@Depressed Devan Key chara seems only to exist to ensure there are consequences to your actions, and knowing they can't sever you connection to the world, they erase it, so that you can't use the monsters as toys. And when you get the world back, chara makes sure you can never get a good ending afterwards. They may only slightly be worse than sans. Chara didn't force the player to do anything. And when they harmed everyone. Made sure they couldn't escape the consequences.
Tbh the first time I played undertale I didn't like him because he was pretty narcissistic, now I realize it's Sans fault but it doesn't change the fact that he's still a narcissist
Toriel shouldn't be higher than papyrus the only thing papyrus does is fight you and he doesn't kill you in the fight just "captures" you toriel fights and kills you just because you want to go home

Toriel doesn't think the "claim one soul, go to the surface for more" plan is a good idea, she just uses it to prove that Asgore doesn't truly believe in his own cause.

Toriel just wanted you to be safe from asgore. Papyrus just wanted to impress undyne Undyne saw you as a threat and tried to eliminate you Mettaton only wanted to serve for entertainment Asgore only wanted your soul in order to destroy the barrier Flowey was incapable of feeling...feelings. Undyne the Undying knows that you will destroy the underground, and tried to fight you with all her might. Mettaton NEO knew he had no chance against you, and only tries to delay the destruction, hoping that the monsters could evacuate. Sans knew you won't just destroy the underground, but the entire dimension, so he exploited all the rules of an RPG, and wanted to make you feel the pain of the other monsters, by exploiting the game mechanics and killing you over and over, hoping that you will rage-quit. Chara only wanted to teach you a lesson for following the path of genocide. and you... You just wanted to complete the game.
OK. I'm on Sans fight. It's hard but... I'm like the calmest freakin' person ever when it comes to gaming. I've actually never raged before. What's it like? Is it like losing your temper? Cause I have a very short one. I've never quit a game out of anger or anything, heck, I've only been triggered once. (That was my lil sis' fault.)
So it's fine to throw fireballs at a little kid? Also I didn't see her following Frisk making sure the kid was safe......also didn't we already deal with monsters in the Ruins? We know how dangerous it would be not only that BUT SHE LEFT IS in the Ruins with a bunch of monsters that could attack us and kill us. Tori is a terrible mom and very irresponsible. She also picked Sans to watch.......yeah....he's terrible at his job and threatened Frisk. Look you don't threaten little kids even as a joke and Tori if she was smart would keep Frisk FAR away from him. He'd make the worst dad and uncle period. Pap.....at least he didn't kill us and once you make friends with him he's the least evil out of all of them.
Also before you say Tori purposely missed Frisk with the fireballs.....you can still die by accident by Tori's hands. You should never freaking fight your kids.

If intent doesn't excuse actions technically alphys is more evil than asgore, seeing as they condemned many more monsters than humans asgore killed to a life of pain. Granted, they do get freed but nothing good comes of the experiments, while asgore's killing of humans is what saved the monsters.
SOMEONE ELSE: actually, i think it would make more sense if papyrus had a 1. yes, he DOES attack you, but in truth, all he REALLY wants is to be everyones friend. in the pacifist or neutral(if you spare him) route, he will actually LIE to undyne because he does not want her to kill you. undyne is NOT the kind of monster to forgive that when it comes to a HUMAN at that point in undertale, so if she actually FOUND OUT, papyrus would LOSE a friend, and undyne would PROBABLY stop training him. we all know that papyrus would HATE to lose a friend, so the fact that he did that is actually really nice. in the genocide route, he is the ONLY character who actually still believes you can be a good person, NO OTHER CHARACTER believes in you. so it would make sense to give him a 1.
Ahahahahah Jerry is terrible lol I don't agree on your rating on Muffet, though. She does clearly state that the reason she attacks you is because she was told you are very hateful towards spiders and that she was promised a good sum of money which she wants to use to rescue the spiders in the ruins. She is basically doing this to save her own kind.
The game engine but even the spiders in the ruins make food out of spiders, even though they have no contact with Muffet... Dunno, it's kinda weird. Then again, everything about this game is weird.

Even though we aren’t really a character, the player is still the most evil person in Undertale. We (most people) RESET so many times and kill them all without much remorse (at least for me). We controlled Frisk, probably without them wanting us to, and used them to kill everyone over and over, and then once we got a “happy ending” we RESET and took it all away. Even Flowey didn’t want to RESET that. We truly are the most evil one in Undertale.
This is what I don’t get. Why is it that we constantly shit on the player for “cOnTrOlLiNg” Frisk on the genocide route but insist Frisk is responsible for the pacifist route? Pick a side and stick with it.

