On October 4, 2017, eight heavily armed pickup trucks left the village of Tongo Tongo in Niger, West Africa. They were several U.S. Special Forces and African soldiers in search of Doundou Chefou, a high ranking !S leader in the region. Only a short time later, the Special Forces were ambushed and became the hunted themselves. The tragic events, in which the Green Berets fought for their lives on their own, became known as the deadly "Tongo Tongo Ambush."

Hey guys, this is a re-upload since TH-cam didn't like the first version, hence all the blurring. Let's hope this one stays up. As always, we appreciate anyone leaving a like and comment for the algorithm to get this video back on its feet.
Thank you all for the support. 🏴
Not blaming you but TH-cam got too soft on this matter. Ohh theres weapon, snap cancel!! This is an important documentary on remembering our heroes ffs. Sorry but I had to say this
I miss the old YT that wasn't sensored.
I love your voice, it really brings military atmosphere to the video and immerses you in the experience. 👍
What Chads those green berets were, god bless them may they rest in peace
Wish you would not post this again and again. If you want to honor my brothers and team mate. Do some research and tell their stories with dignity. Every time this comes out, it rips through the families and the team mates. Think about that before you do something just to gain likes and clicks. Also, very few know the true story, so don't miss lead just to gain views.
La David Johnson wasnt a Green Beret but after his death and show of courage he was posthumously awarded the Green Beret for being a fucking WARRIOR like his brothers he died for. SALUTE!
He earned every bit of it that day.
La David was *not* a SOT-A (Special Operations Team - Alpha) however, I do believe some were attached to the team that was sent out. These guys are SIGINT collectors and are attached to ODAs.
@@tonysmith4091 La David Johnson was not a SOT-A. He was not even in intel. He was a mechanic in 3rd Group. I'm not sure where you read or heard that but you can even see his branch insignia on his uniform, please don't spread misinformation.
@@DJ-fd4qk My mistake brother. Thanks for the correction. On another note, I should also say that the narrator for video kept incorrectly pronouncing the name of the country that the team was in. It was Niger (pronounced Ni szher--French name) NOT Nigeria lol. Just a side note in case anyone else was wondering.
God bless
I was friends with Jeremy through high school. He was such a good guy and didn't deserve what happened to him. Rest easy J.
Sorry for ur loss man.

Sorry for your loss, Truly tragic
He did deserve it, wtf do you think he would get when he shots at people? A fucking cookie?

This is the first time I've been made aware of this event. I must say that as a former member of the United States military, I'm appalled to the fact these brave men were not supported by artillery, air support, and any other support. These are the brave and proud American soldiers. God bless them all and RIP brothers.
This is not an accurate telling of what went down. It turned into an absolute clusterfuck. Look up 'Niger Ambush' by the channel Stars And Stripes and it will give you a play-by-play telling, with satellite recreation and the actual, unblurred video, and you'll see what a desperate and terrifying situation they were put in.
They were first failed by their own government for doing this mission in the first place when there was intel that this would absolutely happen if they stayed and had 'tea time' with the Elders (which gave the enemy time to set up), and they were absolutely betrayed again by the Nigerians with them who all sped off in a panic when the rounds began to pop off, leaving only the Americans exposed and alone with nothing but their rifles and a normal, civilian car that had no armor.
They literally had zero cover. A civilian car can't stop a single bullet, it will shred right through. They had no chance in hell, they were dead 10 times over. I feel so sorry for them. I watched the original, unedited footage of the helmet cam that was released by ISIS as a propaganda piece, and I'll never forget how scared they were before they died. It was not heroic, it was just sad and disturbing.

The saddest part of this story is the fact that no one in the Higher ups who ordered this without proper equipment or a QRF is going to be held accountable.
The saddest part of the story is all the fools who support unconstitutional war efforts in foreign countries.
The commander of third special forces group was refused promotion to Brigadier general and basically his career was ended.
The battalion commander was denied promotion to full colonel and his career was ended
@Stephen-bq4nq at least that happened...
At least they paid for it a little bit
Like the politicians who ordered to go into this country.
No air support? What a joke. The brass that ordered this should lose his job.
They should be put in prison. Losing their job would be a slap on the wrist

Operating deep behind enemy lines without air support nearby or available is part of the risks associated with certain mission sets of many SOF units. These men were compromised and lost their lives. It’s sad but sometimes it’s part of the job they signed up for
Rest In Peace brave warriors. These men need all the recognition the country can give.
It’s been awhile since I last saw a a good military movie in the theaters. If there was a movie based on this mission as a tribute, i’d def pay to watch it.

