WHO AM I:
I'm Streaky, a TH-camr and professional audio engineer from Henley, UK. I make videos sharing my knowledge of mixing & mastering from my 25 years of engineering. I've worked at some of the biggest studios in Europe including Metropolis Studios and here are some artists I've worked with - Ed Sheeran, Adele, Jonas Blue, Krept & Konan, Depeche Mode, Paul Weller, Skepta, Naughty Boy, Sigala & many more... I also have a weekly email newsletter that contains tips, tricks & discounts to cool stuff (streakyacademy...)
Dang, shout out to you for posting these vids for 14 years. Epic indeed.
Sorry for nicking the title vibe…🙏
@@Streaky_com love the glasses, but you didn't do "Elllo, Iaam streeekey". That it s must bruv.
Are you hurt because he used the word epic? 🤦🏻♂️ It’s not like you invented the word, is it? Everybody is using it. In fact it is way overused.
Wow, people reading too deep into this..
😂 TH-camrs and their egos. It’s a title bro.
Don't forget building the room cost. Thanks for sharing !!
Absolutely lovely studio, very well thought out.
I love your teaching style. Easy to understand and always full of useful tips and information. Thanx for everything you do
Awesome walk through 👏🏻
Thanks for sharing your setup. You are a great instructor.
Really loving the vibe of the current setup. Also thanks for all your videos and tips over the past few years!
That's cool, thanks for the tour! I'm really interested in how the room works, can you talk about that please? How's the floor hung up (joists? concrete?), what's in the walls (brick? what's on the brick - denim? mineral wool?). What SPL do you feel comfortable with running in that room without the room starting to chime in too hard?
Can you tell us about how you amp your mains? Do you use brystons too, and if so, which version of their electronics? Do you use their analog crossover or do you use a digital one on your computer? Or does Trinnov do the crossover? If you use the Bryston crossover, how do you do the gain staging to minimize noise at the output?
Thanks
That’s amazing!!
I can hear a “Streaky” video is on from across the room. His accent is very unique to an American listener. I love all his videos.
the one thing i was waiting for you didn't mention hahahaha, what mouse is that and where can i find one? Thanks
how is the gear patched together? Is it generally fixed?
Love your studio!! I def want you to bless few records!!! Thanks for all you share bro!!! 🫡
What kind of watch do you wear?
Panerai
@@Streaky_com I enjoyed the video! And seeing some of the gear that might not be so well known. I’ve also been obsessed with learning about watch movements lately.. so that’s why the focus on the watch 😀
Do you use the Fairchild on electronic music?
Would you say it is indeed a big step up over vari mu / thermionic phoenix? Specifically for electronic music
The jon Terry right in front Wayne Bridged with the maselec
0:14 How can i use the software version of that desk?
Some of the hardware I have has been emulated…Maselec’s, Avalon etc
I love you man what an inspiration what a life, may the Good God keep all of you blessed and lots of peace.
🙏
FOR ME IT'S THE VARI MU .. I CANT LIVE WITHOUT ... THE ABILITY TO HAVE THE AUDIO IN LEFT AND RIGHT INSTANTLY IS MY FAVOURITE GAME.
Why didn't you buy the SPL Gemini for the MS thing?
Thank you for sharing! Wow congratulations for your dream looking and sounding studio! OMG!✨
Quick question for Streaky or anyone that knows: what are the advantages of using three different DACs in mastering (Hilo, Quintessence and TT2)?
Different flavours
@@Streaky_com Thank you, Streaky!
Ppl say there's no money in music meanwhile there's streaky here with a studio that in my home country of 🇯🇲 would be worth over 25 million 😂
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Hello Streaky,
which would be the different scenarios when you'd use the Manley Vari Mu or the Unfairchild?
Some nice new stuff here . Thanks for the studio tour update.
For room temperature do you plan AC at some point ?
Maybe but most the time it needs heating…nice to hear from you 👍
Nice one. Looking forward to the next song being mastered. Why do I need to master when you have all this amazing equipment?
