  • This just shows how to hookup the electric choke, i'm not a professional or an electrician and have very little knowledge of anything. But it works and its clean. I still need to clean up some of the other wires i'm not using.

    I'm way late getting to this video but for those interested in the readings on the meter pay attention to the right bottom part of the screen. Any time you see mV that stands for millivolts. Meaning 30 or 40 1/1000 of a volt. In this scenario that is equivalent to 0 volts. Many multimeters have the ability to read these incredibly low voltages to troubleshoot intricate electronics control circuits and such. If you notice when he gets on his 12V hot the mV is replaced by just a V, indicating full voltage.

      @@sl3ndermmo you don't know something until someone teaches you. I just happen to be in the field so I thought I would share. I saw another comment where someone said they're millivolts, but unless someone takes the time to go educate themselves on what a millivolt is that doesn't clarify much. Just figured I'd get a little more in depth. Thanks for your video by the way. I'm suffering some Weber choke woes on my Samurai at the moment.

    I was getting so frustrated i was about to rip that electric off and hook the old manual back up. thing is I don't have the hardware except for the cable. i don't know why i was thinking that the electric would need to shunt off after the engine warmed up. So what it needs to be is 12 Volts the entire time the ignition is in the ON position. and zero volts with it Off.
    i might still hook that manual back up. LOL it seems kind of cool and the dashboard has it built right in, even turns on a light when you pull it out. this carb was expensive but i really do like it, way better than the KEIHN that this little Honda CVCC came with. the 32/36 works AWESOME when it's hooked up properly.
    those weird readings you keep getting are confusing me as well, I have some wires that say over 30 volts as well, what the hell is that? also , just recently i have been having a problem with the multimeter going ape shit crazy if it's within 2 feet f the running engine! I mean literally I cannot get a reading because the meter just keeps going all sorts of crazy, even when its not hooked up to anything on the car. soon as i shut the engine off it will read whatever i want. I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone about this, seems like i will be having to figure it out on my own. makes me wish i was an electrician. i am positive something is wrong, there is no way that should be happening. there is some kind of really gnarly field being generated that should not be there.
    GREAT VIDEO MAN! Thanks.

      +RockAnAhardSpot that is weird. I was having a lot of trouble with mine and finally realized it was on ac and not dc. Someone said atmospheric stray voltage, who knows man lol. Maybe we can get an answer on that. And yes that is correct. I thought maybe it would shut off too and use the heat from the engine/carb, i was wrong, its on the whole time.

      I just watched this video, I'm having to set up an electric on a 72 18rc engine. I noticed that on your meter when you were seeing over 12 volts it was actually reading mv so 0.03 volts would be 30mv. Maybe you already realised this, the video was taken three years ago, but thought it might still be helpful to note.

      Addressing the meter not working around the running engine, there are a couple of potential answers there. Firstly I would look into the quality of the multimeter in question, you get what you pay for on this front more than many. A cheap multimeter can easily get someone hurt or killed. There is also a possibility that your batteries could be low, but unlikely if it works steadily somewhere else. I would assume there is frequency interference of some sort which quality multimeters have protections for.
      For what it's worth that's all the knowledge I have available to offer, coming from an electrical and instrument tech.

    What would happen if you didn't have this wire hooked up? Would you have to wait for the engine to warm up?

    • @sl3ndermmo
      @sl3ndermmo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the engine warming up may open the choke, u would definitely think so anyway. so when its cold, the choke is closed and u can easily start the engine. the electric choke slowly opens the choke allowing more air. if you leave the electric choke disconnected, i guess you would just be running super rich starving for air because it would stay closed.