The military is the biggest scam. Literally the elites control the world. These countries are faking hating each other. Jeez so much for staying together. When they “realized “ the 3 were left behind it was already too late. Tragic and unfortunate. True warriors should forever be remembered.
🇺🇸 Brothers thank you for Having to Give All💯🙏
Given the massive power and might of the U.S. military, it's unforgivably tragic that any member should find themselves alone and isolated in any situation. From attack helicopters, to fighter jets, to drones, and all the electronic capabilities, there should never be a situation where overwhelming support isn't immediately available. RIP 🙏
The group that runs the former united states isn’t tryng to save the lives of it’s Europeans. It wants them all dead. Especially in foreign lands fighting for people who they are not of.
I feel you and I get why many would think so when the whole US military is as powerful as it is, but all too often it is bureaucracy and budgetary/logistical reasons that keeps that from being the case. Unless an operation is happening at a specific time and place in which they are actually expecting combat to take place, the amount of effort and money it takes to transfer/maintain all of those said resources to be waiting on standby over there for every operation just isn’t always going to be there; this is especially so when AFRICOM operations weren’t as high of a priority at the time compared to other places.
From what I understand, this was originally supposed to be more of a diplomatic mission to establish good relations and gain intel while training with local partner forces (very routine mission for SF). Unfortunately, they just weren’t expecting such a large contingent of fighters to be waiting in ambush for them on their way back. The ambushers knew they would be arriving beforehand and had plenty of time to plan their coordinated ambush.
Nonetheless it is really unfortunate that this happened, and I do agree with your sentiments in wishing that they had more resources to support them on-hand that day. But situations similar to this happen more often than people realize; it’s just that when it happens as bad as this on a single operation that the public ever learns about it because multiple grieving families from the same unit learn about it at once so the media picks up on that.
All of that and they can't beat poor farmers in Afghanistan or Vietnam 😂

