- Today in the workshop i take a log of wood which was set to be firewood and make a vase from it. i believe the wood is Silver Birch , this woodturning was a fun one although intimidating at times. as always i turned this Vase on the record power coronet herald wood lathe and used my easy wood tools carbide turning tools . i finished this with flames o give it a rustic look and wayne big feeties homemade finishing wax

Wow! Major fire. Should call it Fire Vase. Call the Fire Dept!!! It is really beautiful. Awesome job Jamie. Another amazing piece from an amazing artist. Another for the Jamie Museum. 💕😊💕🇺🇸
Jamie Museum, i like that..... Thanks
Another very nice piece JP. Love the contrast between burned and polished. Excellent choice.

Thank you
Nice work mate.
Thanks Mate👍
Simple mais très jolie bravo JP 👍👏👋
Merci
Nice vase and excellent instruction. I have done a small birch vase and like using small branches or logs rather than a blank. It seems like birch does not check as much. Is that your experience ?
thank you very much, that seems to be accurate yes, to be honest the length of time from tree to lathe and with the scorching i did to it i would of expected some sort of warping or cracking but nothing happened so it seems to be quite a versatile wood for turning
Nice job buddy!
Thanks mate
At higher speeds, that EWT rougher becomes an awesome finishing tool! I have a chunk of white oak and really want to try that burning technique. Will have to do the burning outside- or increase the home owner's insurance 😂
HAHAHAHA be sure to tag me in the final pictures :)
@@jpwoodwork you got it!
Very nice brother ✌️ 💪💪
Thanks Mate
Nice looking vase, might I ask why you used a food safe wax on the outside but yorkshire on the inside?
Sure, since this was and is only going to be a decorative piece and noone will be drinking from it, technically it didnt need any kind of food safe finish however this circumstance i felt i would give my buddy a shoutout by using his foodsafe wax which he gifted me in a video, no other reason that that really. hope that helps
@@jpwoodwork ahh I see. I was just curious. Good deal, giving shootouts to friends is always nice. I did the same on one of my videos also.
@@moonwoodworks4607 nice, ill check out your channel
I think some narration would be better than the music. Way better.
i agree with this comment, thats why now on my more recent videos i now do a voice over but i do still have music in there too due to not being able to use tool sounds because of the environment i live in, there is way too much background noise. Thanks for watching and the constructive criticism, i appreciate it :)
WARNING . Burning and removing excess with a wire brush while saw dust and shavings are underneath is dangerous because embers can drop and cause a nasty fire . Either clear the shavings etc away or better still , do the burning and brushing outside .
i know, all good
I don't get, or like, the burn, the fire. It would have looked better with just the oils to show off the wood.
i appreciate you watching regardless
