yeah, there are so many horrific videos of drone warfare. its a weapon that the average soldier cant really fight against unless they have a shotgun with birdshot or an electronic warfare gun that disables the drones. airpower like planes or jets are an expensive way of doing recon and bombings which most poor nations cant afford, but any country can afford some $1000 or less drones to do recon and small bombings. cheap drones are being used in several wars right now other than the Ukraine war, like the anti junta forces in Myanmar for example.
In Mosul, Iraq 2017, we were constantly worried about homemade drones by ISIS. They literally put grenades in little red cups and would tip the drone when the were over their target. Definitely caused a lot of PTSD for those on the ground in Mosul. I still get anxious around the buzzing of drones.
How did you detect them? Sound? Visually? Did you suffer any casualties on account of these drones? Did your unit use drones themselves for reconnaissance or dropped munitions?

I think most "peaceful" uses of drones will be automated using AI. Except for recreational purposes like racing or personal use, but anything that could produce a profit could most likely be automated if not now then soon What you should really do is invest in the right companies that are involved in drone manufacture
as someone who uses drones in my day job, just the tactical advantage of having a UAV overhead to survey enemy movements in real time is a massive advantage.
@@tsugumorihoney2288innovation, tech has gotten vastly cheaper since the introduction of drones in the late 2000’s, mass production is rampant now and cheap Chinese drones/radios can be made for a fraction of the price they once were 15 years ago
I always thought that having rapid deployable drones would be a huge advantage. My concept was a motor like deployment system with 270 fov and possibly thermal. Drone gets launched and just hovers and gives troops a clear view. For retrieval it either self destructs if you can't get to it. Or the pilot takes over.
@@tsugumorihoney2288 what? I couldnt even imagine how terrifying that would be to just be holding a position and hearing the whirring of the drone propellers and hoping its not coming for you.
Usually one position is held by 8-10 men; most constantly stay under cover in "bunkers" (dougouts with log roof), only two men stays on "eyes" with optics, radio and thermal visor. Those two are at risk, rest are relatively safe. This works for small drones like DJI products, who can lift up to two grenades. Recently russians got a lot (A LOT) cheap 3d printed chinese drones, much bigger and capable of carry even RPG thermobaric grenades; such thing coul kill with pressure shock even without destroying dougout. Such tech is really frightening, yes.
@@alexmalyarchuk1723 Ukrainians have been strapping large munitions like RPG warheads to their civilian drones since the end of 2022, a few months ago around the time you posted this comment they started dropping from slightly larger civilian drones anti-tank mines with improvised impact fuses put in them which has about the explosive amount as a 152mm artillery shell.

I’ve been flying fpv drones since 2015 and since day 1 I knew they’d be very effective in warfare. I can easy fly my 5” with a payload through a window down a hall, and into a target room. Just the noise of that thing coming down the hallway would stoke an incredible fear. The payload release can also be triggered by the pilot or when the drone loses power, so even if you shoot it down above you, you still need to find cover asap.