I definitely would not call Papyrus narcissistic or have narcissistic tendencies. I would call him vain or conceited, but he does show care for others, which is not something a narcissist can do. Mettaton, on the other hand, does fall under the category of narcissist, because he doesn't really care about anyone so much. He just wants to be famous, and will abandon anyone to get what he wants.
You haven't completed genocide run, do you? Mettaton clearly says that he has people that he wants to protect and does not want fame only and in neutral when you finish the mettaton boss the monsters say that mettaton is the only one that can actually make the underground "fun", so mettaton doesn't only wants fame

Personally I think that Papyrus is the nicer than Toriel. And with the throwing bones in your face situation, Toriel throws fireballs at you. You might say "Oh she was doing that to protect you" well she shows no remorse when you get hit (neither does any character) also Papyrus doesnt want to kill you, he wants to capture you. Toriel wants you to stay with her. And if she wanted to keep you safe she could have gone with you into the underground. Also, Papyrus just needs to practise making spaghetti more. Also Toriel seems to replace each child with another every time a new human child ends up in the underground.
Papyrus is an adult who told a child to eat mushrooms, then he led that child through deadly, unfair traps he created that would have made Jigsaw proud, beat the child in order to become a guard (not because Alphys told him to like everyone else), and spent the rest of the game being an unhelpful sarcastic tool. And don't give me that "Papyrus doesn't know any better" bullshit. He reads complex books, is an expert at controlling his magic (even more so than Toriel), and has an extensive vocabulary that a scientist would use (uses words like "infallible" and "esteemed"). Replay the game and listen to his phone calls CAREFULLY.

I'm 26 and I still don't have a job, so we can't just assume he's eighteen, all we know for sure is that he's younger than Sans. He also doesn't have a job as of yet, he's still training to get one as a royal guard. And even if he IS trying to be legitimately helpful, that doesn't imply that Frisk isn't asking for help...it's actually the opposite, especially since the "info" Papyrus gives usually revolves around the room Frisk is in. Not that any of the smartass calls I listed so much as hint that he's being anything other than a smartass, but you get the idea.
It's really not about what's your viewpoint. It's more about morality and what actions are and aren't justified. If you're a bank robber, of course robbing banks might seem good to you, but is it justified?
To be honest, I would've taken a point or two off of Asgore's score and had him at about *5*. He's not really what I'd call a bad person-- more a good person who was forced into doing the things he did in moments of weakness (IE. rage and cowardice), and you can definitely tell that he really, _really_ does not want to go through with it and immensely regrets what he's doing, but feels he has to for the sake of his people. Plus, considering the equipment of the other fallen humans was found at various different points across the Underground instead of just at New Home like their SOULs were, it's not even certain whether Asgore did kill them himself. Likewise, I don't really see what was stopping Toriel from enacting her _"kill one human, cross barrier, kill six random humans on other side, then break barrier"_ plan herself if she was that adamant that Asgore was a terrible person because he wouldn't do it. You could justify that with her Pacifism, but the way I see it, it just makes her a bit of a hypocrite-- particularly with her acting as if she was the only one affected by the deaths of both their own children and the six other humans that fell down, and selfishly abandoning her people when they needed her the most. I'd have given her a 3 or 4.
+Generic Username I dont think so. Undyne never knew humans could be nice, and she obviously cared for Frisk once they became friends in the pacifist run. And Undyne clearly is a 1 in the genocide run. She fights you, even tho she knows that youll defeat her at some point. But she doesnt give up, and even comes back from the dead to stop you. She sacrifices herself in order to slow you down so Alphys can evacuate the Underground. I cant think of anything more heroic. She's a bit harsh, but clearly a good person.
+RobotwarsKing I agree. Most people dont seem to realize that Asgore didnt _want_ to do the things he did - he _had_ to. But I dont think Toriel should be a 4. I agree, it does kind of make her a hypocrite, but, just like Asgore, she was forced in this situation. She recently lost both of her children and now her (usually soft) husband starts killing other children. She was confused, and ran away. Both of them are great persons that were forced in a situation they both didnt want. I just feel sorry for both of them. Nobody deserves to lose their children in such a terrible way. Perhaps, and you do raise some valid points. The thing is though, the reason I gave Toriel a score as high as that is mostly down to not only her being a hypocrite (especially with the whole _"If Asgore is so terrible for not using one soul to cross over the Barrier, kill six random humans and use those to break the Barrier, why doesn't she do it herself"_ thing), but also down to her not nearly being as good as people say she is when you actually look a bit deeper into certain things. I mean, sure, she's nice enough, but not exactly the paragon of virtue everyone says she is- especially when you consider she acted the whole time like Asgore was gleefully slaughtering children (when a, it's not even certain if he did kill them himself, and b, he's evidently heartbroken by it regardless) that again, she was the only one who was suffering as a result of their deaths, and as someone else mentioned, how eerily OK she is in most of the endings where she lives (except True Pacifist, where she has more time to think about it) with her ex-husband being murdered by either Frisk or Flowey. Likewise, Toriel wasn't confused when she abdicated from the throne, she knew full well what she was doing and abandoned her people when they needed her the most on the basis of her own beliefs. And it doesn't change the fact that she could've easily acted out her own plan to break the Barrier more quickly, but she didn't, and basically left to hide in the Ruins, wallow in her own self-pity and to avoid having to take firm-but-unpleasant action that would ultimately benefit the kingdom in the long run. Basically, the exact same thing she's accusing Asgore of, so he's really not the only one to blame for it, as she tries to make out. That, and the fact she tried to hold the children who fell down in the Ruins in there forever regardless of their will, even going as far as considering destroying the exit to stop Frisk leaving after the other six left and died before they directly intervened. It's not as bad as say, declaring war on humanity (Asgore) or trying to rip someone's soul out of their still-living body (Undyne), but it's still essentially kidnapping. But yeah, don't think me saying all this means I don't like Toriel. She's a very good character, but one thing that does annoy me is when she's held up on a pedestal as this perfect, saintly individual whilst Asgore is seen as this brutal ghoul who gleefully murders children despite him not actually being that bad at all.

