I think that's why it's endured for so long. I can't say I relate to the "fa-she-yun", the setting (although I'm a New Yorker, the city they're all living in is pretty different- NYC was a different place pre-9/11), the crazy amount of money they're all spending- but we all have had the insecurities and triumphs and ridiculous relationship stuff. Those themes are pretty universal. Even my husband, who swears he hates the show and has never watched it, will debate the merits of different characters, storylines, and settings. And he's "never watched" it.

Abortion is wrong. I personally would never ever even think about having an abortion myself.
Women say I have a right to have an abortion claiming its my body I can, but the reality is its not just your body its 2 bodies now yours & a baby in your body & it's the killing/ murder of that baby.
In my lifetime I've known 3 women who had an abortion/s
& they have to live with the consequences of their actions & not me.
I am glad that I have never been in that position that I had to make that decision.
I would of had the baby & given it up for adoption or kept it put myself in an even worse financial situation being divorced & already supporting myself & having 2 children to support. Life can be so difficult.

It examined how we celebrate people for getting married and having babies, but don't celebrate people if they stay single and/or childless. Its summed up perfectly in Tatum O'Neill's line, '.... we shouldn't be responsible for your extravagant lifestyle....', but the whole intro shows Carrie buying her and her family presents for many occasions in their lives.

Unpopular Opinion, but I wasn't a fan of this episode.
I get the point they were trying to make, but the examples and reasoning behind it were weak. (In my opinion)
Special occasions such as marriage and giving birth are often celebrated with festivities and gifts. However, there are many other special occasions not relating to marriage and children that are just as celebrated such as birthdays, graduations, new job/raise, moving(going away party), religious ceremonies, and in Carrie's case releasing a book.
People are not celebrated just because they're married with children,, they're celebrated because getting married and/or having a child is considered as a special occasion just like Carrie was celebrated for her book.
While I didn't agree with the friend for not paying her back right away for the shoes since she was ultimately responsible for them , I don't agree with Carrie's reasoning that purchasing gifts for special occasions means that married couples with children are celebrated while single people are not.

The Catch is an underrated episode. I know Carrie gets a lot of slack in hindsight for being insufferable at times but she’s had some redeemable moments when her solidarity and commitment to friendships was on full display. I love all the serendipitous events which occur on the day of Charlotte’s wedding after Harry sees her dancing with Anthony, in her dress. Being the perfectionist Charlotte was known to be, it was Carrie who convinced her that she was fortunate to have a safety net in Harry who would “catch” her and adored her. Also, her first wedding was perfect but marriage opposite. The epic toast/roast towards the end, the awful jack rabbit sex, Miranda hiding from Steve and her feelings. Great episode IMO.

They portrayed him as kinda the bad guy for changing his mind about having a baby, buying Char the “cardboard baby”, and not wanting anything to do with the photo shoot. He ends up swallowing his pride and feelings and came for the photo shoot because he knew it was important to Char….it made me see him in a different light.

The Funeral episode from Season 2 is a hilarious take on mortality (and one of the best SATC episodes). Disappointed that the fantastic episode 'Catch 38' didn't make the list. It's a terrific episode where Carrie has to face the realistic choice of whether she wants a child or not; and Samantha desperately trying to get an appointment with a top-notch oncologist. It's always been one of my favorites and never gets discussed

I really like Cover Girl ep from season 5, the one where Carrie and Samantha fell out over her book cover, also shows again what a bad friend Carrie is and very judgmental towards Sam love life, after Sam was being such a supportive friend to Carrie in her messy relationship with Mr Big.
Also another ep from the same season is Critical Condition when Carrie gets to be told off by Nina Katz on how bad she was treating Aidan and the Times’ book critic, Michiko Kakutani basically saying the same thing on how Carrie disposes of good men in life. Also love that they show Samantha’s soft side when she gave up things important to her to help her friend Miranda.
I do believe season 5 was the most underrated from the entire series but there were some good episodes in it.

    • @maybevenu3206

Spot on regarding both eps. One of my fave moments is when Carrie was bringing awareness to Samantha’s dismissive attitude towards the fact of their BF having to make adjustments to her life and still needed support. It was so cute and touching to see Sam be a babysitter and the best line to end the scene “that better be new”. Lol! S5 is underrated, the shortest too since SJP was preggers.
