Overall this was a great comparison video.
Although, In the sustained Highway performance comparison portion, I feel like the difference between these two motorcycles, seems to have been glazed over and not properly addressed. For potential buyers that actually are looking into purchasing one of these options as a daily commuter, this difference could be a dealbreaker. In the TH-cam channel "Now let's Review" Ethan gives an excellent and honest review of the Metacycle and it's limitations with sustained highway performance. He gives his review from an owners perspective and states that the Metacycle cannot maintain highway speeds (75-80MPH) for more than two minutes without cooling down and a mandatory reduction of speed (high to mid 60's MPH). This happens in both regular “drive mode” and “sport mode“. This could be especially problematic for highway commuters, and leave you vulnerable to being rear ended if you're being tailgated. From other TH-cam coverage and motorcycle media outlets; it is stated that the Ryvid Anthem can sustain highway speeds of 75 to 80 mph (with smaller sprocket option) without a mandatory cool down or slow down period. This, of course would be at the cost of quicker depletion of the battery. This was also confirmed by the reps at Ryvid and it would be foolish for them to make an exaggerated/borderline lie that we know all too well Sondors has been guilty of more than once. My personal correspondence with the Ryvid team through email and over the phone has given me no hint of dishonesty, and do not see why they wouldn't be as upfront with this aspect, as they have been with everything else. This aspect alone makes the difference between an actual commuter tool (which is also fun to ride) versus a toy-ish feeling product (that is mostly, only fun to ride) that you can use for commuting, if you're commute is only about 20 miles or so with little to no highway riding. Full disclosure; I am a launch edition Ryvid Anthem adopter and I am biased. There's nothing wrong with being biased, we all have them. Also, considering that this channel's foundation was based off of coverage for the Metacycle. This video did seem to favor the Metacycle based off of it being the cheaper option of the two. But as this video also stated, with the price hike of $1000 for the Metacycle, that price gap is becoming more negligible. In my opinion, the difference in price is worth the bump in quality that you get in the practicality of the Anthem. Not to mention the complete omission of regenerative braking in this video that the Anthem has over the Metacycle. It was disappointing to see, however, that this important distinction seemed to have been glazed over and dismissed. 12:10 (Hopefully not out of biased) Perhaps a round 2 is in order? A rematch when you receive your personal Metacycle and possibly get in contact with someone who takes delivery of an actual final production model of a Ryvid Anthem. I would most definitely tune in for that. 😊 Hopefully, my comment did not come off too negative and I will continue to enjoy all your great content. All the best!

I have a metacycle with a little under 1k miles on it. With mixed driving (35-55mph) I get at most 40 miles, 50mi if I stay at 35-45mph. He's spot on with the battery, it isn't meant to be taken out to charge (takes 3-5min) and the bolts are threaded into the aluminum frame. Also the sport mode turns off after a few minutes and has a minute or two cool down time. I bought the metacycle when it was $5k and for that price I'm not upset with my purchase. Now that it's $6.3k (i paid $700 for delivery) I'd suggest the ryvid solely because the company seems more transparent about their product.

Thank you for the open review and clear info about performance vs claims!!
Deciders for me are ride comfort (esp less jarring at speed-our roads can be poor) and delivering on claims (basic truth/integrety) are keys for me. In looks, I prefer the less futuristic appearance. B/c I live where temps are under freezing for months, being able to bring the battery in and leave the cycle in the garage is a Major plus.
Those aside: Availability at present (Oct 2023):
Sondors is in ‘make to deliver’ production, though delivery is 2-2.5 months out at the $6500 price in this vid (full payment up front!).
Ryvid is forecasting Spring 2024 availability at $8995 (~$1100 higher than pricing they stated in vid)/ $100 deposit. So delayed availability, higher price.
Tougher call to go Ryvid given changes in availability and price and likely has much to do with when you want the bike as well as your key priorities.

Thanks for the honest review as one can only make an informed decision knowing the facts. Looking at the Sondors, I thought the seat would be pain-filled as it is so slim and short. What I don’t understand with these bike manufacturers is their inabilities to make a fast, longer lasting bike. I have seen other manufacturers create said bikes, but their prices are astronomical not economical. Pity.

