I started crying at the table while playing chess with a couple of other patients and that made a few others cry. it really hit me hard. it still makes me tear up a bit, but I am home now and eight years clean. It kind of kept me going during those dark times. Blake doesn't know it but he did me a big favor that day.

Almost 14 years since I left my country, living in the USA has been one of my best experiences, especially because here I learned to listen to this kind of music very beautiful indeed, although it also has two faces, for me it is like living in a prison without bars, from which I can not free myself, because if I do it, there is no return and not because I do not have the courage to leave, there is simply no opportunity for me outside of this beautiful place full of opportunities of which I feel very blessed , God knows how strange what I leave out there, my family, my friends, my history .. I'm sure this will get overlooked, but let's remember those who didn't have families to come home to. When I came back from deployment, there wasn't anyone to pick me. I had to put on a smile and hold back the tears while everyone else was being greeted. One of the hardest moments of my life.

I know it’s hard brother. I’m home from deployment and my family’s just too far away to welcome me back. I just wanna go back home to the south right now. And I probably won’t for a while. But that’s why we have our brothers and sisters with us always. I’ve found something much deeper than blood In my military family. Nights spent up late just talking about who we are and how did we get here. Nights crying on my brothers shoulder because sometimes I just don’t know what to do or I have old night mares resurfacing. Nights where I in turn have a brother or sister crying on my shoulder due to old night mares or memories coming back. Fears of losing one another so we hold on tight to each other and make every second count. Watching them leave and knowing you may not see each other again for a very long time. But there’s always more family waiting around the corner. We’re here for you always. Wether you’re still in or out. Wether your across the world or at the barracks party next door. Much love to you my friend and my brother/ sister. 💝💝

Just started watching the American Voice and had never heard of this chap before. I have to say having stalked his music, I can understand why he is so popular. May 2024 my wife and I went to Nashville and she cried real tears… for joy for me …… as I enjoyed sitting in with the band at Tootsies bar…. And then I was asked to come back in a few days for the real audition…. I left playing drums to be a full time pilot…. Better money… but this song is absolutely me and the girl that has had my back for more than 35 years. I’m writing this from my bunk in Somalia …. My last rotation. If I had it to do it all over 40 years ago…we would have moved to Nashville ….Maybe… But home is anywhere she is.

Living in tents with no water and with limited connection via Skype to my family and my country that I love and feel so proud to call home. Almost 14 years since I left my country, living in the USA has been one of my best experiences, especially because here I learned to listen to this kind of music very beautiful indeed, although it also has two faces, for me it is like living in a prison without bars, from which I can not free myself, because if I do it, there is no return and not because I do not have the courage to leave, there is simply no opportunity for me outside of this beautiful place full of opportunities of which I feel very blessed , God knows how strange what I leave out there, my family, my friends, my history .. I'm sure this will get overlooked, but let's remember those who didn't have families to come home to. When I came back from deployment, there wasn't anyone to pick me. I had to put on a smile and hold back the tears while everyone else was being greeted. One of the hardest moments of my life.
I can only imagine. I remember waiting expectantly on the pier as my ex's ship came back. I was completely focused on him. My heartfelt hugs to you and all those returning alone. Welcome home
I know it’s hard brother. I’m home from deployment and my family’s just too far away to welcome me back. I just wanna go back home to the south right now. And I probably won’t for a while. But that’s why we have our brothers and sisters with us always. I’ve found something much deeper than blood In my military family. Nights spent up late just talking about who we are and how did we get here. Nights crying on my brothers shoulder because sometimes I just don’t know what to do or I have old night mares resurfacing. Nights where I in turn have a brother or sister crying on my shoulder due to old night mares or memories coming back. Fears of losing one another so we hold on tight to each other and make every second count. Watching them leave and knowing you may not see each other again for a very long time. But there’s always more family waiting around the corner. We’re here for you always. Wether you’re still in or out. Wether your across the world or at the barracks party next door. Much love to you my friend and my brother/ sister. 💝💝

Just started watching the American Voice and had never heard of this chap before. I have to say having stalked his music, I can understand why he is so popular.
