This was my dad's favorite song up to the day he died. Every time it would come on while we were going down the road he would tell me to turn it up. I was an only child and my mom passed away January 22 when I was 18. From then until my dad passed away August 22, 9 years after my mom, him and I were the best of friends. In between that, I met the love of my life, my best friend, and now my wife of 5 years. Exactly 9 months to the day my dad passed away, my wife and I had our first child, my son which shares my dad's name. This song will never leave me the rest of my life and I will never listen to it without thinking of dad and I will always turn it up for him. Some don't believe in God and if you don't that is perfectly fine. But I do and even though he takes away, he also gives. So thank you Billy for this song. God is great and people sure are crazy.
I knew an old man like this. 😢😢 I cried over this song because there was an old man in Kansas that I knew, and he would drop by every Sunday to help me get ready for my spelling bee and help me with my math. One day, he stopped showing up and not long later, I got a letter from him with $15,000. This man gave me a small fortune and I didn't need it because I was happy. Words cannot express how that man made me feel
Thank you, Billy, for singing this song! My son passed away a few years ago, and after the memorial, as I was driving away, I heard this song for the first time, and I felt that my son was there with me, that he caused me to hear it. Ever since then, I have fond feelings when I hear this song. My son liked beer and was a very friendly guy. Thank you everyone for all your very kind comments. Know that if your loved one has died, that they will often be visiting you, hanging out with you, even if you don't see them, because their spirit is not dead. They just had to go to their next adventure in another dimension. A few people told me that they have seen his spirit and they told me his message for me. Some people have that ability. Love to all of you, and you, Billy!
God's grace..... that line brought a tear to my eye. Might i mention, my wife of 47+ years died from cancer, a year ago. BUT i still have hope, for a better life
As a veteran of 20 plus years, 3 combat tours , life long cowboy ( won my my last rodeo at 52 ) ...no wife , no kids ...no close family ties . The song resonates in my soul in a way cannot possibly explain. I could listen to it everyday, a dozen times and it would never get old. Thank you Billy
I am 77 years old. This is one of those songs that just brings back so many memories. You never know when you will make another friend, even for just a short time in this life.
God is truly Great !!! this song is my life. An old man I barely knew gave me his business of 40 years. Not a dime changed hands. He gave his client list to me and then said, "You are going to sink or swim. which is it going to be"? it has been 4 years now and me, " I am doing well". The business has been a blessing to me beyond words. With the business and this song I have been able tell a lot of people about the love of God through the grace of Jesus, my savior. God loves you too !!!
One of my dads favorite songs, he never listens to the radio. When he bought me my truck I only had a permit, I always asked him to ride with me for legal reasons and because he's one of the most experienced drivers I know, because of his career with Eagle and other truck companies. I turned on the radio because I simply enjoy listening to music, and he never told me to shut it off because it was my truck. This song came over the radio and he turned it up. He smiled and sang along to the song. I did the same because seeing him smile made my day. This song will always be close to my heart even when I'm nearing the end of my days. I turn it up when it comes on, we still catch it together some times. I have my license now so we don't ride together often, but I still light up when it comes on. My father just had a successful surgery to remove his colon cancer, I thank God every chance I get for that. But I know he's nearing his end. He's lived a full life, raised 4 kids, two with his current wife my mother. I'm sure he's plenty content having seen us grow up. If I get the chance I want to play this to all his friends and family after his funeral.
this was one of the last songs my dad had showed me before he started going in for his stage 4 cancer. It didn't mean much to me then but after all of it. I lost one of the most important people in my life to cancer. It is one of the worst things that could have happend to me to this day. I loved him dearly. I heard this song about a year later and just listened to it. The song is amazing. I love this song so much. Every time i miss him i listen to this. I feel like when i listen to it that hes watching over me. All i have to say is god bless the man who made me the person i am today.
I used to bartend..this old man used to come in every single day and play this on the jukebox 10 times in a row. One day he died suddenly and all of us bartenders (4 of us) recieved a letter with a 1000.00 check from his estate. It fit this song so much!
Same bro I got a story like so he’s still alive but I always tell him bless those who need it not me I’m living good. He’s a kind old man great stories and morals. He’s taught me morals, lessons, and kindness. But what a kind man you had known bless his soul!
My version is WAY better. I changed the last verse so that the fake, greedy, stupid narrator gets roofied and has his rectum turned inside out by the old man and doesn't get a penny for it. What a dumb song.
We, (my wife of 40 years) live in a very small town, and these two men that lived here helped any and everybody here in town. Never received the appreciation they earned in my opinion, I swore I would pick up where they left off. We were left very well off from the appreciation the two brothers left us. I quit my job, my wife left her profession, to help our community. Yes....God is GREAT! Thank you Karl and Pete!!!! And for their heirs.... listen, you could learn something,,,,, or maybe not.
