    Q50 was the best car in my budget range. I wanted sporty looking sedan that was AWD. I love everything about it. I haven’t had any issues with it (yet) and I hope it stays that way

    Honestly, I got my q50 back in March because I got a hell of a deal, and it was in my price range. I got it for $3,000 under kbb value (paid 29k when it was worth 32k) used it as both a daily, and a fun car and it's been a great car for me. Typed this before watching the video, but I was just too excited to keep it to myself for now.

    Recently sold my ‘17 Volkswagen Passat Rline 1.8t FWD 3 days ago, hoping to buy a 2018-2020 Q50 around next November. Right now I’m just saving up a down payment along with money for mods. This will be a huge upgrade for me especially coming from a FWD 170Hp car with no aftermarket capabilities, to something that as a ton of aftermarket capabilities.

    We recently went to a dealership to buy a Cadillac ct-5 to replace my wife's aging Buick Lacrosse. Buick no longer has a sedan in the line. Cadillac dealer did not have any new CT-5. He had one CT-4, and that car is too small. We went over to the dealership's Infiniti shop next door where they had a number of new 2022 Q50 cars to pick from. The Luxe level had everything we wanted without adding any options. Unlike other lines, including Cadillac, the entry level Q50 even has real leather seats while the competitors all start with vinyl seats. The Q50 also had full functionality when other cars were being delivered with features disabled until the dealer gets the chips to install. When I bought my first new car in 1970, vinyl seats were called vinyl because the marketing people may have been more honest then. Again, the 2022 Q50 comes with real leather. The Q50 was priced much better than the Cadillac CT-5 would have been if the dealer even had one. She loves her Infiniti. To my mind, there is no reason to change the styling when you already have a beautiful car. In shopping the 2022 cars, my initial shock was discovering the navigation systems were only offered in very upscale cars. Then I discovered that the entry level cars include Android Auto, and the similar Apple feature. This allows you to use you cell phone for navigation with the same kind of interface the built-in navigation systems display. The big advantage here is Google Maps is always up to date, without having to spend a few hundred dollars every few years for map updates. The Q50 is a great value compared to the competition.

    My 2016 Q50s had the common wastegate rattle. With no mods and 61k on the mileage, Infiniti replaces the whole motor under factory warranty. And I'm the 2nd owner. I came from a 2013 BMW 335xi and I will say the Q50 Trans is slow and sloppy. But over all its nice to buy an early year and it still looks as good as the brand new cars. Buy 1 and put a oil catch can on it and I think most people with be pretty happy.

      The later models don't seem to have as many problems, but its hard to say because they are newer with fewer miles at this point. I have. 2017 Q50 Silver Sport. All options except lane keep and surround camera. Didn’t want those. More shit that’s expensive to fix lol. Got it in may of 21 wit 30k. Drove it heavily and aggressively. Still had the factory warrant and I have an extended up to 100k. Around October noticed an issue with the heat. Would go from hot to cold. Thought I’d was the blend door. But came to find out after numerous trips to the dealer to find the problem they final found out in my that I was having a pourus block issue. But they continued to take for ever. So in waiting I never took the car in for a oil change cause I new they were going to take it to be sure on the block issue and eventually swap a motor. I’m that time frame engine blew. Rod snapped. Low on oil. So new engine replaced wit new turbos also at 50k. Car has 57750 on it now and no issues. Still in factory warranty till 70k or April 23 and I’m good till 100k wit aftermarket one. Had oil changed at 55500 wit 5w30 synthetic and now Ams heat exchanger full 3inch downpipes full exhaust turbo inlets drop in filters low pressure fuel pump and flex fuel kit going in and then ima run a jb4 till factory warranty is up. Then I’ll have it tuned by my tuner and see what she’ll make. O and the replaced the belt for the same reason. The water pump sits right above the belt and was slightly leaking so it makes a sequealing noise like a turbo whistle. If you hear that is the belt. But other than that it’s been great and no issues since the new motor and turbos went in. 7500 on motor and 57750 on body. Great all around car. Sorry for the rant lol.

Unfortunately 3.0T are not as reliable as 3.7 models but compared to BMW and Audi's in this price range still are relatively more reliable and bulletproof. The Q50 has a synthetic leather. They call it a leatherette. People will say the sport trim has leather seats, but it is still a synthetic material-like a leather blend. So we know the 9 speed is paired with the VR… we know the 7 speed on the VR pairs with the VQ(there’s videos out)…. Does that mean we could have a 9 speed bolt on with very minor mods to a VQ???
    A boosted VQ with a 9 speed, that’s insane. You get performance and great sound , reliability is yet to see, but big problem with boosted VQ is the tranny, hopefully in a couple years, the VQ will be sought after. It takes years for certain platforms to be “affordable”
    I see the last VQ cars to go up in value or maintain it. We’ll see

    • @SpeedCultureStudios

      This is an excellent question. Someone may already know the answer. I know I saw a video awhile back discussing some of the changes to the engine and I feel like this was brought up but I do not recall now! Maybe someone will chime in!
      But yes as the VQ q50 will start to come down in value when the market corrects and make it accessible for many more people but also make it more appealing to throw big mods into for a wider range of people.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s correct-the red sport 400 comes with a little better cooling system and a more aggressive tune from the factory to make 400hp. However, when you start modifying and tuning the regular 3.0t, the playing field is leveled again. Ultimately, they are capable of the same amount of power with the same parts and tune. The foundation itself is no different. So if you plan to keep the vehicle completely stock, the red sport is a good option!

    • @brandonwellhausen4394

      So there are several reasons to buy a Red Sport. It will have way less ability to over boost and save your turbos which is commonly why guys complain about turbos going out. The turbos are rather small but very capable--we have seen their potential. As I mentioned in the video--the belt snapping issue was essentially isolated to the first couple of years of the 3.0t. We don't hear about it much anymore at all. There are some cool EVs out there, but it might be premature to say they "are the future." There are states that don't even have the infrastructure in place to handle the electrical demand currently, let alone if a large chunk of the population moves to EVs in a short period of time. EVs will be "part" of the future, but I'm not sure they will "be" the future. We will see how it all plays out.
