Underlab I have a theory idea that I was hoping you could help me develop. My problem? I have no money to be a patron :-| --------------- In any case great video; although this has been suggested before, you developed the idea really well.
I think Asriel was capable of absorbing monster souls without destroying them. its said that neve happened before but if he is the god of delta rune I dont think it would be strange for him to have that ability. I dont think he would stop time to not destroy others, he didnt care (he'd reset anyways). Flowey...cough...cough.. Asriel is very special case. Also you didnt take into consideration Sans' powers as judge. Ability like teleporting and stoping time would come in handy if he needs to collect evidence and observe. Also his eye has something to do patience. They could be able to do same tricks with different methods. Flowey is also able to teleport (when he goes into earth and comes out from nowhere).
Frist of all my favorite thing is that he's as carefree as can be..............Until, Genocide then well let's just say it was nice knowing you. Also i'm suprised sans didn't do anything like fresse time and you back at the beginning like any other time you talked about gaster.
Sans can teleport, use shortcuts, and get rid of invincibility frames. Papyrus can seemingly defy physics and manipulate his own stats. Perhaps they each have access to parts of the code of the world.
After all, papyrus knows that you have to press up to jump and sans knows about turns. Having access to the code might mean that they know certain game mechanics. Plus they have the creator of the game in their house bugging them.

I don’t think sans can stop time for a very long time, I think he can do it, but just for a few seconds, he can do it repeatedly, but it requires a lot of effort, and you know how Sans is.
When you prove to sans that your a time traveler, he gives you a key to his room, and when you go in, you're on a treadmill. Then Papyrus walks him and asks frisk "IS SANS PRANKING YOU ACROSS TIME AND SPACE? I HATE IT WHEN HE DOES THAT!"
I think the reason sans sleeps all the time is not because he’s lazy(even though he is) maybe it’s because he’s saving energy! It makes sense because during the genocide fight he dodges over 20 attack from the human so idk I’m just theorizing

@@mthd5673 that doesn't really work though. In a neutral run where you kill papyrus and don't kill everyone Sans threatens you, but doesn't really fight you when you go to the judgement hall. Plus he only fights you when you do the genocide run meaning he probably fights you for a different reason. My theory is that he knows he can't kill you and only delay you. If you kill everyone than Sans can use karma ritrubution with great potential on you and delay you in hopes that you would quit the genocide route.
I'd also like to know what that not even the player can pause the game at any point. Opening up the "pause" menu still keeps everything running at normal speed. So it could be that Sans has the ability to pause the game.
If sans can stop time, remember right at the beginning of his fight you hear that "sound" and it is right before he says should be burning in hell then he attacks with a strong attack so maybe he try's to freeze time and finish us off fast.
Yeah, he probably tries for 3 subjective months or something stuff like poison, neck snaps, trying to toss you in lava, dash you on spikes etc. but DT prevents all of it.

maybe eye glow is the SOUL actually bursting into magical fire and it's to the left in his skull so that's where you see it, the burn being like adrenaline ripping muscles.

It should also be noted that the player technically COULD freeze time--depending on how you interpret "pausing" the game by opening the menu. Heck, maybe Pausing is another in-universe power that we just never have explained.
Well, i actually found another sans' secret power. If you remember from when we meet sans and papyrus, there is a lamp there when papyrus the lamp's shape looks like us so, i think that sans' second secret power is he could change the shape of a object. Like if you agree with my theory
no, it's sillyer than that, he had a normal lamp just in case and he stopped time, grabbed the lamp, went to his work shop, changed the shape to match Frisk then bring it back to the same place.
Zachariah Beckles maybe sans also believes in you. Maybe he waits to see what happens, even though you killed his brother, he did what papyrus would do. Wait, see what happens. Even though papyrus wouldn't attack you. But, as you probably know, sans can't afford not to care anymore.
I have always thought the time jumps in Sans' fight was just to represent the fight going on much longer than what the player experiences. After his first attack which he implies is his strongest, I felt Sans was just trying to draw out the fight as long as possible and when he can't fight anymore he holds on to his turn so you'll never get the chance to win. He knows he can't beat you and he knows whats going to happen, or at least has some idea of it and instead tries to get the player to give up out of either frustration or boredom. But having an hour long fight where you have to restart from the start if you die isn't exactly my idea of engaging game play. I think it was design decision to make still make the fight hard, but not necessarily unfair.
I always thought that Asriel froze time in the final battle, but his true final form is the only time his power was strong enough to partially freeze Frisk and at that moment, it's when Frisk had a spiritual moment while in frozen time to save everyone.
That actually might be true - watching Sans fight again and each time you hear the sound it just gets faster and faster - as in the pauses get shorter and shorter - though it could just mean he's attacking faster in paused time but it could also mean your determination is getting stronger to overpower stopped time.

