    Beautiful anthem written by C.J Langenhoven. The old SA was the best. I lived there from 1975 to 1988 so very sad to see its decline 😢

      @@davidporter2770 Anyone identify the head of state shows at 2:17 ?? At that point, in this anthem themed video-picture, it briefly shows a head of state from history. Plausibly he is not honorable President F.W. De Klerk, but Prime-Minister P.W. Botha (as got replied, see below).
      So, not J.C. Heunis, nor any of the persons who had stayed very short in office: like J.Vorster. [such people like M. Viljoen, N. Diederichs, J.Fouché and C.R. Swart actually had served a longer term way back in historical times of S.A.]
      Here's another video-pointer (can give a clue): th-cam.com/video/AxSj8QjcBCw/w-d-xo.html
      My humble understanding to the wide context of state leaders at the time and how I can relate to the picture: am sort of a 'roadie' having schooled in N.Rhodesia. Remembering the great times: had visited Gaborone from the capital city, driving all the way from Livingstone [via Bulawayo]. Where it had had been a stay over night in a motel, in the first town on Botswanan side [i.e. Francistown]. I sure can remember how SBC's TV-broadcasting services had transmitted the analog signal. At the time, it also gave a signal of clear reception over the R.S.A border! So, from my regular habits of watching ZBS [i.e. way back in time, Zambian service]. I had gotten to see the picture far out on the continent, TV line-up from Jo'burg. And, over time [also recently re-visiting Harare & Bulawayo] this memory has grown strong, from memories of the line-up on TV as it happened, showing R.S.A. news, transmitted all the way to Botswana's capital city [i.e. all these experienced at the time of F.W. De Klerk]!

      @dutchskyrimgamer.youtube2748 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@gargulexpt7220 Apartheid, or as it was known during its actual existence: "seperate development" was a law system based in law designed to bring South Africa to a point where whites and blacks and the many other colours would be at the same height. Of course, eventually it became a bit racist, especially with Verwoerd. Apartheid was wrong, but not as wrong as the current government. Nelson Mandela AND F.W. De Klerk's hopes were: a South Africa where black and white could live together in peace. But instead, the ANC nowadays shits right in Mandela and De Klerk's faces. Ever since Jacob Zuma the ANC has been rewriting the history of South Africa to give everything a legal blame to Afrikaners. What if I told you that Mandela did not abolish apartheid? Viljoen started the process and De Klerk finished it. All Mandela did was reorganizing the government together with the NP's Frederik Willem de Klerk. What if I told you that there was an Afrikaner majority for the abolishment of Apartheid? Only in the north of Transvaal there was just above 50% of the whites who wanted Apartheid. If you dive deeper into Apartheid you will know that Apartheid is directly linked to the Second Boer War, British Colonialism and Imperialism and the decolonization. The Boers lived in relative peace with the black neighbours in their two internationally recognised republics: the South African Republic or Transvaal (ZAR) and Orange Free State. BecYse of diamonds and gold, y'know, blinky blinky, was there a Cecil Rhodes being extremely interested in conquering these two nations. The Boers tried to fight off the British, and were eventually succesful. But the British army was at least three times as large as the Boer Commandos. The Boer resistance was taking too long and as such Boer women, Children and elderly were imprisoned in concentration camps. The conditions in these camps were horrible. More people died in the camps then soldiers in the field. Way more. This small genocide of Boers was predicted by Siener van Rensburg as was many things that actually happened. The British Crown never apologized for the Boer genocide. AfriForum begged for it. Because it would mean that Great Britain would finally be accepting that their imperialism and colonialism brought this upon the native Boers. But Queen Elizabeth did not find it necessary to apologize for this terrible deed. Because many British soldiers died. Every Boer killed or wounded about 3½ British soldiers. I don't know exactly but Wikipedia knows. The Boer War was over, the Afrikaners had lost. Their houses and farms burned, their animals slaughtered. The British had lost too many soldiers in South Africa and as such Afrikaners got an important role in the new Union of South Africa. This is why the Van Riebeeckvlag is a Prinsenvlag with the British, OFS and ZAR flags. The ZAR flag would form the basis for the modern SA flag 🇿🇦. The British did not want the Boers to rebel and as such Afrikaans became an official language and Afrikaners got voting rights.

