  • Come and join us for a tour of our narrowboat - 'Rose O'Leigh'. She's our floating home that we are travelling around the inland waterways of England in.
    We've owned her around four months now, and in that time we have done a few bits of DIY in her to make her feel like home - so come aboard to have a look at what she's like inside.

    More than just a tour - the essential introduction to narrowboats!
    That coal hatch is the best thing ever. I had the idea to store mine in a box on the roof with a shoot coming down into the boat but needless to say never got around to it!

    Thanks for inviting us aboard!
    She's a winner, that coal chute is ingenious, so is the head, and that new engine is a treasure! Easy to see why you bought her, she'll be a real beauty once you've got her all done up. I love how you have pieces from home that carry happy memories, it's so much more welcoming than the sterile IKEA type interiors you see on so many narrowboats. I loved how you did Leander lady, looking forward to following along as you make your new "not a project boat" your own.
    The teapot chimney is terrific, wish there were some way to make it a permanent working chimney, it is such a charming idea (especially for a boat with an Irish name).
    Happy cruising!

      There are so many good points about the boat that she is really feeling like HOME already. I've never been in a ikea - and have no intention of doing so, re use and recycle is far better and much nicer (in my opinion). to keep the teapot would be good - if we could...

    I would not have expected so much useable space in such a small (NOT project) boat. Looks like you have a ong enough list of non-projects to keep those of us who watch your mad skills at work interested. One non-project that viewers could help you out with might be re-titled from "buy me a coffee" to "keep my beer shelf stocked." We all --or a lot of us, anyway--need that *other* kind of brew on a warm afternoon. Which reminds me. It's about time to put the kettle on for a nice cuppa Yorkshire. 😊

    Hi both hope you enjoyed Barlaston. Thanks for showing us around your home, she looks lovely. I love the bathroom idea but, do wonder if it may be a little easier if you were to make the doors bi-fold 🤔. Take care and enjoy 😊 Not a project boat!! She just wants your personal touches ❤

The bathroom doors are a little clumsy and although they do the job perfectly a little 're design' in the future might improve things, bi-fold doors may well be a good idea! Thankyou.

    Thank you Peter and Dawn for your boat tour; very interesting! I always enjoy the clever use of the limited space on narrowboats and the ingenious ideas unique to your boat, like the coal box, bathroom layout, and tiller travel limiter for instance. For a 47 foot boat, there is a surprising amount of storage space. I realize you don't consider this a project boat. However, when you are boating on a budget, there will always be some amount of renovation type project in order to keep the boat purchase price affordable. Like with your former boat, gutting and replacing the interior, probably a more accurate term would be "long term project".
    I have been working with lead-acid batteries since 1968, they work okay within their limitations. Their maximum temperature is 26 degrees Celsius for maximum life, and of course, they usually end up in the engine bay; the worst possible place for high temperatures. The standard 12V, 100 amp/hour battery is only good for about a 10 amp draw (1/10th the amp/hour rating) for maximum life and efficiency. You can easily draw more power but, the output voltage sags and efficiency drops. I don't like the Lithium batteries, I have seen too many catch on fire and totally destroy whatever is nearby.
    Thanks for doing all the videos, I really enjoy them - Cheerio!

    Hi Pete, speaking from experience I would strongly recommend a solar dump set up fitted to to solar. This will take all excess solar once your domestics are charged and heat your water with it. It’s an absolute godsend for 6 - 8 months of the year.

    Well it wasn't what i was expecting. Other than several things that make good sense to change. Its definitely not a project like the last one. Not sure why anyone would put the only heating right at one end of a boat.

    • @WingingItBoatingonaBudget
      @WingingItBoatingonaBudget  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @WingingItBoatingonaBudget non working radiators are a definite waste of space. I nearly took ours out. But having fitted the webasto I'm glad I didn't. I just wish I had a proper calorifier so it could do the hot water as well.
