Love the Peugeot brand and their cars until the 90s but they really lost it since. The latest designs have become so complicated and desperately looking for a strong identity. There must be 2000 lines and creases … Plus the engine ranges have become sooo boring
I find touch screens a serious safety concern the way they are. Don't even want to imagine the frustration with these things if you're a right-handed person in the UK though. Peugeot does seem to have upped their game, but it still can't hold a candle to a classic iDrive system of yesteryear.
Yes a super futuristic looking machine like this that’s quite large isn’t going to be well suited to a 1.2 petrol even if it’s half a tonne lighter. Our e2008 feels plenty quick enough to 60 and is super smooth with instant grunt.

Rented a 5008 petrol with 40K miles on the clock. The interior looked nice but it was coming apart. It was a manual and around the stick there was a sort of metal finish a it was pealing off and had very sharp edges all over.
Yes, thats usually the case with renting cars... Theyre not treated the best. When they clean them, they use cheap, abrasive products, too... You'll find peeled of plastics on most oldish rent cars. 40k miles is also quite a lot for a renting car. Those cars are mostly used for short distances. Age is of a more relevance in their case.

I test drove both the Peugeot and the Renault Scenic and I would go with the Scenic versus the Peugeot. Yes the Peugeot is nicer inside but the Scenic isn’t bad either and I like the Google based interface. Very intuitive, very fast. The Peugeot is not fun to drive: too heavy for the engine. It’s sluggish. Scenic is much zippier mostly because it’s 400 kilos lighter! Scenic is a bit noisier due to wind buffeting at higher speed, Peugeot is really quiet. I also like the automatic preconditioning of the batteries on the Scenic before charging while using the google based navigation system. Not the case in the Peugeot. Heat pump is optional on Peugeot, not Scenic! And then finally, the Scenic has a much longer range, close to 300 miles in real driving. Although I must say the Peugeot is very efficient. I got 17.6 kWh per 100 km during my test drive (rather aggressive) or in line with what Matt has. For me it seemed like a no brainer.
For once an ev that looks nice inside and actually has some physical buttons and a useful control panel. The overall design is not bad either.I think Tesla need to visit Peugeot and learn how to design a nice looking, functional car. Still I am not interested in an ev at all, but nice to see a manufacturer who can actually design a half decent looking electric car.
The sudden brake situation was actually an issue with the previous 3008. It would sometimes apply the brakes too hard even during a soft pedal press. Disappointing to see that Peugeot never fixed the problem.

1.2L!? In this car!? That's some bad joke.
With a chain now instead of a dreadful belt in oil bath from Continental, isn’t it?
It’s electric

I agree. France has made some brillant cars in the past. Alpine. Citroen DS. Citroen SM.Many other classics! This one looks similar to many European SUvs.Merde.Pas de Problem!
Interesting that Matt was more positive on this car than its French rival, the Renault Scenic. French reviewers have favoured the Scenic - lighter, more practical, more dynamic. I do like the Peugeot’s interior.
He is just being realistic. This is next level in comparison to Scenic
@@BrateTebra123 It’s your opinion, fine. Most reviewers who actually driven it disagree. The Renault has the advantage of being on a lighter EV-only platform. Hence it’s better handling and, according to some, ride quality. Looks are subjective. I’d probably choose the Peugeot for its interior - plus I wouldn’t need greater room in the rear.
@@spsmith45 design wise Peugeot is much better, exterior and interior. The handling might be better in Renault I have not driven it to give opinion
Renault Nissan is a far better car and company.

Love the Peugeot brand and their cars until the 90s but they really lost it since. The latest designs have become so complicated and desperately looking for a strong identity. There must be 2000 lines and creases … Plus the engine ranges have become sooo boring

