It would not require much work to put BF on the Switch. Black Flag was on ps4 and xbone, and the PC and that had some options that really make the game look amazing. The Switch would just need a decent port.
How could a game that was originally released on superior hardware receive a “remastered” Switch version? You’d be seeing downgrades in every aspect of that port, from the visuals to the framerate.

i like ac as a series but i tried this one back on ps3 and gave up before i got to play as adult conner. it just takes waaay too long to get to the actual game...the reason i play ac games is to run around exploring, i hate the scripted bits. glad to hear its another decent switch port though, healthy for the system even if this one's not for me. thanks for the review!
The whole thing is the actual game. If you'd played the rest, you'd realise how important the slow beginning was and appreciate it as the epic multi-generational tale it was.

@@gimligoydoe I loved it too. I think there was a lot of vocal noise because the new engine really pushed the limits and some people struggled to run it but i had no issues and its one of my favourite AC games both visually and in terms of the smaller more personal narrative.
But they had to remove a lot of fidelity from the final product, surely that should be paid for? Plus, you can play something on the shitter that you couldn't before. Plus+ it's Nintendo, something worth playing on the shitter.

Ok. I think I may be crazy. At 1:26 I think the switch version looks better. I know its probably just a lighting thing, but the ps4 version looks like a bunch of plastic barbie dolls in a doll house. Im sure this is just specific to this scene tho.

SwitchWatch to be fair the natural environments generally do look better on the PS4 version, but the new engine on the old human models make them look like plastic toys, and not characters. Also - there is this trouble of them not calibrating lighting for specific scenes, so scenes that were supposed to look darker don’t look dark at all anymore.
Nice one. After playing it over the weekend, I have to say... nice job ubisoft for including a switch portat the last moment. There could have been much more of the remastered version in it but they probably hadn't enough time and just exploited the fact, how they had a WiiU version running already, so a few tweeks and minor improvements, some additions and e voila, the remaster was able to release on the switch too. Speaking from a technical perspective. It is a nice game and better than the WiiU but imho, you feel the rushed porting once again. It isn't as bad as others but as mentioned above, Ubisoft could have smoothed several things further to make it a more true remaster instead of an improved WiiU version.

I got skyrim on the switch. Nothing else like it needed 😂 skyrim is my zelda, red dead redemption and ac3. You can do all the shit plus the fights are so fun because of the tandom "cinematic" kills 😂
I have the PS3 one in mint condition so don't feel it's worth it for me.. I would have been interested to have it in HD, but it's 70 AUD here! I mean ubisoft are out of their mind. if they do a 50% sale on it, i'll then grab it from the US store.

It's not about them being "superior" -- Every other graphical effect seen in the Wii U version is either downscaled on the Switch version or missing entirely. This is very obvious when compared side by side. Even though the Wii U version was lacking as it was a rushed port to meet the system's launch window, the fact that the Switch version is supposedly running a higher resolution but *doesn't* look any better than the Wii U port is vastly disappointing. In some areas, it even looks worse than the Wii U port. The Switch can run games far better than this, but it is Ubisoft that scaled things back.
I’m disappointed... I let my cousin borrow my switch for a month and when he gave it back I saw 150 hours on fortnite (I had 40 from playing with friends) and I saw 365 hours in Zelda BoTW (I had it at 360 before I let him borrow it)

I was conveying the fact that if you want great visuals then of course play it in a PS4 or xbox but we all know that. How about comparing it to current base consoles. Once the switch has a pro version (or something equal) that's fine to start comparing. Plus there's no way of making this game 4K, UHD and super rez'd out. Except was an old nut classic RE is and enjoy.
Shame the game was so anti British and pro american. All the navy missions are about your one ship sinking the strongest navy in the world. Connor working for Washington. 90 percent of the enemy’s are British. Even going as for as you to take control of patriots and defending/attacking against the British. They actually took down a commercial for the game in the US that had Connor kill patriots. *oh i wonder why they felt the need to do that*. Connors ENGLISH father was an eViL Templar. And Connor even wears the patriot blue. Raising the american flag all over the place. Its actually disgusting. Connor is not neutral in this war. This game is noT neutral.