I agree 😂😂😂
bc its about the craftsman not the tools 😄
You mentioned the Lavry for feeding the analog path. What monitoring DAC and ADC are you using?
Digital speakers from the trinnov
Nice, I recommend you add Lavry Savitr AD and then compare the audibility of all Eq and other manipulations through a DAC
if you have a winner don't try to share.
Wonderful job Sir. Love your setup and surroundings.☮️
can you explain why you have a hilo and a lavry?
It was interesting to watch, thank you. Also, thanks for a few tricks from Instagram-they helped me give my track a finished form and will be the starting point for mastering.
But, what about the room acoustics?
I would be very interested to know how your room's acoustic setup is arranged because it's clear that this is also a very important aspect.
Personally, I would choose a control room close to ideal, good monitors, and a MacBook.
When you sit in a good control room, close your eyes, and you get the feeling that the music is right in front of you-that sweet illusion worth living for.
So, I would love to see an acoustic review of your studio. Or maybe it already exists, and I just missed it?
Once again, thank you for all the knowledge you share. It helps make this planet sound better.
I have the same maselec mea 2 with you the prism one, same kind of violet color faceplate and same knobs without the edge pointer like in newer versions, but mine is version 4 according to the serial number. As far I know the 6 was in black faceplate and with the newer plastic knobs. Maybe also yours is the rev4?
Will check
@@Streaky_com as i really appreciate your input, i hope also to own the best sounding mea-2 :)
The Terry CEQ is magical. Even if I'm not engaging the EQ the resonance is sweet.
It’s sooo good love it
Which DAC would you recommend for fidele monitoring ( mixing mastering ) on headphones ? Without any hardware
Thinking about lynx or RME, I need to hear everything, thanks 🙏
Thanks for this. Could you do one like this but discussing room acoustic and size of your listening room please. :)
Hey Streaky, great run down of gear! I've got a quad 303 but every time I've hooked my NS10's up to it I get what sounds like a ground hum. Is this something you know about? If so do you know a fix? Cheers
Lift the ground on it
Killer setup, thanks for sharing. I love your vids….cheers
Wow❤❤❤tnx absolutely love this video😅
Black Lion Audio MK3 xb? Did you not use anymore?
No I use antelope
@@Streaky_com and which one from antelope?
Way to go Streaky G!
Such a cool gear😎🤙
Hi Streaky, who designed the studio?
Thanks ❤️🔥
Absolutely love this video
Thanks ❤️🔥
Streaky does QVC, I love it
😂😂😂
@@Streaky_com I always thought those main speakers were focal sopra
Speaking of insurance! After 40 years of paying homeowners insurance, I find out that it doesn't cover any of your gear, guitars, etc. that is a seperate deal, I forget what it's called, so check your insurance, nothing in my studio would be covered if something happens, like a Hurricane, I live in fl. Also goes for jewelry, antiques, art, everything you own except the basics house stuff.
Nice one I will
You didn't mention your plastic palm plants?
Im building my new house and want to build my self a bedroom/ home studio. Wanted to know what would be an ideal dimensions for the same. I have around 140sqft are to work with.
Mine is 10 x 6meters
@@Streaky_com What is your studio room height please? Thanks :)
Why the Phillips Tubes in the Avalon ?
Sound better
Lovely studio. Surprised to see no transient designer, I suppose you do that ITB?
What happened to all the Neumann speakers ?
I’ve always used the Kii for mastering
Awesome!
first 17 seconds i felt nice modern vibe, and see strange expensive interior behind
I have the Prism Titan and Ozone 11.
Perfect
Quad 303! had one years ago, that was a blast from the past!
Atmos next?? 😉
Can you say who you choose for your insurance and what did it cost please ?
Private broker
@@Streaky_com insurance is so expensive !
Would love to see a review on the Terry Eq 😃
Haven’t you got an atmos setup on the other side of the room
Superb ❤❤
What sample rate are you printing at ?
