  • We began our homeschool journey following the Classical model of education, and discovered Charlotte Mason’s principles this past year. We went from trying a strictly Charlotte Mason approach to a combination of the two which has been working out amazingly for us. In this video, I share some of the differences and similarities between the two styles of education and how we combine them in our homeschool! Thanks for watching!

Charlotte Mason is classical education. The other classical is neoclassical.

Some CM homeschoolers don’t refer to CM as classical… but yes I agree

Have you read : Know and Tell by Karen Glass?

I haven’t read that one yet, but she does have some wonderful books. I’m familiar with the premise of that book, but I’ve mostly focused on CM’s own writing so far. 😊

Thanks for your reply. Also, I wanted to ask if you know anything about A GENTLE FEAST? Thanks in advance

@@joycehampton4656 I have never used A Gentle Feast, but I did research it when I was looking for CM curriculum options. I would probably describe it as the most gentle (for lack of better words!) among the other popular CM curriculum out there (such as AO, CMEC, the Alveary, and Simply Charlotte Mason). For example, the booklist recommendations are gentler - classics recommended at earlier grades in AO, are recommended much later in AGF. One reason I didn’t go with it, is that it is created and written by one person, while the others are created by teams of people. But I know many people who love it! I would definitely say it’s a great option and it seems to have a solid Charlotte Mason approach.

This is so very helpful! I really resonate with this. Thank you! I feel like you blew my mind wide open with the bit about the parent writing down the child's oral narration 🤯

Have you heard of The Children’s Tradition? It’s new and it’s like a classical education with a CM spin.

Thanks for putting this video together! Your comments to my original question on narration was helpful in itself and this video adds much more as you give more detail using the classical model to help children form a solid way to narrate.
I do agree with you that CM curriculum out there does fall short on the narration side; not Charlotte Mason herself 😊. Thanks again for your time in putting these videos together as I find your content very informative.