Papyrus has knowledge of his bro pranking him from across space and time but I don't think he shares this power with Sans. Sans has both space and time. His shortcuts being space manipulation. I believe the combination of those powers is how he's able to manipulate gravity which is warped space/time according to general relativity.

Hey, but he does get a bit 'sweaty' during the genocide fight. Perhaps he has such a small amount that it only triggers when he uses his powers, hence why we never fight him in any other route. 'i can't afford not to care anymore' Well, I don't know, I'm just guessing.
Theory: What fuels Sans' power to freeze time could be the love he has with Papyrus. Once Papyrus was killed, he became depressed, removing his time freezing power. The mere memory of Papyrus and the will to avenge him is what helps him freeze time throughout some parts in the boss battle.
Yes, that's why his freezing is so weak compared to what he did in other runs, he can no longer move you in frozen time or put things in your inventory and stuff which is why he doesn't just drop you in lava, put a bunch of active explosives in your inventory, poison all your food or something, he needs Papyrus to help do a full freeze, maybe even due to CORE stuff and Gaster.

As we saw from the true lab, Flowey was probably one of Alphys' subjects. We also saw that behind Sans' house is a room with a machine in it. Both Sans and Flowey have a scientific background.
I agree with most of this video, except that there is NO hope that Sans survive the Genoese. While he may have survived the 999999 damage blow by freezing time and imitating the death sound, we delete everything at the end of the route. That includes Sans.
Unless he has a way of going into another timeline. Also it seems like his secret lab is RESET proof. If you go their after reseting you still see the picture of everyone together on the surface. What if it is also erase proof?
ClonedGamer001 Sadly, he most likely dies. Even if he could imitate the death sound, your LV goes up after it. Your LV can only go up if you have enough EXP, which you get from killing things.
PROBLEM WITH ZE THEORY this does not explain alot i am gonna start of with the obvious karmic retrubution not much needed to be said there, now the other thing it does not explain is well his final attack during his final attack he can be seen rapidly appearing through the screen now this can be explained through him rapidly stoping and starting time constently but other then this making him look cool all it does is exhaust him further so i don't think he would do such a thing on such an important fight further more there is no click sound so it really can't be that so perhaps he does have teleportation because it explains it better. Ik this was 2 years ago but when time freezes when flowey takes the souls,it's most likely sans who did that, since flowey has no reason to freeze time.Sans does not control time,he controls space so he does teleport but you could fold space to control time,but it's risky,you could make a black hole,that's why he doesn't try that on you during the fight
You forgot about Sans ''Special Attack". It's is nothing.. Sans just freeze the time, so we couldn't kill him if not our Determination to break some rules.
Sorry but why would Sans WANT to walk in the other direction, freeze time, and walk ALL THE WAY BACK FOR NO REASON? I feel like that'd be very taxing for someone with such low stamina, especially since he takes shortcuts so often😑

You failed to bring up Sans's lab, which literally requires time-travel to get into, or the machine in there which is VERY likely to be the source of all of Sans's powers and/or the last remaining proof of Gaster's former existence.
I just thought that Sans could access the files of the game, and 'hack' his way to locations. The reason for him remembering the other timelines might be a consequence of these capabilities or something he chose to do. I only think, however that he is only able to access location data and look into save files, not be able to mess around with his stats or the players or anyone else.
In the ending where you kill everyone EXCEPT me, when you get a phone call in the last cutscene, I explain that the only reason I got tired in the fight was because after the fight I used my remaining power to travel back in time and save everyone while I was keeping Chara busy with the fight. If I didn't go back in time and drain a heck of a lot of the past me's energy, that fight would literally never end. Just telling everyone that I am MUCH more powerful than you think...

every time you flip a switch it's actually broken so Sans stops time, goes over, does what the leaver is meant to do, has a hot dog, naps, wakes up, has another dog, walks off and unfreezes, all because it was 1 of his many jobs to fix the leavers but he was too lazy to do that.