I’m a Christian and I do love my beer as well. I don’t drink nearly as much as I use to but God is merciful and I pray to Him every night. I like this song.
I was very young when this came out, only 6, my grandfather and I loved this song, listening to it while at off-road parks flirting with women, out fishing on the lake, and even at bonfires, at 8 I started playing guitar, he bought my first one, and when he passed away when I was 15, a month before my birthday, I didn't cry, I played this song until I figured out how to play it on guitar, and I showed up to his funeral, and sang it, I still go out there to the family cemetery to take care of it, clean off the headstones, and I'll sit there next to his grave, I'll talk like he's still there, and then I'll get back to work, sometimes I go up and play guitar since it's in the middle of the woods, but this song was our song, I miss you old man, I'll see you again someday on two wheels together, once again, until then keep speeding down those streets of gold with that Harley of yours
I'm 20 right now. I have a feeling by the time I'm 60, 70, 80 years old, there are three things I'll know. God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.
I'm between their ages, but I'm living what the old man feels. You've lived a lonely life when you leave your worldly possessions to a stranger who made you forget your empty life for one night.
I see it differently. Sometimes, strangers become better “friends” than family members… or they have everything (monetarily) they could ever ask for. None of us are truly “entitled” to an inheritance. I’d rather see it go to someone who needs and appreciates it. Sometimes, you just meet people who “get you”, really care and understand you. Those are what I call my “soul” friends. Few and far between. After my neighbor died of cancer; he gave me his best stud colt. I didn’t earn it but we had a connection that can’t be explained. This song always makes me think of him.
your man is with the heavenly father, with all of your loved ones gone on,hold your head up and pray to god to see him again, and you will see him,god is great, this was my little brothers favorite song, hold on to your faith, the lord will be here soon, death has no sting
My story is an elderly friend who has been like a dad to my wife since she was a child and owns a 300 acre ranch needs help “occasionally.” I’m always there to visit/complete chores/just check in on him when passing by. He gave me his old truck! Totally unexpected generosity! Proof that what goes around, comes around! God Bless….
I came here to remember the time my dad would play this whenever we drove by an open field or a farm, I've been an atheist for a long time but given what has been happening with the world and what democrats have been doing to our nation and our kids I proudly except Jesus as my lord and savior
Jesus isn't fond of the hatred for others and egregious lies pushed by the party that put a conniving, grifting, dictator wannabe up for election. Please research outside of your bubble & look at the spin & lies. They're going to be (and already are) leading us down dangerous territory. WE the people need to be represented, NOT the billionaire class that only got where they are by stepping on others. Jesus DEFINITELY doesn't preach or condone ANY of that. Food for thought...I hope you have a very Merry Christmas. 🎄☃️☺️
It doesn't matter your race or your age. Music is music. If you feel it, ITS OKAY to love it. lol Idk why people put their ethnicity like they're not "supposed" to like this genre of music. Come on people, escape the shallow barriers.
No one ever said this to me but my motto is "It will only do you well to be kind to someone you meet, even if they are mean right to your face" No one counts up the times the won an argument on their deathbed. Be kind in life, you will not regret it. That's the truth.
This was one off my stepmother’s favorite songs. She passed away in 2019. She loved God and gave him praise for everything. Even praised him when she had a stroke. I miss her so much! She comforted me when my dad passed. Having her as a stepmother was better than a million dollars!
I'm sorry to hear that and you're right family is important doesn't matter if you don't talk to your parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles etc etc much you still love them even if it was a billion dollars you don't pick money over family
This song played at my grandmas funeral. I can’t listen to it without crying, I miss that woman every day. I’m getting a tattoo of ‘god is great, beer is good, people are crazy’. What a great song.
I’ve been having a ridiculously hard time figuring out how my last will play out. I got a very unlucky cancer and can feel it killing me daily. I’m tired of the nasty cancer parts so I guess I’ve already given up. It hurts so much to keep her goin
God bless you. Im praying you will beat this cancer but most important you will come to know Jesus as Lord and savior. He loved you and wants you to be with Him and wants you forever. Ask Him to save you and He will. He could heal you here now but if He doesnt He will heal you in heaven. I love you and will keep praying for youu
About 20 years ago I spent and evening into the wee hours of the morning talking to a WWII vet. He told me many stories of the war...at the end of it he said he never told anyone these stories before...he never made it to the next Nov 11 ceremony. We had a few beers that night and a few rum too...the guy at the bar said to lock the door on the way out....I am so glad I had that opportunity...all he went through for our freedom..So many thanks to him and all of those who went overseas...and so many who never came back. Talk to people you don't know...listen to them...the fortune they leave you may just be a wonderful memory...but you will never run out of it....I will never forget these few hours of my life...thank you...RIP my buddy in McBride BC.