    The sad thing here, fellow hominids, is Nobody will understand until they live in Africa for themselves and experience what living in an ineptocracy is like for themselves.
    It's easy to pass judgment and demonize the decedents of colonists who did not choose to be born in Africa.
    How it is so easy to hate on these decedents, born into a county just as you were yourself. Long forgotten about by the European governments that sanctioned their colonization generations ago. Forsaken is the Afrikaner.
    The only way for people in Europe, USA, AUZ, etc, to truly understand this, is to live in South Africa for a couple of years. Without doing this, you will likely be swayed to demonize rather than empathize.
    - Remember to try and identify double standards, they are truly everywhere, and every single piece of info we are ever fed is engineered to persuade you towards a certain narrative.

    South Africa after 1994 and today: Despite the end of Apartheid it is the most unequal country in the world, the majority of the people live in extreme poverty, a destroyed and obsolete healthcare, very violent with robberies and riots, high taxes, high unemployment, extremely corrupt and outdated services.

    It would be much better if they wanted to demonstrate the end of racism and segregation, instead of removing the flag, placing the flags of the Zulu Kingdom and the Xhosa Kingdom next to the flag, showing the British, Dutch and South African origins of the nation. Despite this, I think the best thing would be to keep the exact same blue, white and orange flag, without any alteration, over time it would be cleaned and the segregationists would be left without their own flag.

    From Wikipedia: "However, at a rugby union test match against New Zealand in 1992, the crowd spontaneously sang "Die Stem" during a moment of silence for victims of political violence in South Africa,[23] and although it was ostensibly agreed upon beforehand that it would not be played, an instrumental recording of "Die Stem" was played over the stadium's PA system's loudspeakers after the New Zealand national anthem was performed, and spectators sang along, sparking controversy afterwards."
    Now, after 30 years of so-called freedom, victims of crime during the last 30 years outnumber victims of political violence in the preceding 50 years by 10 to 1. I hope that the activist world that was the direct cause of the collapse of South Africa is proud of their achievements. May they all E.S.A.D.

      @@madimetjamahlatse9270 I'm glad things panned out for you and to your advantage. My comments may come across extreme but it not the case. It's my opinion if the World had left us alone, our Country wouldn't be as devastated as it is currently. We knew that Apartheid wasn't sustainable and that Majority Rule was inevitable. That was why Apartheid changed to Seperate Development. The theory was that each of the 12 tribes in South Africa have their own State, something like the UK. But, with Angola coming to the fore and the Police in the Townships, vast financial resources were allocated to the Military. Also, with the Militant Blacks making trouble turned the heat up amongst the Whites as with the overseas propagander etc, the Communist World pushing through the UN that Apartheid was a Crime against Humanity but it was their agenda to get their hands on the Minerals here down South, nothing more. I believe that we would have taught the Majority a work ethic that is lacking in todays labour market. Everything that has occured, from the destruction of all Government Departments to SAA, Denel etc and all the Municipalities could have been prevented as the people would have been taught a work morality similar to the Whites who built the Super Power of Africa. But thats how the cookie crumbs, all those young people whom perished on both sides could have prevented. Have a good evening and Pray for our Country because it's in a fine mess and getting worse.

    I hate apartheid and I prefer South Africa to be a "reënbog nasie" a rainbow nation. But one thing that old South Africa or dare I say Apartheid regime had is a competent government, law enforcement and military. The ANC failed miserably in that regard.

    What a lovely flag your old flag was. The new flag looks like it’s been designed in a curio shop. Terrible looking thing!