It's a cool theory but if determination gives powers over time and space, then why is Undyne the Undying isn't shown using any of those powers during our battle on the genocide? She just melts. How come if Sans does have determination, how is he, (or flowey too while we're at it) aren't melting from it?

this is overal a great theory but i have a few nitpicks. i know that the creator of this account has left but incase any fans would like to know... 4:06 time has 'stopped' here but everyone's expressions change and there is obvious movement going on. 3:00 according to the ancient texts in waterfall, "When a monster dies, it's SOUL disappears. And an incredible power would be needed to take the SOUL of a living monster". In this case, Flowey had already absorbed the six human SOULs, which gives him power that is almost god-like. this is by far an 'incredible power'. Asriel, at the end of his fight, shows that the 'godlike' powers that he has gives him the ability to stay in his form, even with only six human SOULs, so he would be able to return them to the monsters because he still has the 'incredible power'. (the human SOULs cannot be returned, because they were taken from a dead human, rather than a living one. however, he will turn back into flowey without the power of a monster SOUL, because human SOULs don't have love, hope or compassion which is needed for a the person to be defined as a monster. which lets him take the form of asriel - rather than flowey.)
So it’s the same type of stand as Star Platinum.. But seriously, it seems like he does, in fact, have the same gig, but the genocide being more accurate since Sans had no time to waste while he had stopped time. Neutral/True Pacifist: Part 3 Star Plat./The World = 5 seconds/9seconds (I know Sans could probably pause time for an infinite amount, depending on if there’s actually a dialogue continue button or not, like space or something.) Genocide: Part 4 Star Plat. = half a second/5 seconds.
There is another reason. See that KR next to your HP during Sans's battle? That's KARMA. Sans is using KARMA as well to make the battle with him more challenging. Which explains why when you take damage when your fighting Sans has a purple thing of where the HP used to be. EDIT 1: I tried to make this with as much good Grammar as possible.
But she can't do such miraculous things as Sans; She may have the smallest bit, but it's only given to the special who were BORN with determination I'm pretty sure
@@thatchristian781 UNDYNE WAS BORN WITH DETERMINATION! I hate the idea that Alphys injected her. I think Alphys wouldn’t inject Undyne with Determination until she knew for a fact it was safe, and she certainly wouldn’t do it AFTER the Amalgamates happened, because Alphys has a massive crush on Undyne, and wouldn’t risk having her melt. Besides, if Sans had determination, how did he die that easily? Determination includes the will to REFUSE DEATH! Undyne refused death, and even if he SOMEHOW has more determination than Undyne, but somehow can’t refuse death like Undyne can, why doesn’t he melt? Even Undyne melts, and it’s proven that determination melts monsters. So why doesn’t Sans melt? I’d accept he has a LITTLE determination in Genocide, which is why he sweats, and how even after taking almost 10 million damage, has the strength to get up and leave before dying, but not NEARLY enough to match or even surpass Undyne. I just think Sans’ blood stuff is ketchup, and even if he has determination, it’s very little, and his powers just stem from magic and weird Gaster stuff.
@@titanictnt7476 Well, let me explain, so Undyne's determination is only brought out during Chara's attack, as she is called, quote on quote, "Undyne the Undying" and Sans didn't reject death because he knew that living alone wouldn't do anything, all he wanted to do we help save the earth, even though he knew he couldn't he'd like to delay it. I personally think Sans doesn't use his power since he likes to watch things go by, when he's grabbed by Flowey he doesn't struggle or teleport away, he knows what's due to happen next.

