French car makers have dramatically improved the quality, design and interiors. Peugeot now is a mid premium. Renault makes wonderful cars. German cars now are overly expensive compared to what Renault and Pug offer. French brands cost much less, and deliver as much in terms of design, tech and everything. Why pay 30k more just to get the Audi or BMW badge?
30k more really is a gross exaggeration with these two costing around £40k. Peugeot arent any cheaper than VWs and arent comparable to Audis and BMWs.
The difference of price for french brands and german brands is between 10 % for small car and 20 % or 30 % for premium ! It 's a lot of money

The BMW 3 Series is much more expensive than the Renault Talisman, especially due to better performance, more premium design, and onboard technologies.

Volkswagen ID.3: Starting at €39,000.
The difference in electric vehicles often comes down to battery technology and autonomous driving options, which are more advanced in German models.
Reasons for the Price Difference:
Perception of Quality and Brand Image: German cars, like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, are often seen as more premium due to their reputation for performance and reliability.
Technology and Finish: German brands typically integrate cutting-edge technology, higher-end finishes, and more powerful engines, justifying a higher price.
Customization: German cars usually offer more customization options (engines, finishes, technologies), increasing the overall cost.
In summary, for comparable car ranges, German cars are often 10% to 20% more expensive than their French equivalents due to perceived quality and the options offered.

It's just PERCEIVED quality... Actually, German cars have as many technical issues as the French or the Japanese. I owned a BMW, it had so many issues, it costed me more than 10k to fix.
And compare the most equiped German cars to their French counterparts, you'll see a huge difference in prices.
"German cars usually offer more powerful engines" : I agree with that.
"Integrate cutting edge tech" : I disagree with that. Renault absolutely wipes the floor with what VW offers, for example. Renaults are full of tech, same applies to Peug.
"Customization ": "German cars offer more customization options"....Well I find this statement controversial, and even if so, it comes with a HUGE HUGE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE.
Or let's reverse the argument : if you choose the most basic equiped French car vs a German equivalent, you'll find that the French one naturally offers more, much more than the German. It's just a fact.
German cars now are unbelievably costs, and nothing, absolutely nothing justifies it anymore.
People just pay for the badge, nothing more.
French cars are gradually becoming accessible luxury, while German cars are costly, expensive luxury.

Renault's new cars battery tech and autonomous driving options are more advanced.
I got the Rafale yesterday and I love it. Hands down the best car I have ever owned!

408 will be much a better car to compare and this 3008 is not a GT with back handrest and others but the 3008 is still a wonderful car ❤❤
I have the 3008 gt version and it has so many features this one doesn’t , this is the base model she’s reviewing .. so not a fair comparison.
I like the Renault Rafale. It just looks more sporty IMO.
I know you've mentioned the size discrepancy, etc, but you could have put the 408 up against the Rafale and you wouldn't have had that problem.
Renault uses Google in their multimedia which is a big plus
Very interesting I like Renault better, but the Peugeot is slightly cheaper, I think I would have to have a test drive myself before I made up my mind, I think you are amazing at doing these car reviews as I can understand you better than others, also I am interested in the Smart # 1 and #3 would love it if you could review these please Tish 😊
Renault has currently a good ratio price/quality.
3008 all day every day. Looks better and definitely is more stylish snd unique. New Peugeots looks fantastic. And same for interrior quality. Really really good

I found that on my Renault the fuel economy has improved drastically after about 1500-2000 miles. Going from 48.8mpg to 57.5mpg. I haven’t changed my driving style at all so it may also improve on the Rafale
Renault Rafalle all the way. I went in dealership and sat in one, the interior quality and ergonomics as well as design both inside and outside are supreme.
My next family car (will order one next year) 😊

A good review as always - a very fair comparison. I much prefer the Renault Rafale to the Peugeot 3008. Even if the comparison was between the Rafale and 408, I'd still would go for the Renault - the 408, to me is awkward looking.
I don't know why the French have such a problem with moving the fusebox on RHD cars. I used to have a 2009 Pug 308, the owner's manual didn't even fit in the glovebox.
I prefer the interior and exterior look of the rafale

Good comparison video, they are not 100% close but close enough, I think at the end of the day as they are so similar it’s down to what the buyer prefers like Apple or Android for example, whilst the Renault has some nice touches I think I prefer the 3008 but would have to get it in GT trim

Need a proper hybrid. The car makers and governments are failing the public.
Currently trying to get funding to build off the work of Ferdinand Porsches research into hybrid technology. We should have hybrids giving us 150mpg without ever the need to recharge. Just fill up like a normal ICE. Instead we are given the Renault Rafale is 60mpg and Peugeot 3008 40mpg. Both ok, but nowhere near what we should be getting or the planet needs.
Both of these cars look fine and I am sure drive fine, just wish we got proper efficiency.
As a Northener, I'm somewhat bemused at your use of double negatives - as in dirt off of the road, and how quick the car was at getting off of the line.... We would simply say dirt off the road, and quick off the line.... Good review though...

These are not double negatives. But Tish does have a few little grammatical quirks associated with Essex dialect., e.g. ‘inside of’ rather than just ‘inside’. All good. Thanks for the videos, Tish. At those prices, I’d go full EV with a Scenic or e3008.
It's spooky how similar they look which given that the same designer drew them is no surprise but speaking as a former Renault owner I'd have it over the Peugeot.

Renault have nailed it with the interior.
Both have their pros and cons Tish. I think i'd go Renault by a short head.
Rafale is the better car. It feels more adult and plush.
I really like the look of both cars, they are both well made, the Renault has more appealing performance and electric versatility, but due to dodgy knees the Pug will win it for me. Oh....and the tail lights are prettier! 😂
I think they both cost too much, I don't necessarily need ALL of the extra tech, and quality should also reflect longevity at these prices, so maybe both manufacturers should be offering longer and more comprehensive warranties, and full service and maintenance support far beyond the typical 6 to 7 years Renault and Stellantis tend to offer.
BTW once you get used to a column shift, it's much more convenient and nicer to use than a console shift.
The Renaults rear looks good. The Peugrots looks boring and too plain.

I do not understand why is she comparing the lowest trim (the peugeot) with the highest spec (renault). 90% of her complaints are covered with the GT version. Guess she does not do any research about the cars and this is not the first time. Hope people do not make decisions based on her "reviews".
My thoughts exactly. I don't think she likes the new 3008 and she's slightly biased towards it that was evident in the review she did for it before the comparison. I have the new 3008 and it's a hell of a car. Despite not having the punchier engine available (the engine choices are the only disadvantage I found in this car) for the hybrid version it had still more than enough power available. The plug in hybrid GT would be perfect (though considerably higher in price for its category).

Space wise in the back the 3008 was a struggle to fit my son's car seat in

the rafale is better okay but the Pug is NOT a backwards step over the old model, it's still a great vehicle, superb and modern.
@@garnray8568 I drove the e-3008 and unfortunately in a short time I found a lot of faults with the car
Front Seats not very wide, no felt in the doors (Last model had it) very tight in the back with a 6ft driver
It left me very underwhelmed and happy to get back into my Skoda Enyaq

And 3008 having grey cloth will stain and mark easily
Sorry those are not SUVs they don't have four wheel drive low gear so all they are is over sized car replacements for the 80s and 90s mini vans !