I once had a conversation in the early morning hours with a one armed gentleman at a train station in Bremerhaven Germany in the late 80s. He didn't speak english and I didn't speak german but we both spoke late night/early morning alcohol at the train station that happened to be the only place still serving at that hour. He rolled perfect cigarettes one handed opening his tobacco pouch with his teeth as he was telling stories and handing me one and then rolling one for himself. Couldn't help but think my grandfather may have been resposible for his missing arm. Never forget that man.
No doubt about it, God is indeed great (for those who believe in her existence), beer is good and who will ever question that people are fricking crazier then 3 smashed cats. Peace
Emily Hooper Seriously, Emily, you are not suggesting that there is even the remote possibility that if there is a God that she is of the masculine persuasion. Ludicrous.
@maciverandy1 I pray you live long enough to regret what you have typed here and on that day I hope you can humble yourself enough to ask for forgiveness from Jesus because he loves you.... even now
@maciverandy1then remember this very conversation when one day you open your eyes in hell. Because I will not cast my pearls before swine any longer. I'm gone
This song could have been writen about Me...I was in My Mid 30's when I Met My Dad...Found him in a Pub in Mosmans NSW...I was the Only One of 4 Sons that Had any thing to do with Him...My Brothers were Pissed He left Every Thing to Me...He Died of Lung Cancer...Nicotine Addiction on His Death Cirtificate...Rest in Peace Old Man
Love this song. This was my Aunts favorite song, she passed away in July of 2015. This song will always remi d me over her. Love that woman and this song.
I'm a cashier at Walmart supercenter and I say being a cashier is like being a bartender , everybody needs somebody to talk to, everybody has a story ,,, so I listen.... And most people are very thankful that I take the time to really listen ❤ God is good 🙏🤍 and we're All Crazy !!!! Xoxo ❤️ Amen 🙏🤍
This song reminds me of my father, who I no longer see. It brings a tear to my eye everytime. He'd play this song, many songs, but he'd always relate... to THIS one... I love him. I'm afraid to love my papa, but I do. He chooses not to talk to me. But that doesnt make me give up my spirit for him. This song is my entire childhood... thank you❤
During my divorce I was constantly told what a deplorable human, man and father I was. As a father you try. You reach out. You send cards. After awhile you reach a point where you grieve and then you move on. You learn that if you dare let those kids back in your life you know it will just be more pain and suffering. If your dad isn't speaking to you, look at yourself and how you've treated him and how your mother has poisoned the well. Look deep. Look hard. He didn't walk away because he doesn't love you, he walked away because he does.
My dad went through a divorce last year with my ma and everyday he battles alcoholism. When they split I told him leave state take some time and live life and he went up to Montana back packed it and this week he knocks on my door. I turned 21 in the last few months so we went and grabbed a beer at the bar and this song come on and I told him “that’s fucking real huh” we used to listen to this before I even had a beer but “GOD IS GREAT BEER IS GOOD AND PEOPLE ARE CRAZY” I’m just glad my old man’s doing better.
This song popped into my head at the most random time today. My pops loved this song, & would blast it as we drove down the dirt roads on our reservation in his pickup truck, windows rolled down, & sang it at the top of his lungs. A memory of my childhood that I’ve always held so close to heart, because he was so happy. My pops passed away July 2nd, 2020. I sat next to his bed, holding his hand, talking to him, reminiscing, & I sang this song to him one last time. Thank you Billy.
i couldn't agree more now, i dont know about you but i win a billion dollars half goes to my church and the other goes to homeless if you think im lying...im not
After I got out of jail, my mom woke up in the early morning to drive me to work. When we passed by the property with goats I had my mom honk the horn and we both got a big laugh out of it! That's one of my fondest memories. This song always came on the radio around that time I was working at that ole gas station. This song holds a place in both my mother's heart and mine...
The reason why this song is so popular is because country music has always been about great songwriters and story songs about real American life with great music. Most of modern pop country has forgotten this and it's a damn shame. I wish more popular country songs were like this today.
Whoever is reading this, we don't know each other and probably never will, but I wish you all the best in life and all the happiness in the world. This song will stay in our hearts FOREVER! This song never gets old! I love it..
Once find out there all in love with someone else it’s waste of time. All crazy people news media say full take look nut president Joe Biden liar though years Biden families Business crimes on Son Hunter film movies. From the books
Getting a tattoo on the outside of my forearm that says "God is Great - Beer is Good - People are Crazy" .... these words will never go out of style and I live by them.
@@jays9086 Well pretty easier. Just put down... God is Great-Whiskey is Good-People are Crazy.... there ya go. Going to get the tattoo done tomorrow by the way... can't wait. My wife is gonna f*ckin flip out (lmfao)
Okay!!! Got the tattoo "God is Great - Beer is Good - People are Crazy" and I gotta tell ya my guy did a f*cking incredible job. Stefano Tattoo Salon of Ft Lauderdale... the best!!! It really does look awesome and better than expected... they are a step above any other Tattoo location!!!
