- The day after my surgery we need to move our boat 19 miles in one trip, from Liverpool to Burscouh, I can't do any lifting or pushing and we need help from our friends. Poor Paul, glad you were where you were with the eye hospital. Well done for sticking with the posturing. I’m sorry you missed your holiday but it can be done anytime. We were really lucky to be near the eye hospital Crichie. We have rescheduled for June. Cant wait. Glad you enjoyed. It has been hectic but glad he is on the mend. Have a fabulous week ❤️

My husband and I live in the United States. We pay $600 per month for health insurance. The procedure you had would have likely cost us a couple thousand dollars, even with insurance. For a country who like to brag about "Christian Values", we surely exhibit very few.
We have relatives in the USA and it was eye watering how much it cost to have a baby. ❤️
Every time a politician starts talking about moving Canada toward a more US style healthcare system, I vote for their opposition. I lived in the US for 5 years and noticed that for folks with families managing their health insurance companies was like another full time job…even I couldn’t believe it when the insurance company seemed to randomly disallow coverage for a prescription they approved and I had been taking for over a year …there was always something,

Totally agree Anthony. We've been so lucky to have had the NHS all our lives. I was thinking about you last week when I went for an ultrasound on my shoulder - still healing from that fall. I've been given brilliant treatment all the way along including fantastic physiotherapy all free. ❤

Isn’t it amazing how things always happen at the same time! The main thing is your eye is sorted Paul and you can both get away in the Autumn and have a fabulous time. Paul, I hope your eye is healing properly & that your vision has greatly improved! (A retinal detachment repair is a fairly big eye surgery).😮 You had a very valid excuse for your fall - with just one eye, your depth perception & balance are definitely affected! Anthony, your comment "I'm not sharing a double bed with a woman" totally cracked me up! 😂 Hope you're both well & able to relax & enjoy the weekend! Yes, I think too many people in UK forget how much medical services cost in places like the US. Even with expensive insurance our out of pocket expenses can be huge ! And for some medical expenses can be disastrous. BTW Paris in the fall is absolutely gorgeous.

in Australia in 1972 Medibank was introduced as a National Health Scheme but tinkered with over the decades and original concept lost maybe our new government could be trying to get back to the original intention if the opposition allows them

We found you by accident going through TH-cam and were hooked.
So went and back and watched all the volgs, 4 a day. Weve enjoyed every minute, and cant thank you both enough for sharing you journey.
The beautiful scenery and all the lovely people you meet, pauls wonderful art work, the way you banter together and not forgetting gorgeous Dexter, hes so sweet.
We hope Paul's eye is on the mend and you are both well. Once again thanks for what you do, i dont think you are aware how much it means to alot of people, watching your vlog.

That was some miles to go with crew member Paul on virtually no duties, great to have good friends.The route did look lovely. Oakhams have been brilliant helping and fiixing with the boats needs. The exhibits we saw in the Association of Animal Artists looked incredible. I'll be sad when Narrow Escapes finished next week, it has been very interesting with some characters --Sam the bike repair man springs to mind lol Nearly Crick, hope to "bump" into you three on the Sunday, enjoy your week upto that xxx

This vlog is a brilliant gentle comedy based upon the enjoyment of life. You two appear to be mastering the art of choosing how to perceive things rather than simply reacting to them. I’m from USA and boy do I wish we had something like the NHS. I pay over grand monthly just for my medical insurance and then there are out of pocket expenses if the insurance does not cover something..

Paul, I’m glad you're OK after you slipped on the mud, good job you fell on your right side, as had it been on your left side you may have ended up in the canal. Yikes!
I remember back 60+ years ago St Pauls’ in Liverpool were at the top of their game then. Very pleased you’re getting better.
I always find it interesting when you talk about your electric consumption. I suppose it’s a bit like your water usage, with the electric do you adopt the same strategy re: only use electric when really needed. Are you able to cut down? Cooking has to be done, and who would not want Anthony to stop cooking his amazing meals?
You and Oakhams have been amazing together.
Should CRT start installing charging points along the canal? Because electric boats are the future. But having said that, Diesel boats will be phased out, but it might be a different energy source and not electric that becomes the preferred power supply.
You will love Paris when you eventually get there. It’s such an amazing place.

We are so lucky that Paul got to have his eye done at St Paul’s. It is slowly getting there.
We are lucky that we can use pretty much what we want electric wise.
I do think charge points may become the norm along the canals.
I can’t wait to visit Paris. Never been before so looking forward to exploring.

Glad you're on the mend. I agree how lucky we with the NHS my son was on holiday in the USA when he had a nose bleed which wouldn't stop. two. day's in hospital $26000 just as well he had travel insurance

What a really interesting week of travels you both had. It would have been better without the eye problems Paul and I hope all is completely well now.
I had a similar eye experience, and hospital stay, a number of years ago with almost losing my eye after cataract surgery in my thirties. It’s so boring when you can’t watch TV or read. That’s when I discovered audio books and have never gone back to print.
We had a great week of travel. It was a shame re Paul’s eye. Not completely healed yet but getting there.
That must have been scary for you. Paul loves an audio book.

I think Anthony that you had better wrap Paul in bubble wrap for a while what with his detached retina and falling on the towpath you’ve had quite the time. So glad to see he’s getting better and hope you make the Paris trip in the not too distant future. I had my detached ret op 40 years ago at the old St Paul’s… I was 21… the youngest on the ward by about 40 yrs! 😂 it was an old Nightingale ward … so kinda Dickensian … but was a good hospital… had another eye op in the old Royal … it was excellent… I’m an ex NHS nurse so I’m glad you had a good experience. And yer man has looked after you… my ex was an A&E nurse… I nearly cut my finger off… she just told me to not bleed on the floor 🤷♀️😂…fab video too! 👍

Paul, I hope your eye is all better now! My dog doesn't have any joint issues, but she's a big girl, & I stir a capsule's worth of a turmeric & ginger root supplement into her food once a day as an anti-inflammatory. (Don't know if Dexter would like this in his food, but it sounds like the shots he's getting are doing him good). Anthony, I'm sorry you had to put off your birthday trip to Paris, but I'll bet when you do go, it will be a great experience. Thanks for the vlog! 💖💖💖
Dexter is really fussy about us putting stuff in his food. 😂. The shots are definitely helping him but we can’t do anything about muscle wastage due to old age, bless him.

Glad they let you change your hotel for June, Paris in June should be great, they’ve had a slow spring with loads of rain so hopefully it will be nice and sunny .
Not much new this week here, I’ve been checking out stained glass patterns trying to find one I really like and have the space to display. I’ve started to plant a few flowers, I’m going to make a pretty garden where Jynx is buried. I’ve been reading, doing my crafts, looking after grandkids and all the animals for a few days while daughter and son in law have travelled for their respective jobs. Two dogs, Loki is a Golden Doodle and as big as a pony, if he gets loose he heads strait for the ocean which is two houses away past us. It’s a real worry because he’s not that bright and runs right across the highway that runs along the ocean and he’s so big I can’t even walk him never mind convince him to get out of the water. It’s a big mess to clean him up too😳.
Two cats with 3 litter boxes, a fish, a Gecko who also likes to escape, he was loose in the house for about 6 months last time. There were no spiders to be seen all that time so that was a plus, he was discovered under the fridge eventually.