Even when she’s not Undying, her whole personality is that she’s the, and I quote, “Heroine who NEVER gives up!” Her flared up determination in Genocide just allowed her to transform. Even in the neutral route she refuses death. So Undyne is determined in her base form.
Here is three ways to free every monster from the underground 1. Jet pack as you can see in the mettaton Minigame 2. Ladder frisk can bring a ladder before going down Mount ebbot 3. Teleportation/ shortcuts 4. Use human all the human souls
Determination can’t be the answer because he says that he gave up a long time ago in the genocide fight which says that he doesn’t have determination. That is also why he can’t save or load. He doesn’t have determination like flowey or frisk. Also it would be weird if he was to be pausing time to move around with everyone thinking he can teleport. He is Lazy. And I don’t think he always try’s to be cool. And him doing that would make him seem like he wants to try and be cool. And it would be wasting time to be pausing time, moving, and then unpausing it. It would be easier not to pause time.
Instead of "freezing time" he probably made the time go a lot faster for himself, so it's more like he moves in the speed of light and it looks like he teleported to us or made it look like everyone else froze in the grillby scene but actually, we were so fast, everyone else looked like they stopped moving. That would explain why he is always tired too. Example, when he teleported, he actually moved so fast we didn't even see him move but he actually walked all the way, so, in the one hour we see, he might have do hours of work, and get tired. But then again, that would stop him from teleporting to places he can't actually go in like a locked room or something... did he teleported somewhere he couldn't actually go in the game? Though if we went in, he could go in with us so we wouldn't be able to see somewhere he couldn't go... could he have used some kind of worm hole or something similar? God dammit, I need to study more...
the way i view monsters are that they are a projection or weak shell of their soul, and if the projection is sufficiently damaged, or the soul its self, the soul shatters. I think asriel having all the souls gave him the ability to dematerialise the monsters projection/shell without damaging the monster, keeping the souls intact AND absorbing them

@@mthd5673 that doesn't really work though. In a neutral run where you kill papyrus and don't kill everyone Sans threatens you, but doesn't really fight you when you go to the judgement hall. Plus he only fights you when you do the genocide run meaning he probably fights you for a different reason. My theory is that he knows he can't kill you and only delay you. If you kill everyone than Sans can use karma ritrubution with great potential on you and delay you in hopes that you would quit the genocide route.

I have always thought the time jumps in Sans' fight was just to represent the fight going on much longer than what the player experiences.
After his first attack which he implies is his strongest, I felt Sans was just trying to draw out the fight as long as possible and when he can't fight anymore he holds on to his turn so you'll never get the chance to win. He knows he can't beat you and he knows whats going to happen, or at least has some idea of it and instead tries to get the player to give up out of either frustration or boredom.
But having an hour long fight where you have to restart from the start if you die isn't exactly my idea of engaging game play. I think it was design decision to make still make the fight hard, but not necessarily unfair.
I always thought that Asriel froze time in the final battle, but his true final form is the only time his power was strong enough to partially freeze Frisk and at that moment, it's when Frisk had a spiritual moment while in frozen time to save everyone.

That actually might be true - watching Sans fight again and each time you hear the sound it just gets faster and faster - as in the pauses get shorter and shorter - though it could just mean he's attacking faster in paused time but it could also mean your determination is getting stronger to overpower stopped time.

Theory: What fuels Sans' power to freeze time could be the love he has with Papyrus. Once Papyrus was killed, he became depressed, removing his time freezing power. The mere memory of Papyrus and the will to avenge him is what helps him freeze time throughout some parts in the boss battle.
Yes, that's why his freezing is so weak compared to what he did in other runs, he can no longer move you in frozen time or put things in your inventory and stuff which is why he doesn't just drop you in lava, put a bunch of active explosives in your inventory, poison all your food or something, he needs Papyrus to help do a full freeze, maybe even due to CORE stuff and Gaster.

I agree with most of this video, except that there is NO hope that Sans survive the Genoese. While he may have survived the 999999 damage blow by freezing time and imitating the death sound, we delete everything at the end of the route. That includes Sans.
Unless he has a way of going into another timeline. Also it seems like his secret lab is RESET proof. If you go their after reseting you still see the picture of everyone together on the surface. What if it is also erase proof?

