They were an amazing duo. They were singing partners for years, won best duo at the CMA's several times. They were also best friends, probably why they were so amazing together. They have tons of duets.
It's just so funny, and your reaction is great! They had another fun uptempo song - Louisiana Woman Mississippi Man. As Soon AS I Hang Up the Phone was good, but their very first duet. After the Fire is Gone is stunning. They had great chemistry.

Ruth Buzzi was a character actress, comedian and singer who was on a weekly TV show called Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In. She played an old lady with fishnet on her head, bagging stockings, and old sweater.
I first heard this back in the seventies because my parents were big country music fans. Conway and Loretta are one of the classic duets in country music history along with George Jones and Tammy Wynette. They had a number of hit songs together as well as each of them having a great individual career.

Loretta Lynn is notorious for her song, "The Pill", which was banned by country music stations nationwide. She co-wrote the song in 1972 but the record company refused to release it until 1975. It STILL sold over a million copies worldwide. I hope you react to it soon.

This is probably the most successful duo in Country Music history. They made 10 albums and several number 1 songs together. All while maintaining very successful individual careers. Their most famous song together is probably "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man." "After The Fire Is Gone" is another good one.
Out of all the duets(George Jones/Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash/June Carter Cash, Porter Wagoner/Dolly Parton, Jim Ed Brown/ Helen Cornelius & the lists goes on) my favorite's Conway & Loretta. I LOVE them all. But for me, they(C&L) were always having a fun time singing together. Listen to their cover of Jim Stafford's song, "l don't like Spiders & Snakes" Conway & Loretta will CRACK YOU UP with this one. Any song they do together or separate are great. I saw a special on CMT in the early/mid 1990’s with Loretta and Conway where they had mentioned that Loretta’s husband was the one who had found my favorite duet for them! And they have so many awesome duets! Loretta and Conway were very good friends too! I also like their songs “Making Believe” and “Spiders and Snakes” but they have so many awesome ones! And they have many many awesome solo songs as well! I was lucky enough to see Conway in concert in Tacoma, Washington shortly before he passed away. He was still filling venues like The Tacoma Dome!

They were two of my favorite all-time country stars and I cannot believe that I missed this song. I even met Loretta when I was stationed in Germany and had her autograph the back of my wife's picture. Lucky for me, my wife loved them also

Connely and Larreta recorded several albums during this 70s. Another great duet theme in country music was Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner. They had some pretty funny fight songs as well.
