How to make Angel Biscuits

- Angel Biscuits
Ingredients
2 1/4 tsp dry active yeast
2 tbsp warm water
2 cups warm buttermilk
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
1 cup shortening
melted butter for top of biscuits
Instructions
In a bowl combine yeast and warm water and let sit until foamy. Add warm buttermilk and set aside. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Give a slight stir. Cut in shortening until mixture has a crumble texture. Pour flour mixture into yeast mixture and stir to combine. Dump dough onto a floured surface and begin folding dough over on itself to create layers. Gently roll out to about 2 inches in thickness. Cut out biscuits and place on baking tray lined with parchment paper. Make sure biscuits are touching as this will help them rise when baked. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Brush tops with melted butter. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.

These look awesome! After I left WV, I cannot get HUDSONS CREAM FLOUR here, it makes such awesome biscuits.
My favorite flour is King Arthur. I’ll have to see if I can find Hudsons cream.
@@ChefKristiThymetoCook it is fabulous. The best I can get here is White Lily. Believe it or not, I failed several dishes in Home Ec in high school. I had no interest in learning how to cook. Then when I left home, I started cooking, had many failures, but I finally became a good cook and baker. My Mom, God rest her soul, thought I was her Mother. One if my cousins asked her did she teach me to cook, she said, how does a Daughter teach her Mom to cook? My Mom had Alzeheimers..Living in the deep South, we do embellish, shall I say some recipes. In lots of savory dishes, I use the amount of garlic called for as a suggestion! I love your Channel and iove to hear you talk!

Could you use southern biscuts formula L mix and add yeast to it and get the same results?
I don’t know what formula L is.. sorry.
I think you could use the biscuit mix in place of the flour. Just follow the rest of the recipe. Not sure though since I’ve never done it that way before.
