How to fix Battlefield 4 crash and DirectX Error

- This should fix any kind of client related problems for battlefield 4 such as directx error, random crashes, sound problem, blank screen. This has fixed the mentioned problems and so far I haven't experienced them. Hopefully it will fix the problem for you guys too.

ill try this, but of course it won't work
For the past month BF4 has been crashing on me on startup or as soon as the map loads to the point of being unplayable. Before then, it had ran fine. Sometimes it would show various error messages, sometimes not. Other times it would just completely freeze up my PC forcing me to power off the computer. The constant crashing corrupted my Windows installation. I have to reload a saved system image more than once. I googled all kinds of possible fixes. Reinstalled several versions of ATI drivers, repaired the game and reinstalled the browser plugin countless times. I even removed my cpu overlock setting it back to default. Nothing worked except your solution. Ever since I downloaded and installed the Visual C++ update it hasn't crashed at all. BF4 is now playable! Thank you for sharing this fix!
i downloaded this and it boosted my fps from 50-90 on low to 60-90 on ULTRA and also fixed my error, i have a gtx 750, thank you so much, you are a god

Really? I have replied to as many people as I could! and tried to give alternative fixes to majority of them.

I'm reading the comments below and some people are saying it works and some people are saying it doesn't, now say I was to download it and it didn't work could I just delete it and not have to worry about sorting out the files after?
I ve tried this and I don't have any crashes with screen freeze and sound loop anymore! At least for the last 8 hours. Normally I had 1-4 crashes evry 1-2 hours. Thanks a lot I reposted in ea's technical support forum and I recommend you people pass it through if it works for you too so other players will fortunately enjoy the game. Thanks a lot studiousgamer!! Now we have to work on the punkbuster kick due to disallowed program/driver. Update and reinstall didn't work :)
No problem mate and thanks to you for passing it around. As for that issue, I haven't had such a problem with battlefield 4. You might want to see if firewall hasn't block a certain connection in the game or punkbuster.

Unbelievably this seemed to work for me this evening. Running win 8.1 64x and SLI 780 and it stuttered very slightly first minutes of round it seemed which I haven't experienced previously, but nothing serious. It almost crashed once or perhaps twice in the whole evening, but no crashes so far! So if this keeps up its awesome! An amazing find it seems! Haven't tried it fully yet but great job notheless, thanks!!
Before I got complete freezes everywhere from 5-60 mins of playing.

Just to make it more stabilized, Try increasing the GPU voltage by 1-2. This will ensure that the power is syncing properly.
There is a risk in increasing voltages, But I only recommend doing it by a very small amount as I mentioned. I myself have increased it by 3 just to provide enough voltages to the GPU under the heavy load.
Sorry that I didn't reply back on time, didn't see it until now. Do you still have the crashing problem?
Don't increase the voltage of your CPU, its not necessary. Does the crashing happens with all the other games you play?
Ok , here is how I fixed this which happened because i changed the display setting to ultra in dragon age setting :
Go to document , you will find a profile data for each game u have , delete it ( so you can run the game ) , then go to display setting within the game itself and change it back to high ( this will fix the function error )

Hey im having a problem... it still crashes. Is there any other way to fix this? Im running OS W7 32bit, i5 4460 3.2 Ghz processor, Nvidia GeForce 750GTX 2GB, i can play for like 10-15mins and it just randomly crashes...
Could this fix my problem because mine would load and when it gets to the spot where you spawn and deploy it loads slow and then crashes????

Thought it might have worked but I also rolled back my video drivers at the same time so I am not sure, however since the most recent update origin did about a week ago? it has started crashing again.
thanks for the tip :D i have downloaded it and i saw unistall so i already have it. i did repair and then i searched for an updated one. so i just installed the 2015 version. i hope it works. i will like the video :D

thank you so much before i couldent go through a half a game then downloaded this and now i can play so fare ive done 5 games on ultra and not problems, though it only workd with direct11x and not mantal. i wish it would work for mantal but no only direct11x but its doning it thing.
Do you have any errors with the latest DLC (Dragons Teeth)? it only lacks in these maps and will eventually crash.

Was really hoping this would work. Running Vista 32. Downloaded and installed since I didn't have it... joined a server and while waiting to join, White screen and crash. Thanks for helping out, unfortunately it didn't solve my issue.
hey man i need your help when i open the game it says that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements that my card cant run directx 10 i have a hd 7770 core i7 8 gb memory idk what to do

This fixed it for me:
It turns out that because my default Windows 8.1 system language is not English, the OS can't read the '™' character which somehow caused a directx issue.
There are 3 possible fixes:
1. Reinstall Battlefield 4 with the same language as your Windows system language.
2. Change your system locale (unicode) to English(US)
3. Follow the instructions on this link: answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/EXE-FIX-Non-English-Win-8-1-DirectX-error-patch/td-p/1872123

Somone please help!!!! Just upgraded to windows 8 from windows 7 i downloaded BF4 and i went to go in to multi player and it comes up with the loading level screen and about 3 mins later it goes to a whitescreen and then come up with a box saying ( Battlefield 4 Stop working ) Then closes it down i tried this method please help!!!!!!
It worked for me for 1 week then the problem came back and i tried to make the steps again but it didnt help :/
I tried this and it didn't fix it. Then I unplugged my 2nd monitor because I remembered NFSMW crashing until I disabled my 2nd monitor. Unplugging the second monitor fixed it. EA's programming makes me sad.
I've got an idea if you've tried this w/o success, AND your C: drive is an SSD, AND you've moved your page file to extend your SSD's life. Let Windoz manage your memory. Problem solved at least for me. And I very much doubt if it creates any shortening in lifespan that's noticeable. IF that's your config, and you get this error you might think about my suggestion.

EDIT: Decided to stretch my wallet for a gtx 1080 so my problem is fixed but for everyone else read below. Developers still have not FIXED this issue or even mentioned it since this post was created I would suggest everyone effected to create a new Reddit post AND official battlefield forums and link this original so it can be visible to developers so they can adress the issue to everyone effected.

This didn't help me...Installed the latest VCRedist you link to and still get a crash about 20 minutes in most games, sometimes with a super long directx error, usually not. I'm not even overclocking my vid card. This is on Catalyst 14.3 r9 280x; if I go back and clean install 13.12, no problems at all. (running in dx11 mode for all).
Please read my comments on this video. I gave alot of alternative fixes for this issue :)