96k
@@Streaky_com because of plug-in limitations I'm guessing
What a great studio Streaky, I wish someday I will have my own equipped at least 50% as yours😅
I got to have you master a few of my tracks . The mention of reggae just sparked my ears 👂 🔥🔥🔥🎶🎶🎶🎶
Yes mastered loads
Yeah, do it. Streaky has mastered two songs for me, and I have no reason to go elsewhere for the next few.
What microphones are you using
😂
Thanks for sharing . Amazing kit. You forgot to add your chair!! 😊
Hahaha yeah true
@@Streaky_com And the acoustic treatment!
Beautiful room dude...
Cheers thx
Id love to test it all out lol! only midi keyboard and vst's for me🤣🤣
Squidgie funk accompaniment is essential
That's some mighty fine gear Mr Streaky..... just tell the insurance you need at least £2,000,000 and that should do it (Maybe).....
Great hardware rack!
amazing
Thx
Nice !
Atmos is dead?
Wow 🤯
The Beard Stubble Suits U Streaky 🫡
🙏
love a good knob ! great vid
And this is why paying for some services costs a fortune. If the service provider needs to fork out 130k for the tools, the service isn't going to be cheap.
Also add in the years of practise
That is crazy, you will get 80% results using VST software, as long as it is profitable to sell it and buy some nice car. damn
When you see Streaky posted a vid but you have to study for exams 😭😭😭
An atomic clock?!! Holy shit.
You mean a ticking time bomb Atomic clock 🤣🤣🤣 .
Umm..All that money and no screen upgrade? How did you overlook that?
What!!! Monitor works great
@@Streaky_com It's so small...Just seemed like an oversight on a spend this large. That's all. 👁️👁️👍🏽
@@zorankp Last thing you want in a mastering studio is a big screen negatively affecting the acoustics.
@@jamesglewmusic lol... get real mate..That is either comedy gold, or no idea about acoustic treatment..Which is it?
@@zorankp hahaha, never mind
“I’ve been asked many times to do a shhhhudio tour” -Streaky 😂
streaky+ link doesnt work
Fixed thx
More Free Content. No one has money. Do it that way and then reap the rewards!
Not everybody
Hopefully this will upset all the “studio” snobs with all the “audiophile” products and accessories.
No doubt
@@Streaky_comthanks for your content. Really great advice. I’ve worked in pro and domestic audio. There’s a lot of myths in both but also a lot of people wanting good sound or, my target, entertaining sound.
Do I have a studio though 😒😒
I just need to make another 129 grand then lol
Bit by bit
Brother, if you had bought gold worth this much then, how much would it be worth today?❤😮❤
Such an expensive studio, but there wasnt enough money for a camera.lol
😂😂😂
Time to get glasses..?😅
Awesome, can I ask you - do you know the total power consumption going through this rig, such as Amps and Watts? This is something i'm interested in, as I am mid build of our studio build.
How do you manage power, i'm thinking/guessing the Star Point system (is that custom built?), enables multiple mains sockets but drops all gear to a single earth?
Not many people talk about power, may be a good video..
EDIT - You legend, just found your video.. th-cam.com/video/T03w3tls8BU/w-d-xo.html
la media nae
Streaky please buy me Adams Monitors thank you in advance 😢
Come On Streaky.....really?.....can you really take yourself seriously anymore? I mean I once watched your vids with interest some years ago and even bought one of your so-called "Masterclasses".....but then I realized that you kept praising THE monitors, THE techniques and THE plugins/approaches.....but every few weeks it was another pair of monitors, another plugin etc. ...... So now you're into a big analog rig again after stating with strong belief that plugins are so great that you won't need analog never anymore in your life?
Video all out of focus and poor quality friend. Don't know what happened there!
Soz we had to go handheld so went a bit sqiffy
would have been better to reshoot.
Get glasses🤓 Seems like some viewers here have poor eyesight…
@@01blaval I think I could say the same thing about you mate! lol
@@Mike-vr7mb I see everything sharp and clearly mate😉
@Streaky_com Are you planning to do your take on Logic Pro 11? 😉😁
