently pinned I believe.
Would this fit a 2001 5.3 gmc?
It will, but the hose locations and throttle body might be different. th-cam.com/video/Av2YV9CSUt4/w-d-xo.html
I have a ltz Chevy 2008 5.3l can it still work for it
Yes it can, I would watch our video after the Dyno tune when we talk about power numbers
@@CaswellCustoms thanks it’s helps a lot I don’t know much but I’m trying to learn
anybody else notice the big booger in his own right intake manifold at 04:21 minutes ??? :)
“Bear in the cave, lookers left!” 😂😂
Was there much of a hp difference from stock to this intake manifold?
I will find that out today when I get the truck Dyno-tuned! And that will be the next video!
Did u ever go to the dyno and found out how many hp?
@@mikegalindo2091 yes I did check out our most recent video for the numbers.
@@CaswellCustomsgreat vids and info my man .any thanks!...my question is how much does a dynamic tune usually cost?...im swapping out a completely rebuilt olds vin y 307 for a gen 4 5.3 ls i got from my neighbor!...
I spent $600 in December of 2020
What’s the link to the fittings that were used under the intake
The fittings all came with the intake, the only extra one I bought was the cap. amen.to/3lZKTpU
@@CaswellCustoms what’s the name of that cap and size because my intake got small leaks on my plate because i have a rubber seal over it
It is linked down in the description, 1/8 NPT Male Pipe Plug
Do you need a tune if you do this
Yes you do
@@CaswellCustoms what type of map sensor did you use?
Reused the factory one
Evap purge solenoid on 4th gen…
What if it’s drive by wire throttle body instead of cable???
This throttle body is drive by wire.
Price for everything
I don’t have an exact # but all the parts I used are linked in the description.
You look like Linus Tec tips
ISSUE!!! that fab intake is square port, your stocker is Cathedral.
edit:.. NVM, i see what they did there, it follows the cathedral port but uses square insertable seals. had to take a few relooks to be sure.
Great idea to throw that monster throttle body on there, and then reduce it back down to 89mm. Wheres the facepalm emote when ya need it?!?
It was a great idea because going to 102mm does nothing on a stock motor anyway. Not to mention he needed to connect to his CAI existing tube in order to run the truck. They sell these intake/tb combos as a kit and it most typically comes default with a 102mm tb.
What? So ... its a great idea because it does nothing? Do you randomly just... go wipe you're ass??? Just to have something to do? And the CAI was already there, so it was already connected to... something?!? It clearly has a smaller "pipe"... which is my entire point.
Sure, replacing the CAI would open the thing up to its full potential. And "stock" is VERY well known to be limited BY INTAKE FLOW! But that wasn't done. There would have likely been more power gains from replacing the CAI to a 102mm style and retained the stock intake/tthrottle body because the air would move cleaner. Whats going on now is a deep/throaty grown under WOT, but little to no power increase. The stock intake performs very well on its own... ie junk yard engines with a cam and bigger TB pushing 700HP at the ENGINE. None of the BS wheel HP crap
To be abundantly clear... I WOULD LOVE to get that intake in my truck! I went the other direction and did a cam and didn't properly resolve intake airflow. So I left a ton on the table too. We all learn from decisions. What we DONT seem to do is learn from others decisions!
was it still reliable?
It wasn’t reliable but that was due to bad compression on a cylinder not the intake and throttle body.
Hydrolock is when the engine is locked up. So, putting a new intake on it would be like a lung transplant on a dead guy. Its not gonna make a dead guy breath better. I dont think you hydrolocked the engine, just flooded it.
Is this street legal? Asking for a friend 😀😀
Sell me the old intake lol
I'm switching back to it after i rebuild the engine.
Send me the intake and throttle body
What year truck do you have @truckwell customs?
It’s a 2012
Also, putting that rubber coupler back down to 86mm completely ruins the use of the 102mm throttlebody. You have gained nothing from buying those new parts.
Many mistakes were made figured that out pretty fast
There’s no gain from a 102mm opening on a stock engine anyway. He gained nothing but lost nothing either. Its a wash
Literally anyone whose fooled with LS motors will tell you that them Amazon throttle bodies are nothing but headaches and cause issues when trying to tune. Get an actual reputable TB and throw the Amazon junk away.
Yo I know it's been over a year but you had a booger hanging out in your nose.
Ya others have commented as well! 😂😂
@@CaswellCustoms No intention to offend you. but it is kinda funny
