The chokes sets mechanically. Your original power wire to the choke only gets power when running and has enough oil pressure. Recheck your power wire to the choke with engine running and see if you have power.
Curious to hear what the engine sounded like before hand. I've been having loss of power and lack of acceleration in my 87. Replaced the intake manifold gasket, which was definitely leaking but still having the same issues. The worst of it is when the engine is fully warm, the car become almost undrivable. I'm for sure going to test my voltage. Thanks for the info!
@@DragonDriver5 just moved to Sandpoint area a couple months ago and bought myself one of these old Mazda’s, replacing the Weber 32/36 the original owner had with a 38 outlaw. Plugged a new battery in and when I got to the negative terminal it blew the 80A main fuse in the engine bay, any idea what might’ve caused it ?
Tapping off the stock choke wire doesn’t quite give 12v I’ve noticed on my AE86 I get around 8v, I jumped off the wiper motor harness and got better results… fix that primary backfire before you ignite your air filter.
Oooo dude... love the truck, and the information. I possess an 85, 87, and 80. 85 daily driver.
You feed it 12v from your ignition. Nice truck man!
Why wouldn't you run the positive wire to the fuel pump??

Choke not turning off
What was your ignition timing set to
Where do you typically have your fuel pressure regulator mounted
Exactly

I was in priest river area but am in the process of moving
Ah ok I worked in Newport for a while, drove through PR every day from Sandpoint! Love that area