Its a shocker but its electric so Carwow will have to say its good to fit the narrative
Brother urrrr 🤣
Perfectly used
I find touch screens a serious safety concern the way they are. Don't even want to imagine the frustration with these things if you're a right-handed person in the UK though.
Peugeot does seem to have upped their game, but it still can't hold a candle to a classic iDrive system of yesteryear.
"sorry for reviewing the electric version" 😂 I am actually more interested in the electric version than the petrol one.
Yes a super futuristic looking machine like this that’s quite large isn’t going to be well suited to a 1.2 petrol even if it’s half a tonne lighter. Our e2008 feels plenty quick enough to 60 and is super smooth with instant grunt.
He's a motoring enthusiast... Most E cars that are not Tesla's are boring to drive, or marked up 300% by dealerships. I'm with you, but I understand his lack of enthusiasm.
Brother ewwww
Funny thing is, they didnt mention the 3008 version before this one, which was clearly more appealing, lol.
Rented a 5008 petrol with 40K miles on the clock. The interior looked nice but it was coming apart. It was a manual and around the stick there was a sort of metal finish a it was pealing off and had very sharp edges all over.
Good ol Stellantis quality
Yes, thats usually the case with renting cars... Theyre not treated the best. When they clean them, they use cheap, abrasive products, too... You'll find peeled of plastics on most oldish rent cars. 40k miles is also quite a lot for a renting car. Those cars are mostly used for short distances. Age is of a more relevance in their case.
1.2L engine, oh, Peugeot, you never change.
Dude they cant. They are not able to make big engines due to the French government. They cant make any engines with big co2 emissions. Wich is why they concentrate on fuel efficient engines. Also yall can stop whining cuz 136 hp is enough for a daily 😂
@@Scottcreatescontent Still, Renault manages to make more sensible engines. 1.2L is puny and you feel it in the day to day comfort, or lack of it.
@@rccc5806 my parents both drive pure tech 1.2L Peugeots and they are met with great comfort everyday. They are extremely pleased with the engine and overall comfort. I dont get your point? It’s a hybrid aswell. And it sums up to 136hp, wich is enough for ur daily and can be fun aswell?
Just like with other french cars. Wait for a year if you want to have it. You'll get it for 30% less and the first owner will save you the headache with issue you get when you buy a new car.
That's true, and thankfully this car is fully electric so we won't have to deal with the 1.2l pure tech engine issues anymore.

@@reececollison5101 sure but who will buy that version besides maybe the “3 cylinder” petrol heads lol. The full electric awd 320hp version is where it’s at 🤗
@@Oklm23 1.2l pure tech is okay in the last years, also just check the timing belt it's very easy because you can see it from the oil cap. If it has cracks, change it , do an oil change and you're good. People are driving their cars 150k km and not doing proper service then when it breaks they are shocked. And that's true for any car not only Peugeot
@@reececollison5101 FYI that 1.2 Pure Tech will be the new generation with 136 BHP (previous 130 BHP) and timing chain instead of timing belt and numerous improvements. Bye bye issues.
And as far as Hybrids (there will be one with 1.6l 4 cylinder engine).
I know this is from the new 5008 III but it pretty much appilies to 3008 III aswell:
..."A full range of electrified powertrains.
To support its customers in their transition to full electrification, Peugeot also offers the new E-5008 with a hybrid engine.
The Peugeot E-5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 features the Peugeot HYBRID 48V system, which consists of a new-generation 136 hp petrol engine coupled with a dual-clutch six-speed gearbox that incorporates an electric motor. Thanks to a battery that recharges while driving, this technology offers extra torque at low revs and a reduction of up to 15% in fuel consumption (5.8 l/100 km in WLTP mixed cycle). In urban driving, the new 5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6 can operate up to 50% of the time in 100% electric zero-emission mode.
The new 5008 expands its range of powertrains with the introduction of a Plug-In Hybrid (195 e-DCS7), which combines a 92 kW electric motor with a 150 hp internal combustion engine. Its high-capacity battery allows it to reach a range of over 80 km when driving in 100% electric mode. This version is equipped with a 60-liter fuel tank, enabling it to boast a record-breaking range."

Who wants a Renault ?
£50 k is totally acceptable for such car since Peugeot has so massively improved since 2014. If you think that's still Peugeot from the 90s, then you couldn't be more wrong. Frankly I don't see Peugeot being inferior to VW in any way. Excellent build quality, stunning futuristic design, and look at those interiors. You think you are going to get all that for £20k ?? Don't like it ? Go buy Audi for £100k.... Peugeot is the thinking man's choice.
Depreciation will be a nightmare.
Seeing that this costs £50k i think actual Premium Brands are much worth the price…
I think this is the first time in recent years that I haven't liked a Peugeot car. The previous generation was perfect, that seems a bit excessive.

WHO DESIGNED THOSE RIMS
French to Americans: "Can't touch this"
It's because the yanks didn't buy French cars back when they were sold there, so they probably don't want to take the risk again. I heard that Alpine could sell its next high-end SUVs there in a few years though.

Still I am not interested in an ev at all, but nice to see a manufacturer who can actually design a half decent looking electric car.
haha, first you should try before commenting, I would say why all these buttons…
Peugeot designers do not deserve these engineers.

Mat's pure motor journalism!
The sudden brake situation was actually an issue with the previous 3008. It would sometimes apply the brakes too hard even during a soft pedal press. Disappointing to see that Peugeot never fixed the problem.