I'm 56 and this is great...Love this. Nothing like sitting at the bar and just enjoying. Rock on Young Guns...You only get one life, no turning back, make the best of it.
I'm 58 years old, and I've done a lot of partying, and a lot of living, in my life...... so this song really struck a chord, but I didn't see the end coming, and now I've got watery eyes, that means you done a good job! great song! thank you for sharing!
Always loved this once I finally heard all the words. I would hear going to/from work. Crazy. Just be nice to nice to people. You never know what your new friend will share with you.
i am, unfortunately, this woman. i am broke, but my local liquor store friends have a designated section in my obituary. the only people who never judged me, still invited me to their open mics, prayed for me.
A friend of mine passed away yesterday morning, he tried to text me the night before but I was asleep and didnt see it until it was too late, i was a bartender and server and this was how we met. RIP my friend
Bet you were a lot more than a bartender & server to this man try like a confodont therapist And a life safer & police officer when you would stop the drinks or turn over your keys a true loving stranger is sometimes earth angels that God put in positions to be right where he needs them....you stranger are a very special soul ....God bless you & yours🙏👍💪✌️💯 true shoulder for Christ 💙
This song reminds me of Uncle Jack. He lost his best friend as he was walking onto his naval ship at Pearl Harbor when it was hit. He never spoke about the war, but he took life a lot less serious after he came home and enjoyed family and friends much more. He was warm, loving and laughed a lot.
This is the last song my beloved wife n. I.heard together before she passed away on June 6 we were married for 51 years I miss her every minute of every day.n Will til. I join her.
O God I'm 14 and I remember when my dad would always have this on the radio I miss those days I love going on car ride down back roads and listening to country music with my dad
Absolutely true, thank you for saying this. Next to conducting our affairs with integrity, loving life in all its expressions and simple kindness is deeply profound when practiced no matter what
Added to my comment.i liked the old days when things were simpler, people socialized, showed kindness.now everything is upside down 😞 God bless everybody.🙂❤️🙏🎶🎵
This song reminds me of my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battle with cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, life could be so unfair most times but sometimes I wonder why bad things always happen to good people. She’s always in our hearts
@@Majqq12 Let's all be nice and love on each other please. It's a beautiful song. There are many beautiful songs, how about we all embrace them and love on each other a bit. We could use that right now, yes? It's all good. We will get through this craziness.
Yes they are crazy and god definitely is good i definitely have god through my illness that i was in the hospital and hes still with me through my recovery
This song has such a great message. Just live and enjoy each day you never know what each day brings or who you will meet. Even if all seems hopeless just keep going
"He was a millionaire he He left his fortune to Some guy he barely knew His kids were mad as hell Huh, but me, I'm doing well..." Perfectly understated...
I have been trying to be the best I can be, sometimes I think it is a waste of time, but some people have appreciated what I try to do! You can't help everone, some will never change! I love the people in my life right now! God is great, beer is good! Sometimes I think we are a little bit crazy!
Had a pretty similar experience lately, not going to lie. Ole' boy wasn't a millionair-y, but he had some wisdom to impart that no one else was willing to listen to.
I've went from the gut talking with the old man to being the old man life's circle is almost complete but God is great, beer is good, and people are still crazy
For some reason, I'm lucky enough that everywhere I go out to eat here in Zephyrhills Florida, I always end up talking to an older lady or gentleman... Made a few friends, which some of them already passed away cause they were very old! Every time I hear this song, I remember every single one of those amazing little old people that aren't here anymore 🥰 God is Great, beer is good but people are insane now days!
This song....very fitting for the crazy ass world we live in right now. This song soothes me....and somehow restores my faith in humanity. Love it and will never tire of hearing it or seeing this video. Billy C. .....you are one gorgeous man!!!!
I was born into country music. I grew into rap at age of 8, and now I rarely play other music. ( I am 24 ) I have recently been playing old rock / country music and man, this brings me tears. My mother that passed when I was 8 loved this song. I am holding up a beer in toast at 7:08 am. May you Rest In Peace Mother. Billy Currington my friend you are among the legends like Dierks, Toby, and Alan. You my friend earn my respect.
This is my girlfriend's account but I can relate to my mother was murdered a little over a year ago and hey I drink a beer sometimes at 7:08 a.m. as well this was her favorite song God bless
Fuck math and fact checking. it is 6:08 AM (I'll call time zone for continuity), tho slightly different reasons brought me here, I'm cracking one for your ma. May she rest in peace.i
This song means more to me than anyone could ever know.....this song was on the radio back in September of 2017 as me and my dad were going for a nice long country drive. We had a falling out years before and we had just reconnected and forgave each other. The next day my father passed away and this was the last song we listened to and now everytime I play this I smile, cry a bit, and remember that memory. I miss my dad every day!!
Just listened to this about 50x, no joke. This song just hits my soul. It makes my heart feel so good. Brings me back to the old times of the 1970 & 1980s. The good ol days.