Ik this was 2 years ago but when time freezes when flowey takes the souls,it's most likely sans who did that, since flowey has no reason to freeze time.Sans does not control time,he controls space so he does teleport but you could fold space to control time,but it's risky,you could make a black hole,that's why he doesn't try that on you during the fight

I just thought that Sans could access the files of the game, and 'hack' his way to locations. The reason for him remembering the other timelines might be a consequence of these capabilities or something he chose to do. I only think, however that he is only able to access location data and look into save files, not be able to mess around with his stats or the players or anyone else.
In the ending where you kill everyone EXCEPT me, when you get a phone call in the last cutscene, I explain that the only reason I got tired in the fight was because after the fight I used my remaining power to travel back in time and save everyone while I was keeping Chara busy with the fight. If I didn't go back in time and drain a heck of a lot of the past me's energy, that fight would literally never end. Just telling everyone that I am MUCH more powerful than you think...

every time you flip a switch it's actually broken so Sans stops time, goes over, does what the leaver is meant to do, has a hot dog, naps, wakes up, has another dog, walks off and unfreezes, all because it was 1 of his many jobs to fix the leavers but he was too lazy to do that.

3:00 according to the ancient texts in waterfall, "When a monster dies, it's SOUL disappears. And an incredible power would be needed to take the SOUL of a living monster". In this case, Flowey had already absorbed the six human SOULs, which gives him power that is almost god-like. this is by far an 'incredible power'. Asriel, at the end of his fight, shows that the 'godlike' powers that he has gives him the ability to stay in his form, even with only six human SOULs, so he would be able to return them to the monsters because he still has the 'incredible power'. (the human SOULs cannot be returned, because they were taken from a dead human, rather than a living one. however, he will turn back into flowey without the power of a monster SOUL, because human SOULs don't have love, hope or compassion which is needed for a the person to be defined as a monster. which lets him take the form of asriel - rather than flowey.)

See that KR next to your HP during Sans's battle? That's KARMA. Sans is using KARMA as well to make the battle with him more challenging. Which explains why when you take damage when your fighting Sans has a purple thing of where the HP used to be.

I think Alphys wouldn’t inject Undyne with Determination until she knew for a fact it was safe, and she certainly wouldn’t do it AFTER the Amalgamates happened, because Alphys has a massive crush on Undyne, and wouldn’t risk having her melt. Besides, if Sans had determination, how did he die that easily? Determination includes the will to REFUSE DEATH! Undyne refused death, and even if he SOMEHOW has more determination than Undyne, but somehow can’t refuse death like Undyne can, why doesn’t he melt? Even Undyne melts, and it’s proven that determination melts monsters. So why doesn’t Sans melt? I’d accept he has a LITTLE determination in Genocide, which is why he sweats, and how even after taking almost 10 million damage, has the strength to get up and leave before dying, but not NEARLY enough to match or even surpass Undyne. I just think Sans’ blood stuff is ketchup, and even if he has determination, it’s very little, and his powers just stem from magic and weird Gaster stuff.

Determination can’t be the answer because he says that he gave up a long time ago in the genocide fight which says that he doesn’t have determination. That is also why he can’t save or load. He doesn’t have determination like flowey or frisk. Also it would be weird if he was to be pausing time to move around with everyone thinking he can teleport. He is Lazy. And I don’t think he always try’s to be cool. And him doing that would make him seem like he wants to try and be cool. And it would be wasting time to be pausing time, moving, and then unpausing it. It would be easier not to pause time.
Instead of "freezing time" he probably made the time go a lot faster for himself, so it's more like he moves in the speed of light and it looks like he teleported to us or made it look like everyone else froze in the grillby scene but actually, we were so fast, everyone else looked like they stopped moving.
That would explain why he is always tired too. Example, when he teleported, he actually moved so fast we didn't even see him move but he actually walked all the way, so, in the one hour we see, he might have do hours of work, and get tired. But then again, that would stop him from teleporting to places he can't actually go in like a locked room or something... did he teleported somewhere he couldn't actually go in the game? Though if we went in, he could go in with us so we wouldn't be able to see somewhere he couldn't go... could he have used some kind of worm hole or something similar? God dammit, I need to study more...
Papyrus probably has some idea of Sans abilities. "Pranking across time and space" and all that. Maybe not the full extent, but a little to be sure.

Unfortunately. Red is the color of Determination. San’s colors are Blue and a bit of Yellow. Blue is Patience and yellow is Justice.

the way i view monsters are that they are a projection or weak shell of their soul, and if the projection is sufficiently damaged, or the soul its self, the soul shatters. I think asriel having all the souls gave him the ability to dematerialise the monsters projection/shell without damaging the monster, keeping the souls intact AND absorbing them
