    I was looking for a video on how to do those seams because I realized that the boot gets too narrow to actually do them, just like you were talking about. As I was watching, I realized that you could fake one of the French seams by making those stitches first (without having the edge folded over) and then making the normal stitch that actually holds the pieces together. When I looked more closely at the original boot I am trying to duplicate (2005 Mustang GT) I noticed that is exactly what they did. One seam has the actual French seam where it holds the sides down. The other seam (this boot only has two) looks like a French seam from the outside, but on the inside, the sides are loose and pretty much just ironed down and maybe glued! Thanks for helping trigger that thought and discovering that. I hope this helps someone else, maybe even you if you do another.