I used to bartend..this old man used to come in every single day and play this on the jukebox 10 times in a row. One day he died suddenly and all of us bartenders (4 of us) recieved a letter with a 1000.00 check from his estate. It fit this song so much!
What a nice dude

One of His first miracles was turning water into wine. Just don't drink to excess.

He would be proud of ya bud, don't forget that

I'm 20 right now. I have a feeling by the time I'm 60, 70, 80 years old, there are three things I'll know. God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.
Please the chances of someone from your generation living to 80 is a small chance thanks to preservatives and fast food.💀
You'll know a lot more than those three things when you're 60.
Actually no I'm I was born in 1967 my username is just made random.
B15 Wright but your still living in our generation buddy get over yourself it’s not 1965 anymore no ones dying over a fucking cough anymore
Yup

Well said mine is dont marry find a woman you hate and buy her a house 👍
Man’s got a point

Don’t let fear stop you. Love him twice as much for the both of you. One of you has to be reasonable.

God I wasn’t even listening to this song and I was sobbing because I had the line “God is Great, Beer is Good, and People are Crazy” stuck in my head
This song will never get old. Imagine 30 years from now someone discovering this gem and singing it at the top of their lungs in a flying car.
I was on my scrolling mode when I saw your comment and was moved to send a text, hope you are having a good day?
Or taking a vacation to Mars. Venus Jupiter.😉 Great song.

Toxic Gaming me, this song will never grow old
I have been trying to be the best I can be, sometimes I think it is a waste of time, but some people have appreciated what I try to do! You can't help everone, some will never change! I love the people in my life right now! God is great, beer is good! Sometimes I think we are a little bit crazy!
I'll LOVE it even in my grave
Me
Luv this song
Had a pretty similar experience lately, not going to lie. Ole' boy wasn't a millionair-y, but he had some wisdom to impart that no one else was willing to listen to.
I've went from the gut talking with the old man to being the old man life's circle is almost complete but God is great, beer is good, and people are still crazy
For some reason, I'm lucky enough that everywhere I go out to eat here in Zephyrhills Florida, I always end up talking to an older lady or gentleman... Made a few friends, which some of them already passed away cause they were very old!
Every time I hear this song, I remember every single one of those amazing little old people that aren't here anymore 🥰
God is Great, beer is good but people are insane now days!

Like an Angel.
right on!!
Fuck math and fact checking. it is 6:08 AM (I'll call time zone for continuity), tho slightly different reasons brought me here, I'm cracking one for your ma. May she rest in peace.i
@EriX,
"... my respect."
I also have a lot for the songwriters, Bobby Braddock and Troy Jones for creating this song for Billy Currington to sing.
Who still listens in 2019 and still in 2022
Ill get back to you in 11 days then ill let u know
Ok talk then