I have a bad taste in my mouth after seeing that Sondors has again promised data which it could not substantiate. You may remember its rollout of the Sondors ebike in 2015 where there was a big discrepancy in range, weight, top speed and brakes. I find that Sondors basically lied about the availability of the non-painted brushed aluminum frame, the 0-60 acceleration times and the removable battery. The removable battery was a big deal for those who live in apartments and have no way to charge the Metacycle in the street. One of the big pluses of the Anthem was not even touched upon in the video. The Anthem would be able to charge while on the road at any public charger with the J-plug, whereas the Metacycle is charged only where the 120 volt plug is available like at home or work.

  • @howcanthinkman8519

largest issue for me is battery which = range...
some people don't want to spend 10k~ or so on a ebike to get 30-40 mile range, when due to there location even "babying the throttle" will not get them back home. its not so much about wanting to go 24/7 70mph its more so of wanting range to go to the city and back.. USA doesn't have emopeds yet that have good range, and most emoto companies are only really looking for people that are already in a city....
if you live in a small town with nothing there with a city around 30 miles away with hills etc having a small battery but huge power isn't really needed, an option to always have a larger battery that isn't going to affect the purchase as much as 30% just for 1 kwh is just not worth it.

If it were meant to be the least bit honest it would be called Sondors Metacycle shipping now $6,500 (Includes delivery and Doc fees) VS Rivid Anthem Prototype (Taking orders now $7,800 PLUS SHIPPING w a $500 discount shipping could add another $500) ETA Sometime next summer as long as nothing happens like what happened to Sondors bringing a new motorcycle to market. If you wanted to be honest you would have gotten your hands on the Prototype Metacycle with pop out battery, 80 MPH Speed and 80 Mile range w 6.9 sec 0-60 (That was the spec on the prototype but they don't always match the bike that finally makes it into full Production) Right? They don't always deliver exactly what they show on the prototype right? Or at the time they promise Right? And you would have ran those 2 next to each other. There are so many hacks profiting clicks on Sondors back and always have been. The views on this one are kinda weak. P.S. Metacycle battery is easily removable in 2 min and if you couldn't do it over and over again as many times as you like without damaging anything, you should not be near tools at all.

Nah man I would say Ryvid is the better buy and here's why:
    Ryvid has
    1. A true quick and easy detachable battery (possibly a deal breaker if you cant take your bike in an apartment or can't reach an outlet to charge)
    2. Has a more comfortable seat
    3. The seat can adjust its height
    4. Can sustain its higher speed on the highway
    Sonders
    1. Looks better but who really cares about the looks
    2. Cheaper
    3. Can possibly have more accessories due to the open space in the frame
    Final thoughts:
I have seen almost every youtube video about Sondors and Ryvid. Range and speed seem to be similar with both bikes. Almost everyone dislikes the seat on Sondors and that the battery takes some actual tinkering to remove. Having to unscrew the bolts which i have heard takes about 2 mins. Also even then I have heard that those bolts wear out quickly and so the battery is not meant to be removed often. In order for the Sonders to hit its max speed you have to switch to another driving mode which is temporary. After a few mins of driving with the top speed, the driving mode will switch back to normal and will slow you back down to 60 mph without a warning which can be dangerous on the highway. Then you have to wait for a cooldown period to engage the top speed mode again. Sondors is a completed bike while the Ryvid is still in prototype but showing good results. I don't like the short comings of Sondors bike, and for me a true detachable battery is too important. Also being able to sustain at least 70 mph on the highway with the Ryvid is obviously better than a temporary top speed mode.🙄 So in the end Ryvid is worth the higher price but my only concern is if they increase the price past $8,000.

I would love to have one of those Ryvid Anthems for the look, style and its features including the wider adjustable seat and that it's capable of doing highway speeds at a somewhat affordable price point but I wouldn't want to wait a year and half to get one with $$$ already plopped down on one in advance !!!

