    "That's my job". By Conway Twitty. Is probably a song that will make both of you cry. Conway way a country super star. He started in rock n roll back in the 50's. Huge huge hit. "It's only make believe." "Lonely blue boy" is my favorite.

    When it comes to Conway, they call that a “growl”- lots of babies have been made with Conway playing in the background 🤣 my favorite of his is “goodbye time”- his voice is incredible. There is a guy named Glen Templeton who sounds just like him, he even had the honor of playing Conway in a musical about his life- he was chosen by Conway’s daughter to portray him!

    He had some risque songs for the day...I'd Love to Lay you Down, You've Never Been this far Before, and others... He wasn't called the panty dropper for no reason. Awesome singer with magnetic stage presence to boot

    • @joeday4293
      @joeday4293 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Panty dropper for sure. If you're in the R&B world, think of Conway as the country Luther Vandross. Or the country Marvin Gaye. He made housewives in curlers and bathrobes want to leave their husbands. If you want to hear one of the greatest - as well as kinda naughty - love songs ever, "Love To Lay You Down."

      Yes sir! He came down to a honky tonk back in the day in Alabama and the ladies were leavin bras on the stage. lol 1am in the morning at the local bar and Conway's "don't take it away" came on and you can bet there was some serious belly rubbin going on the dance floor. 😂

    The Conway growl was a signature sound. That "country name" was a stage name. Conway was born Harold Lloyd Jenkins. Conway held the record for #1 hits until it was finally broken by George Strait. If I had to recommend the next Conway song, it would be "That's My Job".

    A lot of people don't know this about Conway::::::Harold Lloyd Jenkins, better known by his stage name Conway Twitty, was an American country music singer and songwriter. He also had success in the rock and roll, R&B, and pop genres. From 1971 to 1976, Twitty received a string of Country Music Association awards for duets with Loretta Lynn.

    A friend of mine would always check the bars' juke boxes for his favorite Conway song "Tight Fittin' Jeans". When he finally found it I heard the song for the first time. He said the song was every small town country boy's fantasy. Watching him listen to it I suspected it brought him memories of fulfilling that fantasy. If it did he never said.

    If you're going to do country, you've really gotta do George Strait! I'd start with "Amarillo by morning", a more recent song that I like is "she let herself go".... Also I'll put in another plug for Lorrie Morgan. She has old style country and new. A picture of me, and something in red sound old country and I didn't know my own strength sounds newer. She had 40 hit singles so you'll have lots to choose from!

    Conway could get away with songs others couldn't. Dive into his catalog. My personal favorite is his live performance at the Country Music Awards of Goodbye Time. He put everything he had in a song. I'd Love to Lay You Down, You've Never Been This Far Before will make your jaw drop.

    Conway was a huge star back in the day. Even rivaling Elvis for a few years. In fact if you have ever seen the movie Bye Bye Birdie, the Birdie character was a big music star who got drafted and the girls all going crazy when they heard he was going in the service. Well that was what happened to Elvis in real life, and the characters full name in the movie was Conrad Birdie. A shout out to Conway Twitty. Jay for a song that will grab your Dad feels, y'all need to listen to Conway's "That's My Job." Amber, if you want to hear one that will touch your Mom feels, check out Melba Montgomery singing No Charge. Both about the love and relationship of parents and their kids. Hey, found links for both. Conway Twitty was a rock and roll singer in the '50. He had a #1 hit called, "It's Only Make Believe." He became a country singer and had the most success. Check out one of his later songs, "I'd Love to Lay You Down." Conway Twitty was a stage name, from Conway Arkansas, and Twitty Texas.
    Also in the 80's he had an amusement park in Nashville called Twitty City. It was pre-Dollywood. It was popular in the '80's into the '90's. It closed just after his death.

    I am an old school country lover. I prefer anything from the 1940's to the 90's. Conway was one of the first I remember listening to besides Elvis. I was born in '75 and loved the 80's but there is just something about older musicians. My playlist consists of Big Bands (Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, ect.), Kitty Wells, Lorretta Lynn (my idol since I was 5 years old and Coal Minner's Daughter came out), any Rock N' Roll song of the 50's and 60's, up to Enter Sandman from Metallica. I love watching your channel and seeing you enjoy music that many younger generations haven't even heard of. Keep up the great work and stay well.
    P.S. Would love to see you react to George Jones "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" one of my favorites of his. And Ronnie Milsap "Lost in the 50's Tonight" or "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On" from Mel McDaniel. Or John Anderson "Swingin' or "Seminole Wind". Oh, the memories!!!