@@BENVAFabri Black Flag on Wii U has lower quality textures than the PS4 and Xbox One versions and consistently runs at a lower framerate, even with the patch. Assassin's Creed III on Wii U looks better than the PS3/360 versions but it does have a much more unstable framerate and issues with pop-in.
I say buy assassin creed 3 just to show them there is a market to port the assassins creed games to the switch and hopefully black flag will be the next port I’m also hoping it will get a port

Origins turned out to be my favorite. I like how they added some western RPG elements/flavor to it (though I still need to play Odyssey to see if it takes the spot). Before that I liked AC2 a lot. However, I'd really like them to remaster/port over the first AC game. I don't remember much of it, and one of my roommates at the time was still in school and didnt have a job, so when I got home from work, they were playing it on my PS3 and I ended up just watching them complete the game and never actually finished the game myself.

Black Flag was the best AC game
AC3 was glitchy on the xbox 360, so if it's better than that on the Switch, I'd say it's worth the pickup.

I'm sure there is a number of differing factors behind it.

I'm TIRED of so-called "reviewers" keep basing graphics on the PC, PS PRO and XBOX one X. Stop it! Base them on what's realistic. PS4 and Xbox one. Get better!
Hey that’s why the first couple of minutes are a comparison to those and then the rest is reviewing it in its own merits, funnily enough we used to do it the other way around and got a lot of feedback saying start with the comparison as a lot of people want to know how it stacks up first
How about comparing it to current base consoles. Once the switch has a pro version (or something equal) that's fine to start comparing. Plus there's no way of making this game 4K, UHD and super rez'd out. Except was an old nut classic RE is and enjoy.
Came for AC3 review. Left for the cheap "let's get to 10 minutes" trick. I expect better. Write more.

No I don’t think so, it’s smooth most of the time - it’s only the odd bit when there’s a lot on screen at once

@@SwitchWatch no, it's not. The game constantly runs between 23 to 28 fps. It holds 30 outside of cities, but even then it's very inconsistent.

You can't blame Nintendo for a game they didn't make. Ubisoft is to blame.
Shame the game was so anti British and pro american. All the navy missions are about your one ship sinking the strongest navy in the world. Connor working for Washington. 90 percent of the enemy’s are British. Even going as for as you to take control of patriots and defending/attacking against the British. They actually took down a commercial for the game in the US that had Connor kill patriots. *oh i wonder why they felt the need to do that*. Connors ENGLISH father was an eViL Templar. And Connor even wears the patriot blue. Raising the american flag all over the place. Its actually disgusting. Connor is not neutral in this war. This game is noT neutral.

So it looks and runs better than it did on ps3. I'm considering picking it up again on Switch but only if it's worth it compared to the ps3 version.

@@dontegraves5051 didn't it run worse on wiiu compared to ps3/360? Black Flag looked better on WiiU that's the version I played.
@@BENVAFabri Black Flag on Wii U has lower quality textures than the PS4 and Xbox One versions and consistently runs at a lower framerate, even with the patch. Assassin's Creed III on Wii U looks better than the PS3/360 versions but it does have a much more unstable framerate and issues with pop-in.
if it was Black Flag I'd buy it in a second at any price, but I'll pass on this, ACIII never really gripped me tbh.

I say buy assassin creed 3 just to show them there is a market to port the assassins creed games to the switch and hopefully black flag will be the next port I’m also hoping it will get a port

@@OrangeBox93 Same here. Black Flag was horrible. It wasn't even a real assassins creed game. Assassin's creed 3 is the last great assassin's creed game
the textures and lighting are lower quality but the character model @1:25 on the switch actually looks better than the ps4 pro in my opinion

Origins turned out to be my favorite. I like how they added some western RPG elements/flavor to it (though I still need to play Odyssey to see if it takes the spot). Before that I liked AC2 a lot. However, I'd really like them to remaster/port over the first AC game. I don't remember much of it, and one of my roommates at the time was still in school and didnt have a job, so when I got home from work, they were playing it on my PS3 and I ended up just watching them complete the game and never actually finished the game myself.