Thank you for this video and your continued evaluation of electric motorcycles!
I am a first rounder on the Metacycle, and still waiting on delivery. I am unfortunately frustrated with Sondors for the lack of communication and fact that the specs are in no way living up to what they had initially promised, but people still seem to enjoy them. I'm going to hold the final verdict until I actually receive mine and am able to ride it for myself. It still sounds like it is a lot slower than what I was hoping for.
I was hoping for a smaller electric motorcycle that would go on the highways when I needed it to, but be more of an around the town cruiser, with the ability to just "lite it up" if I wanted to. There is no "lite'ing up" a 0-60 of 16 seconds. A Prius is faster...
I have started researching the Anthem, and it looks like a solid Motorcycle. I like the raising and lowering of the seat, it seems well made, and in one of the interviews, the creator talked about wanting to offer a flexible software design that opened the door to tuning. That sounds cool! However, after my experience with an "early purchase" of the Sondors bike, I am done being an early investor. Whatever small savings that are available are nowhere near worth the wait, the potential headache of a new company, and the frustration of not receiving what I bought. I bought an electric motorcycle that goes 0-60 in 6 seconds and has a removable battery. I'm over the battery - I don't need it - but the speed is really annoying.
All that said, and I just test rode the Zero DS 7.2 and I am really mad at myself for not buying a Zero 2 years ago. Zero is an established company who calls you back - novel concept. The bike is not "vaporware", it actually exists and you can ride it, buy it, and take it home on the same day! Yes, it is more expensive, but I wasn't looking hard enough to realize the true cost. In Illinois, where I am, the Zero is eligible for a $1,500 tax credit because Zero is licensed to do business in IL. Sondors and Rivid are NOT! Therefore, a motorcycle that I can buy today, ride today, and have in my garage (today), which retails for $13K ($12,995, but let's just call it 13), really costs $11,500 - some other $750 rebate = $10,750. Yes, I bought the Sondors for 1/2 that, but it's not what I wanted. I would pay double for the Zero, and just might.
In the end, after hearing what some of my friends paid for their electric bicycles, about the same, I am pretty sure I am going to keep the Sondors (Happy Birthday Wifey) and might look into something else (Zero) for myself.
    Thanks for the review!

I received my Delivery Address Confirmation Email from Sondors this week for my Artic White Metacycle. So I should be getting contacted by the shipping company pretty soon to arrange final delivery. Unfortunately it's winter time in Indiana, so I'll have to most likely wait until spring to really put it though it's paces. But I plan on taking it out a few times if there's no salt on the roads and the weather is above 40F. I'm planning on posting some short videos about it on my TH-cam channel with some quick things I notice when I finally get it. Longer videos will have to wait until the warmer weather arrives in the spring. ;-)

I live in Los Angeles, just minutes from Sondors HQ and I received the confirm-my-address email in October for delivery of my Metacycle in Massive black. Two months later I still have not received any delivery date. I pre-ordered in December, 2021 and paid upfront the total cost in August, 2022.

Did anyone notice that the the display on the Sondors is so dim you cannot read it in direct sunlight......so you could end up breaking the speed limit as you cannot see the screen. Meanwhile the Anthem's display is bold, bright and you can see EXACTLY what is going on. In my view the quality of the anthem is light years ahead of the Sondors.

I feel that the futuristic space could be better utilized for cargo, i'm sure most of us will add a cargo pod in the rear but if we can fit a small helmet in that space, why not. Empty space is a wasted space

Neither company will be around in 5 years. Better to go with an established company for parts, service, warranty repair, resale, etc.
Let's see what Yamaha, Honda, BMW, KTM, others have to offer. For now - go with Livewire S2 Del Mar.

    • @TrevorAgli
      @TrevorAgli  ปีที่แล้ว

Livewire S2 Del Mar not a bad option at all. It's sturdy and fast.
Honestly, look is not that fancy at all. The scene is in need of a drastically futuristic look, something brutally new. for better or for worse, something like what the Cybertruck is to trucks right now.

Plus the Sondors, due to its specs is ILLEGAL to go on the roads in the UK
