Its been almost 10 years since i was put in prison.... i had to serve 2 years in federal prison for a dumb mistake i made when i was 18 years old.... we had radios in there and the only channels you could pick up were the country music stations.... this song came on every single day... brought a tear to my eye every time..... how i missed home... missed my family... missed my girlfriend.... it was the worst experience in my life... but this song helped me through every day.... im proud to say ive never been back... i have a excellent job and a wonderful baby boy.... Thanks Blake Shelton for this wonderful song... it helped me realize what i left behind and what i will never leave behind again!
My step-dad is in prison... He sent me the name of this song and said listen to it! As soon as I heard the words " I wanna come home," I cryed like a baby. I want my dad (I like to call him dad that's how close we are) he will never be out 😭😭😭😭 I cry so hard when I talk to him!!! I'm only 9 so most people think I really wouldn't know much about this or care BUT I DO!!!

I first heard this song in 2008. I was in a psych ward for a suicide attempt after years of being addicted to narcotics. I started crying at the table while playing chess with a couple of other patients and that made a few others cry. it really hit me hard. it still makes me tear up a bit, but I am home now and eight years clean. It kind of kept me going during those dark times. Blake doesn't know it but he did me a big favor that day.

This song was played at least once a day on Armed Forces Radio in Afghanistan during my 3 year venture. Whenever played, every ear (and conversation) stopped...you could read the emotions in every face - Military and Civilians. Thanks Blake, for touching so many hearts" that want to go home" as they defend our great Nation so many miles away.
This song did get me through that Afghanistan deployment. Uggghhhh...... Praying for you all still fighting!

Just started watching the American Voice and had never heard of this chap before. I have to say having stalked his music, I can understand why he is so popular. He is a wonderful musician and emotes beautifully while singing. I am going to have to investigate more country and western singers to see what I have been missing. There is obviously a massive gap in my musical education which will be rectified as soon as possible. Mr Shelton you have a new fan.................

Almost 14 years since I left my country, living in the USA has been one of my best experiences, especially because here I learned to listen to this kind of music very beautiful indeed, although it also has two faces, for me it is like living in a prison without bars, from which I can not free myself, because if I do it, there is no return and not because I do not have the courage to leave, there is simply no opportunity for me outside of this beautiful place full of opportunities of which I feel very blessed , God knows how strange what I leave out there, my family, my friends, my history .. May 2024 my wife and I went to Nashville and she cried real tears… for joy for me …… as I enjoyed sitting in with the band at Tootsies bar…. And then I was asked to come back in a few days for the real audition…. I left playing drums to be a full time pilot…. Better money… but this song is absolutely me and the girl that has had my back for more than 35 years.
