I straight away bought this watch after watching your review... It has been almost 3 months now, and it still brings a smile on my face everytime I wear it... It is a beautiful beautiful piece of jewelery...
Great review, I currently don’t have a GMT in my collection. I moved out of my country and sold off most of my collection. I am beginning to get my collection going again here in Taiwan. I have been looking at the Monta GMT. You are really getting good at these watch reviews really fast I think it’s your calling in life you are a natural.
This is my perfect watch. With the 24-hour bezel and chapter ring, I can track the time zone of all 3 offices for my department in Omaha, Ireland, and Guangzhou. Love it!
Just found this channel. You got a new subscriber. A lot of watch channels focus on luxury. Its refreshing to find a channel that has a unique take on watches.... value for watches. It might take a couple years, but this channel has the potential grow along with your talent. Good luck.
I own this watch and absolutely love this watch . I changed the clasp out for the Marine Master clasp and it’s perfect 👍🏻 I also own the SKX009 and that’s a Seiko legend and icon . This new SSK003 blueberry will be a legendary and iconic watch in the future as well.
This is my holiday watch. Works well on a Nato too (especially in cities like London.) I also have the Strapcode Super O-boyer "Oyster" bracelet for that extra tool versatility. The good thing is that you won't fear being robbed of your Seiko whilst on your travels. Rolex GMTs are awesome, but not safe to wear during global travels. This watch is not too expensive, 100m water resistant, very versatile (beach and going out somewhere nice). It is the ultimate travel watch.
Hi, thx for the video, I brought this SSK003 in June 2023, just after the Longines Zulu time brought in May 2023. Hence, 4 weeks ago, I also brought the Longines HydroConquest GMT , I am crazy about GMT. As you said, this SSK003 or else SSKXXX series is a must have watch. Funny, I have the SKX011 brought 10 years ago, still work fine. The Seiko toughness is unbelievable. Even in their low price series.
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the MAMACOO, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
Congratulations to your brother on joining the Seiko family! And congrats to you for introducing him to the world of watches!! Hope you didn't charge him to much for consulting fees!!!
Watch are the ultimate Men's accesories!Enjoyed watching your collection. Keep going! As a watch enthusiast and watch reviewer, I can say MAMACOO this was a great choice. Enjoyed your video!
Hi Ashley. I really enjoyed and much appreciated your youtube review of the Seiko 5. I myself just bought the old model but brand new Seilko 5 SRPC55 yesterday. I love it and bye bye to my fitbit smart watch for 10 years. Nice to feel again the mechanical watch!
Great review! For those who claim that their seiko or any other wacth brand is losing 10,15,20... sec per day - wind your watch every 3rd or 4th day and you won't have any problems. Know your watch before you but it.
I agree that most of us will suffice with an office gmt. A true gmt might be overkill for some of us (not to mention, it will be very expensive). But I also think it's important to point it out to those who are keen on buying this watch
Thanks for the great review, Ashley. I just subscribed. I enjoy Seiko watches & have a small collection. I like this GMT, especially the blue dial version. Thanks for the informative review. I am looking forward to getting one!
I’ve been thinking of buying one for a while now, I just can’t decide between the black or blue version, I need to see both in the store together. I refuse to pay the silly amount for the SKX so this will fit nice in my collection. I have only found your channel today and a great little channel you have. Look forward to seeing the channel grow 👍😀
Love my SSK! My wife is a flight attendant, so the caller GMT is perfect for me. I’ve also cracked two sapphire crystals, but never a Hardlex, although have definitely scratched Hardlex more. That said, I understand those specs being considered cons by most.
I decided to get the latest Citizen Promaster Nighthawk GMT (BJ7138-04E)- after looking at all the others GMT type watches, plus it was on sale for 25 percent off, so I could not resist the low price.
