      Hello. How do you teach Latin? Thank you!

    • @sharayahmauricehomeschools
      @sharayahmauricehomeschools  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not really actively teaching it at this level (elementary) we’re doing the memory work from classical conversations which just builds the foundation for learning it in the future. Will probably start formal lessons in middle grades -ish

      Thank you for this! Do you have any recommendations/resources for parents with students doing Essentials and Challenge levels at home?

    This advice was just what I needed. We live overseas and I wasn’t sure how to incorporate CC without a community. Thanks!

    New subscriber. Thank you for this. I just dropped in on a class and kids loved it but the price is just out of our budget at this time. I still wanted to do it and I love how you incorporate it with your days. Thanks.

    I’m glad I found your review videos on cc. Thanks!
    I keep coming thinking about doing cc and then changing my mind. I know that if we do I wouldn’t join the community because of cost. But it seems that it might be worth doing at home.

    • @sharayahmauricehomeschools

      Oh I think it’s definitely worth doing at home. At the foundations (grammar) level, the memory work is phenomenal. CC makes coming up with stuff to memorize easy since they’ve already done it. And I truly believe memorizing important information at the grammar stage is essential for a good education. Even if you didn’t do the CC curriculum per se, I would still recommend memorization. 👌🏼

    Songs are just the perfect way to learn especially for our littlest learners, ditch the visual aids and sing and dance! :)

    I’m m so glad you mentioned how you teach CC and do the songs during your morning basket. That’s exactly what I was thinking about doing so I’m glad it’s possible! Have you heard of homeschool helper? A mom from our group told me about that TH-cam channel so we have grabbed a lot of songs from that channel.

    • @sharayahmauricehomeschools
      @sharayahmauricehomeschools  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes! There are so many awesome channels that make up such good memory songs. We pick and choose based on the song, if it’s catchy enough and if we know it or not haha a couple times we’ve even made up our own!

      Haha that’s awesome! You should do a video on all the different resources you use. I’d love to grab ideas!

    Thank you for sharing this information and your TH-cam playlists for the cycles! I have been considering joining a CC community and this is very helpful.

    I’m loving these videos. We are lookout start CC without a community and so these are perfect to know what to do. My kids are 6, 3 and 1 so very close in age to yours 😀. Thank you for this!!! ❤️

    We use claritas memory work which is similar to CC but doesn’t rely heavily on group so you can join a co-op or not. We choose to do homeschool at home for our core so this is a great spine for us. We use cross seven also and my kids LOVE it. Definitely another option for those who don’t want to do The CC program. Thank you for sharing how you do things :)

      I’ve heard of them! Yes, definitely a great alternative to getting memory work that’s already put together for you. Thanks for sharing!

    We absolutely love CC! It has squashed my overwhelm and kept things so simple. I will say we are in a community and really enjoy the parent created content (mostly songs) from CC Connected which I think is 6 or 9 bucks a month. TH-cam parents also have great songs too.

      That’s awesome! That’s what I love about the classical model, it’s made for simplicity! There are so many great resources out there these days, homeschoolers definitely have an abundance from which to choose!

    I have the book and the app and I agree I rarely use my book. And I spent $100 on it kinda kicking myself for purchasing it.

    • @sharayahmauricehomeschools
      @sharayahmauricehomeschools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I’m sorry about that. I debated for the longest time on getting the book but when I saw the app and compared the two, I realized it wasn’t necessary. Hopefully someone else watching this will be saved!

    If I'm understanding correctly, you do not do any of the CC science experiments or fine art studies?

    • @sharayahmauricehomeschools
      @sharayahmauricehomeschools  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. To start, I really focused on the main subjects of reading writing and math. Then I relied on the memory work for those other subjects - science, history, geography, etc as all we would do at minimum. If my son showed an interest in the memory work for a specific week and a specific subject, (or I was interested in talking about it more) I’d just get library books on the subject, and maybe do a related activity for it that I would find on Pinterest. So for example, one week we memorized parts of a flower, so I did a flower dissection one day that week and we got some books about flowers at the library to read. Hope that helps!

    Was your mom an Amy Grant fan? Your name is not common but it sounds like a song.🙂

  • @rachelquinn2440

    I just purchased the cycle 1 app but there are no songs for any of subjects! A narrator just lists the facts for each week. Are there songs in the apps for the other cycles? Am I doing something wrong?

    • @sharayahmauricehomeschools
      @sharayahmauricehomeschools  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There should be songs for history, skip counting songs for math and Latin songs. I get all the other subject songs off TH-cam or make up my own. I have a few playlists for them… here’s cycle 1 geography: th-cam.com/play/PL_Obor01-Uvrua3-I6wpCIaaKsFDZYPBv.html

    Hi there... what was it you were using to read to your children about Constantine and the council of nicea?

    • @sharayahmauricehomeschools
      @sharayahmauricehomeschools  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hm, it was probably from our Ambleside online reading for history. Either in Our Island Story, or Trial and Triumph. Or possibly 50 Famous Stories Retold. We read quite a few books for history lol so I don’t remember exactly which one it was. But it’s definitely from Ambleside Online (amblesideonline.org) and from year 1 of history. Hope that helps!

    How do we get access to the playlist you mention?

      Up in the description box under this video I linked to all my created playlists. You can also find it on my channel page under the tab ‘playlists’. They’re titled CC Cycle…. And then organized by subject.

    When you do your memory work in the morning , do you repeat it 7 times?

    • @sharayahmauricehomeschools
      @sharayahmauricehomeschools  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! We just run through the current week’s subjects, once each day. So for CC week 1 we’ll run through counting by 1s and 2s for math, then I’ll flip to Latin for that week and we’ll sing the song, then recite our science, etc... All the subjects, everyday we do school for each week. Hope that makes sense!

    Do you know why cc includes Latin?

      Nvm I got my answer when you were talking about what is being taught for history.