This is one of the saddest combat stories I’ve heard in a long time. Rest in peace heroes and thank you for your service 🙏🏽. I honestly wish when we send out special operators that we send out way more than we do sometimes. As good as they are it only takes a situation like this to overwhelm them. I’d rather we have an overwhelming force and spend more taxpayer dollars getting weapons systems and vehicles to where they are operating than create more gold star families.
Trump sent those boys in there, he had the fuckin' money.... they wanted to keep it quiet, now those boys are dead.
Or don’t get into pointless conflicts and we won’t have to spend any taxpayer dollars. IS wouldn’t exist in Africa or the Middle East for that matter had the US not invaded iraq off the advice of Israeli politicians, supported Israel in their occupation and funded Al Qaeda to fight proxy wars. He could have kept running and saved himself but he went back for Jeremiah Johnson knowing he was going to die the two of them were facing dozens of insurgents and had no cover.
I come from an Army family and I felt this in my soul. May the fallen rest in peace.
🦾
This broke my heart to pieces. I heard the News on TV n shed tears. Although this happened years ago you don't forget.
SERIOUSLY OLD video, and it still pulls my heart strings. In all reality these men are what defines courageous men who are there to bring justice for society that believes in freedom and liberty.
Extremely upsetting, example of strong brotherhood and courage! Rest in peace, heroes 🙏
Upseting... Not only IS Tongo killed this good men... but also their leaders who sent them there disregarding their intel, lack of rest and direct requests... they have blood in their hands! simple as that!
May all these soldiers rest at ease we appreciate everyone that died I feel sorry for the families
This is a good brief but the details and context surrounding the engagement make the incident even more compelling. I encourage people to use this great summary to dig into the event even further.
It was a helluva thing.
Thank you for giving your lives. So we can live like we live here.
Ladavid sounds like a boss.. imagine making your final stand all alone. Rip champ.
The 2 Johnson’s not related , we’re actually not Green Berets , but we’re later named honorary Green Berets . The Johnson that was by himself was also awarded a silver star not a bronze .
He had better
Rip soldiers I remember seeing this shortly after it came out made me sick to my stomach I’m glad they all fought like true Americans and brothers love all my service members
True Americans don’t fight. They get ran over by communists like cowards.
This brought tears... the most painful tears.
That's sad.
My only question is, what the hell are they in Africa for the first place??
Usa foreign policy is pure madness.
Stay the hell away from other countries!
The second obvious question is why the hell is Africa in the USA and in Europe?
@@Spurdospaerde692because of the first question
are you real bro
Upper leadership failed them. Rest In Peace Bros in Arms.
Rest in peace, brave warriors. Thank you all for your sacrifices.
Brave and warriors 😂...liars and thieves and white supremacist 😂
>sacrifice
Sacrifice for what? For the US oligarchs?
When I watching the video 💀I disappointed because the video is dark
It hits so hard bro
These 3 soldiers, are not only soldiers but heroes. They are as well not only heroes but angels. I will pray for you tonight and hope you found peace in heaven. God bless you.
Rest In Peace!
Everyone must read War is a Racket by Marine Major General Smedley Butler.
This is a propaganda channel. They don't care about truth.
stfv.
This is on Upper Leadership. The Soldiers gave ALL. Leadership FAILED.
The fact they also did it like a Call of Duty campaign mission walking behind the car like that. Maybe if there were 5 other vehicles doing the same thing, but its best to break contact, let them give chase, call air support. Be ready to get no air support and running till out of fuel
As we should all do thank you so much for all of your braveness to protect and serve for your country we will remember you all as hero’s. We are all sorry for your families loss. Thank you for your services and god bless your souls you all are now fighting along next to god and he is ten thousand times stronger with you all next to him!
I watched the actual footage and seeing the amount of insurgents firing on them was crazy they never stood a chance against that size of force rip to those soldiers
Where can I watch it
They saw it and still decided not to drive away with their vehicle???
@@MegaChickenPunch they didn’t have armored vehicles so some vehicles were disabled in the fight that’s what led to their demise
@@BG-qx2st i mean the jeep they were shooting from behind was working just fine but then the driver got killed.
@@MegaChickenPunch yeah but the insurgents had technicals and RPGs they wouldn’t have gotten far especially since the main force was already retreating
I've watched this before but its still difficult to watch. Thank you to the American and African soldiers for giving all. 🇺🇸
It’s stories like these that makes me wanna join. Not the ad on TV about Emma having two dads.
Can’t even imagine how strong these men all are… wow. I am so sorry for their brothers and families
Let down by the Ruperts. Why am I not suprised? 😤
This is absolutely amazing that they were able to capture this entire event on a first person camera. One of the most saddest combat footage I’ve ever seen.
this makes me extremely angry and upset, god bless their souls and i cant put in words how thankful i am for our troops, RIP
This is heartbreaking.
May my brothers in arms rest in peace. Thank you for your sacrifice. You will never be forgotten
Rest in pieces 😅😅😅
I never served. But I'm thankful every day of my life for the men and women who put themselves on the front line for my freedoms and this country. Even in tragic scenarios like this. I pray for their families and loved ones. God bless them all.
women on frontlines ? are u smoking crack bruh ?
LOL 🤡 freedom? The US military hasn't bought a single War for our freedom since like WWII. Explain to me how Niger is a threat to the United States? I cannot believe how easy it is for Americans to support sending our military to get killed and to kill people in another country that didn't attack us, and claim it's for our freedom. Americans are stupid as hell. The oil Wars have nothing to do with freedom.
*fought
With respect to how you are feeling, this has to do neither with the country nor the freedoms. All of this goes back to invasion of Iraq, in March of 2003, which people now know it was based on false claims.
What is your freedoms looking for in a niger village
People look over the fact that most likely they shouldn't even be on that land
I’m Canadian and I lived in Niger from 1992 to 1997, went to the American School of Niamey. There was a coup while I lived there and the Marines escorted our school bus for a while, it felt safe to be under the protection of the USA! Can’t believe less than 25 years later the US Forces can be outgunned like this, the Pentagon has blood on its hands! As I always do, I thank all Americans who serve or have served for their service to the entire world! 🫡
I had the unfortunate privilege, but also the honor of witnessing the full version of this video. These were some of the finest trained warriors of our nation. And despite all that, they were overwhelmed by just sheer weight of numbers, and poorly aimed gunfire.
And I truly mean no disrespect. The first time I saw this, I was in tears, especially when even at the bitter end. Their only concern was to each other. And they died for each other.
Rest in peace warriors. Now only Valhalla awaits.
GodOfWarar221 a soldier has his priorities, everyone fights for his brother and sister on their left and right! That's what war is all about, take care of your battle buddies.👍😎💪🇺🇸🙏
@@roytsusui1761 Those emoji's just add complications to your statement.
My turn
Rest in peace soldiers, Rest in Peace.
Heaven awaits, not Valhalla. Norse religion is dead for a reason.
@@PrimeCaesarValhalla is the hall of hero’s and warriors. Perfect for a soldier who protects us.