I've got the limited Yuto Horigome Edition a couple of weeks ago. I'm a skateboarder myself and just had to have it. I love it and your review of it is just great. I prefer to call the "true GMT" a travelers GMT cause that already tells you for which case of use it is designed. :)
Great review as always, Ashley! I've always loved GMT and "world timer" watches. Your brother's watch is gorgeous. I bought a watch from MAMACOO lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.
Nice to see MAMACOO show a watch that can be afforded by almost anyone rather than these pieces costing thousands and thousands which are out of reach for so many.
Nice overview (among lots of overviews) of the 5 Sports GMT. (I have the blue 003 version.) My only minor quibble is over the "true" GMT designation: both "traveler" and "office/caller? GMTs are "true" in that they allow the wearer to easily track a second time zone, the only difference being in which hand (hour hand or GMT hand) gets changed by the wearer. Which type is "better" depends on whether you're an itinerant traveler, or someone who doesn't hop across time zones frequently but still has a need or desire to keep track of a second time zone with minimum fuss. Keep up the great work!
When reviewing a watch you should review the performance of the movement. While we are aware of the time keeping specifications it would be nice to know what time it's keeping.

Amazing review Ashley! I am waiting for the very same blueberry one (aka Batman). Just a comment: I think that the lack of steps or "clicks" in the bezel is due to the necessity in GMT to have bidirectional movement (for + or - time zone switch), rather than unidirectional as for diving watches. People complaining are probably too much addicted to SKX?

@@snellysoul1 Lol. With missaligned bezel and chapterring, hardlex glass that isn't that hard and a 6R-("high end") movement with accuracy that go all over the place. Or the 4R's with -20/+40seconds....
Hy. I agree with vou. It’s a good looking watch, but you should check the Steeldive SD1994 GMT (Seiko GMT homage watch). It’s a microbrand with outstanding quality for the price. Best regards from Portugal. Tks…
Seiko makes excellent and reliable movements. Which is why I buy, at a FRACTION of Seiko's price, watches from San Martin, Cronos, SteelDive, or Addiesdive. Each with a Seiko instruments (SI) movement (e.g. NH35, NH36, etc). As for the Seiko 5 Sports GMT, a great watch by the way...consider the STEELDIVE SD1994 V2 GMT for ~$150. OK, the SteelDive is a bit heavier that the Seiko, by about 20 grams. Why, might you ask? Well, the SteelDive uses a solid case back (as opposed to an exhibition caseback), thicker sapphire crystal, and a MILLED clasp (as opposed to Seiko's stamped metal clasp). Oh...and that solid caseback on the SteelDive is probably is related to its 200M-rated depth resistance, as opposed to Seiko's 100M. Of course, the lumed bezel on the SteelDive is also practical for a GMT. There is that. I do prefer the dial markers and hi polished hands on the Seiko.
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! MAMACOO watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
Handlex crystal, the rattle in the bracelet and quality quirks. These are the charms of Seiko. It gives it character. Kinda of like a handsome guy who is disheveled, effortlessly cool not trying too hard and walks around with a fuck-you attitude. These Seiko’s are for those in the know; kinda of like if-you-know-you-know type of attitude. I love a cheap Seiko. This GMT is a gem. Discovering this is what makes watch collecting fun. Because anyone can appreciate a high-end expensive watch.
After watching your earlier review of the SNK803, I decided to get one. Since it was discontinued, it cost a lot more than what is was 1-2 years ago. I ended up getting the SRPJ87K1F, which is the replacement of the SNK803. Although it no longer has a sand blasted finish on the case and the red tip second hand, it does seem to be a more refine watch. As for this Seiko GMT, its an affordable GMT from a brand that has the history. Sure, other micro brands may give better bang for the buck, but it won't have the heritage of the SKX of which it is based on. If you don't value that, than for sure, get a micro brand GMT instead.