I've been concerned about the use of commercially available drones ever since they became a thing. As an Iraq War vet I immediately thought about what they could be made to do with improvisation. The sky won't only belong to the superior force anymore.
True, this is actually worse, because they're small and hard to hit, deliver a not-insignificant payload to groups or individuals, and aren't really high enough to compare to helis or jets. A very terrifying intermediary air threat between helis and jets and the ground.
More importantly, imagine someone using these drones on you or your squad while you are distracted by being in the middle of a fire fight. The constant shots would make it almost impossible to hear the drone, and who is scanning the sky for a tiny drone in the middle of a fire fight? Now even worse, imagine a dozen of these drones coming overhead at once and making some well placed drops with nobody on the ground realizing it... It would be devastating.
What you described is probably exactly how Ukraine is establishing the breach points into trenches. There's a video of Ukrainian sof floating around where they're already in a trench system and the Russian troops are so confused they don't actually know where they're at, so they just get balled tf up
Does anyone else thumbs up their videos in the first 30 seconds tops. Charles be killing me with laughter dude is a trip. Love the information and content keep it up.
The thought of those drones quietly buzzing around in the air on the battlefield is literally terrifying. Especially more advanced ones with IR capability and using the cover of the night sky to unleash hell in the middle of the night 🌙.
@Sterling Archer from where they dropped? Anti aircraft weapons try to shoot airplane . If you can use airplane on that area just drop guided bomb that can fly for a long distances and very precise. Main usage of this drones is correcting artillery, that fire from safe place. A lot of drones can be fall down in one time if enemy have electronic warfare on spot, losing of drones is common, lose many at once is stupid.
@Sterling Archer The Department of Defense tested something almost exactly like what you describe, over a hundred 'Perdix' drones were dropped from three F-18 Hornets, they weren't armed, but easily could have been. And that was 7 years ago, imagine what they have now...
Trust me bros, they don't have them yet. Mostly because it's hella expensive to build kamikaze drones that are cheap enough. You start sticking on 120$ optics you don't wanna blow it up
Best use for drones is probably recon missions, long range attacks, drone to drone combat, random attacks. And you can build a drone with stuff off Amazon that is 10 x more deadly than anything you csn buy commercially. Also laws don't really work at all on crime and stuff like this. All I need a computer, know how to program at least one language to lean C++ or python and I could have a weapon that's way scary 😄. Arduinos, rasbery pi, some long range antenna, some batteries, some high powered motors, a gyro+ GPS ( actually, don't even need that if you have dead recongning software or can code it for less than 800 lines ) and then bam you have enough stuff to start making a weapon 😄 A 3d printer, maybe like 4,000$ in parts and tools. And you'll have a big ass drone 😄 Another 3k and you got an ak47 stripped down on a servo mount with a 100rnd drum 😂 Another 1k and you have night vision and lidar over I2C with some nice sensors. Now you can do A2A combat. And you've only spent maybe a year on this. I'm a robotics engineering student, and a lot of our studies apply to weapons. Anyone who csn build hardware ans software can build almost anything these days with computers and CNCs becoming available in the home. In the future you'll see domestic drones engaged in probably heavy criminal activity like gang War or prison breaks.

This is pretty cool this seems like a video that I would do on my channel, hopefully one of these days we will be doing a collaboration or just meeting you would be cool
This was a really great video. There's such a peculiar vibe mixture of "man, this is so cool" and "... Jesus Christ, this must be absolutely terrifying in real life." I remember listening to an intercepted call here on YT from a Russian soldier saying that he couldn't sleep at night; He would just watch the sky and listen for drones. Imagine what that does to a person after a few weeks? months? years?
I remember that video. Ukrainian "Karlson" unit caught a group of russians sitting on top of a T-72 and dropped 3-4 mortar bombs on them with an R-18 octocopter drone.... brutal
I saw a video of russians sleeping in a foxhole together and the ukrainians dropped a drone bomb that landed right on them. Another time they dropped a drone bomb on a russian who was pooping in the wilderness whilist he was pooping
With the amount of "intercepted transmissions" Ukrainians faked up to this point, I'd just assume anything they publish is fake until confirmed by the other side. Having said that, I'm sure there's some serious PTSD coming on both sides of this conflict from these and other drones.
Idea for part two? Have two teams of like 10-15 people have an air soft battle with their own objectives etc. but have one or both teams have a drone doing runs on them randomly. If it’s not too dangerous, perhaps allow people to shoot at it if they can whichll require the drone to use stealth and speed to avoid getting disabled. Imo it’d be more realistic if doable
This is one of the funniest yet terrifying videos. I could tell when it was fun then turn heel. Best video but also scary how you guys were messed up by just one drone with one payload.
One of the things that's really terrifying is also that whenever someone's injured, when other people go and help them they become even easier targets. Straight up cruel stuff
Agreed, but that has always been a problem in warfare. Though many military strategists would prefer to wound an enemy rather than killing them, because not only is that enemy incapacitated, but also (1) other soldiers have to drop what they're doing to grab their buddy, and (2) it ties up logistical resources to evac the injured and provide medical care in a battle zone.

