I really enjoy watching your process. I am a doll maker myself. For years I made cloth dolls. Now I am working on paper mache with cloth bodies, similar to the old China head dolls. I am still in the development phase, but I am almost positive that development will never end. Once again thank you for being so inspiring.
I'm so glad you've been inspired by my videos 😊 Paper mache fascinates me. I've tried to make paper mache dolls in the past, but without much success. I love seeing what other artists can do with different mediums!
so enjoy your videos, self taught years ago, but am always learning, love love your dolls and your videos are so helpful, now learning about felting the hair
Thanks Kathleen. At the moment the heads are sewn in a fixed position. I'm hoping to change that at some point, so I'm sure I'll make a video about it 🙂
Thank you :) You can make dolls whatever size works for you. I think the largest I've made was 16 inches. It's worth experimenting to see which size you prefer
Thank you so much for this. Your work is beautiful. I just started making dolls and I try to make my own patterns as much as I can. I have tons of questions but I will start with two. 1) How do you figure body proportions? and 2) How do you get the stuffing so firm?
Thank you! Body proportions can be a bit of trial and error, but an artist's mannequin can help. That could be a good subject for a video 🙂 I'm planning to make a full video about stuffing soon, as it's something a lot of people struggle with.
You're doll is so beautiful. Where do you get smooth metal beads, all of mine have sharp edges and cut the thread. I just started needle felting, my doll would probably end up being a poppet because I poke my fingers so much, lol ♥
Thank you :) It is getting more difficult to find good beads, but there are some nice ones on Ebay if you shop around. If you get one with sharp edges, you can often use a bead reamer to file it.
@@VondaInWonderland Yes, I try to avoid the hollow ones. Solid metal beads are much easier to work with. They're usually sold either as 'Tibetan silver', silver plated, or zinc
A super-chunky weight acrylic yarn is great for doll hair. For this doll I used Cygnet Seriously Chunky 'Cornflower' You can find it here: amzn.to/3YXNZgo (as an amazon associate I earn from qualifying purchases)

Great video! How is the dolls head attached?

@@spyderthread Good idea, I'll check eBay. I get silver beads from a local Indian Jewelry Supply, the beads are hollow so they're sharp all the way

Do you have doll making patterns for sale?
I'm afraid I don't have any patterns for sale right now. That's not something I'm planning at the moment, but it may happen in the future
Where do you buy hair ?