I absolutely agree with you about the SRPJ87K1F. It's a fantastic upgrade, especially given the price increase for the SNK803. I probably would have done the same. Also, your point about micro brands is spot on. While they offer compelling options, I also see the value in the heritage that comes with established brands like Seiko. Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the AMZWATCH has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
Thank you for this thoughtful review. Can you comment on maintenance and repairs for Seiko watches? I have read on some watch forums that it's a pain to get Seiko timepieces repaired, due to parts or the need to ship to the factory, or some other reason. Thanks for your anticipated thoughts on this question.
I've had this watch, the Seiko 5 Sport GTM, for two months, and it leaves a lot to be desired. The one I got runs slow, and the power reserve only lasts four and a half hours. I’m not sure if this is normal, but I’ve gone back to using my €40 digital watch. Why? Because this one doesn’t inspire confidence, honestly. Bad investment. At the store where I bought it, they checked it and confirmed it runs slow. When I went back to ask again, they told me to wind the crown, but it only lasts four and a half hours. Thanks for any feedback, and if someone can let Seiko know they’ve made a mistake with this, that would be great.
I had no use for a second time zone in the 80's and for me nothing's changed. All these 4 hand watches show us how the few movement manufacturers that exist control the wristwatch industry!
the exact term should be Flyer Gmt and Caller GMt , as in True GMT we mean to say the other is false while its is not . So flyer GMT where the GMt hand is usually set to the home time and while you travel you change the main handset while the GMt remains same whereas in a caller GmT the main handset is used to represent the local time while you set the GMT hand and bezel for other time zones
A very nice review, fabulous to make it a personal story, which is what we need in a watch review video sometimes! And a great watch to review too! I would love to have a Seiko5 GMT SSK003 to add to my collection, as I need a larger watch for my 22cm wrist, but if I did get one I would definitely swap out the hardlex for a sapphire crystal. Thanks for your review Looking forward to the next one ! Cheers !!
Nice video. Just subscribed! I'm a Seiko fan myself and the problem for me is similar. Hardlex for the price and I would worry that the friction bezel will get loose over time. There is another con for the price. Yes, the bracelet is better than older Seiko 5's BUT a pressed clasp isn't really acceptable for the price. I have many Seiko's and one of the new ones, the blue dial SRPD51 I got on a Nato, but changed to a matching hand made blue leather, it looks great!. I'm more tempted by some of the microbrands using the NH34. Similar price but with sapphire, clicky bi-directional bezels and better bracelets. As for travel and office GMT, I travel a lot between Istanbul and Jakarta for business and really there is absolutely no practical difference between the two. You're not getting a better GMT if you pay big bucks for the travel. They both do exactly the same thing, the only difference is the set up. It's not a con at all.
Appreciate your subscription and insights! Your take on GMT probably makes more sense than mine but I do find the setup a bit more work. Having said that, I can see your point totally. Thanks for your engagement!
I dont get the problem with pressed clasps.Ive owned several Rolex models all of which had pressed clasps. They are strong and thin.Sorry but dont see the issue.
There are two advantages of Hardlex over sapphire glass. It does not reflect as much and it does not break as quickly as sapphire glass. On the other hand, it is not as scratch-resistant as sapphire glass. And by the way, there is no "real" GMT. There are two types of GMT. Travel GMT watches and office GMT watches. Both are real GMT watches ;-)
Thanks for the info on the Hardlex! Am still learning. Regarding the "true" and "untrue" gmt, I guess they are synonyms to the traveller & office gmt respectively? Isn't it?