yeah, there are so many horrific videos of drone warfare. its a weapon that the average soldier cant really fight against unless they have a shotgun with birdshot or an electronic warfare gun that disables the drones. airpower like planes or jets are an expensive way of doing recon and bombings which most poor nations cant afford, but any country can afford some $1000 or less drones to do recon and small bombings. cheap drones are being used in several wars right now other than the Ukraine war, like the anti junta forces in Myanmar for example.
You should see the Kamikaze drones.
Brandon is low key a more believable actor than most of Hollywood.. Brandon’s hilarious but terrifying true dad advice is on point..
The US government, specifically the SeeEyeAye, arms, backs, and funds ISIS. Operation Timber Sycamore.

I'm not coming down on you, I'm genuinely unsure how vets feel, or if they even know that their own government supplies its "sworn enemies" for the purpose of artificial conflict, war profiteering, and draining the American tax basin.

True, this is actually worse, because they're small and hard to hit, deliver a not-insignificant payload to groups or individuals, and aren't really high enough to compare to helis or jets.
A very terrifying intermediary air threat between helis and jets and the ground.
Ever heard of the faa?!.
Charlie always gets me, this definitely needs to be revisited in a future video. We need to see what the capabilities of these drones truly are
More importantly, imagine someone using these drones on you or your squad while you are distracted by being in the middle of a fire fight. The constant shots would make it almost impossible to hear the drone, and who is scanning the sky for a tiny drone in the middle of a fire fight? Now even worse, imagine a dozen of these drones coming overhead at once and making some well placed drops with nobody on the ground realizing it... It would be devastating.

Main usage of this drones is correcting artillery, that fire from safe place. A lot of drones can be fall down in one time if enemy have electronic warfare on spot, losing of drones is common, lose many at once is stupid.

2 1/2 minutes in and I can already tell that this video won’t be long enough!
These are scary enough on their own but the kamikaze drones that can zip down to blow you up at any moment are truly terrifying.
Especially when we start talking swarms.
Trust me bros, they don't have them yet.
Mostly because it's hella expensive to build kamikaze drones that are cheap enough.
You start sticking on 120$ optics you don't wanna blow it up
Japanese drones? Made by Sony and Panasonic no doubt
Arduinos, rasbery pi, some long range antenna, some batteries, some high powered motors, a gyro+ GPS ( actually, don't even need that if you have dead recongning software or can code it for less than 800 lines ) and then bam you have enough stuff to start making a weapon 😄
A 3d printer, maybe like 4,000$ in parts and tools. And you'll have a big ass drone 😄
Another 3k and you got an ak47 stripped down on a servo mount with a 100rnd drum 😂
Another 1k and you have night vision and lidar over I2C with some nice sensors.

I remember listening to an intercepted call here on YT from a Russian soldier saying that he couldn't sleep at night; He would just watch the sky and listen for drones.
I'd rather get some sleep. If I wake up dead, I'll have breakfast with Jesus 😇
With the amount of "intercepted transmissions" Ukrainians faked up to this point, I'd just assume anything they publish is fake until confirmed by the other side. Having said that, I'm sure there's some serious PTSD coming on both sides of this conflict from these and other drones.
You need to listen to more "interceptions" from the ukrainian theater)
Idea for part two?
Have two teams of like 10-15 people have an air soft battle with their own objectives etc. but have one or both teams have a drone doing runs on them randomly.
If it’s not too dangerous, perhaps allow people to shoot at it if they can whichll require the drone to use stealth and speed to avoid getting disabled.
Imo it’d be more realistic if doable
Probably use IR lazers and hit markers on everyone's vests and the drone. Epic lazer tag. Maybe some simulated gunfire noises
