Awesome video of a great little studio space, but the last 5 minutes of it was so revealing - something I always struggled with, work and life separation. Tbh, I don't produce or record music (not yet, at least!), but I repair/restore/mod synths, amps and other music stuff at my home - and that separation is highly sought after. Also, to your guest: Juno-60 can be MIDI-equipped, I believe the 6 wouldn't be a problem either. 😉 Live long and prosper to all! 🙋🏼♂️
at 0:25 seconds theres an iphone notification ding. but knowing why something like that accidentally got into the audio print (having been there before) kinda makes me appreciate this work more. very good.
The Midnight has been my favorite for the last 2 years. This interview was freaking awesome Andrew. Thank you! Was pretty stoked to see a Take 5 in there with all the other glorious synths. Ive had my Take 5 about 6 weeks now and that little thing really is amazing.
It's a really nice setup. Love those Soyuz mics. Great focused synth collection. It has a good bit of overlap with mine. I actually used to have a Minimoog, but now I have a Grandmother sat in front of my modular. And I prefer it this way. I can see why you wish you bought the Apollo x16. There's two ADAT inputs on the back though, could be worth buying an Audient ASP880 or an SSL Octo Pure Drive? Those both have two ADAT outputs, so you can add 8-channels at 96k, and would give you 8 good extra preamps if you ever do end up tracking a drum kit, or a bigger group elsewhere.
Love the studio tour Tyler! It was great talking to you and Tim at the Orlando show a couple years ago. Your answer to "Gloria" was great and has stuck with me. I forgot to ask you then if you might do a cover of "The Boys of Summer" which you have done live. Any chance of that?
Love the studio setup and all the gear!!!!!!..... I was wondering if the Black Lion Audio patchbay is transparent and doesn't affect the audio signal quality?????.....
I realy love the story about the calf. Good move from his parents, an excellent way to give a sens of values, connect with the ground, the history and the respect for the nature. His system of curtains is interesting too for people with "problems" with big windows, this kind of thing, and don't want sacrifice everything for accoustic. We would like to have details about theses curtains (fabric, thickness, etc...)
WOW my favorite band! Just saw them live in Prague. Amazing. Also Tyler, when I said I named my canoe after you, I meant I called it "The Midnight" XD... If that redeems me at all lol.
Very cool studio especially in a condo being able to mic things and not always have to go DI or use an OX Box. I just wouldn't enjoy recording as much without micing things up...real LA-2A too hell yea
1) I've been looking at moving to Atlanta this year. 2) I wonder how much music contributed to paying for the studio. 3) I relate to Tylers relationship with production. 4) I talk about my gear the same way he does. "I remember songs first gear second." lol
I LOVE the Midnight! Only seen them once but will not miss them if they're ever in town. And Tyler makes me proud to have a Super 6 (even though mine's the desktop version). What an amazing synth!!
Personally I like all their stuff but the first song I ever heard of them (and that totally hooked me) was “Jason” from the album “Endless Summer” which is a complete banger all the way through. Just make sure you listen to the proper album (with Tyler Lyle’s vocals) as several of their albums are released as instrumentals as well.
I had a Moog Voyager Minimoog for years, sold it and got a Behringer model D. Drop the $230 for a Behringer model D and don’t look back. Sounds the same as the Moog.
Ha ha Andrew, You are a high-quality person I can tell, you could’ve responded negatively, but you didn’t :-) I just don’t understand why videographers are infatuated withDSLR‘s and constantly Jack with the focus. Well, I think it’s in focus, well maybe let’s see. Let me turn this a little bit. Nope it was in focus. Well, let’s go back the other way. Maybe I can get it better there. OK well no it was in focus. OK I guess I should leave it alone now. I think I can constantly mess with it and make it better. Oh my word! It seems like the very thing that should be in focus isn’t. Anyway, I’m done with my rant. I appreciate you, Andrew and all that you do on your channel.
This is just a bunch of People with credit cards... Not musicians, basic chords, basic progressions, basic everything, he doesn't even know how to operate the Korg synth... Lmao
Atlanta!
Love these studio tours, but horrible filming, dude! During the conversations there often is no focus on where it should be.
You gotta do a studio tour of his bandmate Tim's studio! Love The Midnight and all of their music.
I SECOND THIS!
YEPP
💯

Need those blackout curtains 🙌
Oh man, I love the Midnight, this was so rad to see behind the curtain.
🔥🔥🔥

Since he likes to blend synths he would love an RME interface with total mix and dynamic patching.
very inspiring to me

Would love to know where those curtains are from.
Where can I get the curtains?
We daddies know best 😆
What make curtains do you have? Are they available in the UK?
Where did you get the black curtains?
You’re insane, this is awesome!!!
What curtains are you using and where did you get them?
Love that band.
What are these curtains and where can I get them?
What a great surprise, I love this band!
Can we get a link or mention of the curtains
What’s the song that he’s playing at the beginning?
this is gonna be a really big challenge, but you should try to get into Hans Zimmer´s stuio
Gunship next please
Also....why use Supervision in Cubase Vs Loudness tab on the Master output tab?...seems like the same data?
Guess the OB6 is still in Tim’s hands then ;)
mks-80 is a jp6 in a rack according to Roland
I have never heard of them. What would be a good introduction to the band to get my feet wet.