@@ashleytee Hi Ashley, I think that's right. If you travel a lot in different time zones, then the travels GMT makes sense. However, if you work in the office and have a lot to do with colleagues in different time zones, then an office GMT is more practical than a travel GMT. What's cool, of course, is that the Seiko even has a third time zone that you can set very quickly and easily. Best Regards from Germany 🤗
I think the word "true" doesn't apply to the GMT function but to the movement. Both do the same job once they are set. But the 4r34 movement is basicly the same as a the 4r36, with a GMT hand attached to the part that normally ticks over the day wheel. It's not a "true" GMT movement. I also think the higher price comes in from the bracelet and them having to make special parts they couldn't re-use from the Seiko 5 Sports line rather then the fact it's a GMT. I really don't care myself I love this watch but no matter how I look at it, a true GMT movement is easier to use, specially while "travelling" and makes more sense in the way you set it. You aren't able to adjust the time to a new timezone without leaving the GMT hand on Greenwich Mean Time, so it's not a "true" GMT movement. Also if you are really into movements and want to get something else by buying a GMT, this is just not the watch to get as its doing the exact same thing mechanically as the watch you maybe already own. To me, no matter how much I love it, the SSK is just a Seiko 5 Sports with a few different parts on it.
I have this exact watch. It looks way better in person. The hardlex bezel makes the watch look more luxurious than the price indicates. Right now here in the US this watch is discounted closer to $350. That is a bargain for a GMT.

@@snellysoul1 Lol. With missaligned bezel and chapterring, hardlex glass that isn't that hard and a 6R-("high end") movement with accuracy that go all over the place. Or the 4R's with -20/+40seconds....
@@haping1 never had a mis lined bezel and hardlex that isn’t that hard lol lol Hardlex takes a lot more to shatter then sapphire
I'm gonna buy this watch based on your recommendation
Like you know you're poor? Get a real watch.
Stumbled across you. It was my pleasure to purchase one for you if you deside.
Excellent video. Also, I would love to see a review of the recently released Lorier Hydra Series 3 as that is a true GMT well under $1000 USD!
Thanks for the suggestion! Will check that out, personally haven't heard of Lorier before
I purchased one in August 2022 and am still thrilled with it!
Happy to hear that
How is it with the scratches? I can’t find any long term review
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the AMZWATCH has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
Girl, compliment from Germany. You make good Videos. Thx!!!
You answered your own question lol. Seiko is proud of their Hardlex.
Mam how much seiko 5 sport GMT..
Have looked at any the Islander GMTs?
Very good video. Refreshing. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have 2 Seiko 5 watches from about 15-17 years from now :)
what's your opinion on the new citizens Gmt series 8 ?
whats the black watch on the intro?
the exact term should be Flyer Gmt and Caller GMt , as in True GMT we mean to say the other is false while its is not . So flyer GMT where the GMt hand is usually set to the home time and while you travel you change the main handset while the GMt remains same whereas in a caller GmT the main handset is used to represent the local time while you set the GMT hand and bezel for other time zones
Nice watch, I have kinetic but the machine is not working now..I don't know if it can be repaired.
Thanks for the video. Since they don't use sapphire crystal, is there glass comparable to gorilla glass in toughness/ scratch resistance?
Great vid. Just subbed
I already owned ssk003 last year, it's a nice watch
That's awesome!
Cheers !!
Thanks a ton!
I really like that watch.. thanks for your recommend..
Looks amazing... good review :)
Thanks so much!
:D now i want one tho@@ashleytee
AMZWATCH 's watch really surprises me!
I BOUGHT 2 SEIKO AND THERE JUNK THEY BOTH BROKE WITHIN A MONTH. I NOW BUY THE BULOVA WATCH THERE AMAZING
I have this exact watch. It looks way better in person. The hardlex bezel makes the watch look more luxurious than the price indicates. Right now here in the US this watch is discounted closer to $350. That is a bargain for a GMT.
beautiful Gangsta WATCH!!
i missed SG, love the food
I'm from Malaysia :)
Above all, it bothers me that it doesn't have a screw-down crown, but I do like the orange one.
same, I would have chosen the orange one too
Try the vintage Skx023, 031 and 033. Perfect proportion.
I just got the Enoksen Roam GMT. A much neater version using the movement.
personally haven't heard of that, but I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
@@ashleytee They are a small micro working out of Belfast in Northern Ireland. Been around a few years now. Excellent service.