Actually, you could still be a jerk on a pacifist route, so possibly 1-6 (maybe 7) based on scale. His scale wasn't really well-thought out as "little bit of a jerk" scores 6 and Undyne who is rude to you (unless you befriend her eventually), tries to kill a child completely unprovoked on pacifist route even if for "greater good" and Asgore who is far nicer than Undyne and was conflicted about killing the same gets score 7. Granted he might have killed more than Undyne, , we don't know. In addition he also gave an order to kill 7 humans but Undyne was very eager to do so. So Undyne actions go well beyond "little bit of a jerk".
@@giga9001 Undyne in genocide is still the same Undyne in normal and pacifist run. It's just that Undyne finds herself going against a villain, that doesn't make her character better but just appears to be better by contrasting it with a person she goes against.
I'd say Asgore is a 5 like Undyne. It's a fact that in a fit of rage that Asgore declared war on Humanity and planned the gathering of the seven human souls to destroy humanity, but that rage lasted a few days at most. At that point he didn't want that kind of revenge anymore, but as king it was now the duty to his people. Asgore never hurt anyone personally, (until he attacks Frisk at the end of neutral/pacifist). It was the royal guard who captured humans/killed them and took their souls to Asgore. Let's not forget that it's Chara, the first fallen Human who literally shaped the way for EVERYTHING bad that happened, hadn't he/she committed suicide and almost forcing Asriel to commit genocide on the humans. (after Charas soul was absorbed by Asriel it tried to make Asriel kill the humans) leading to both of their deaths at the same day NOTHING bad would have started in the Undertale universe. Asgore: 5 (he still stayed committed to the goal and attacks/kills Frisk) Chara: 10 (Culmination of evil) Flowey: 8 (victim of circumstances, but still an evil prick)

I think Papyrus should have been 2 instead of 3 because of how innocent he his (even while dying from your hand in genocide he STILL believes you can be a good person) but aside from that little nitpick I think the list is perfect.
I'd give Napstablook a 2, actually. He's so polite, and when you encounter him, you attack first. You move him with the force. Although raining acid on children is pretty... uhh... weird.
MMmm... Chara should not be 10. I’d say maybe 3 or 4. After the genocide route, she said “with your guidance.” It was the evil player who showed her that killing was okay, and decided to help.
i disagree that chara is 10 because she/he killes you at the end of genacide so he/she stoped you from somehow going back to the suface and killing all humans there to she/he aslo stops you from absorbing the other six human souls (probably how frisk would have escaped the underground and break the barrier) EDIT: so thats why i disagree that chara is 10

I would give Chara 3/10 because Chara was willing to sacrifice themselves to save all monsters with them and Asriel's plan but at the same time they were committed to kill six humans so they could go through the barrier, in the end it didn't work out anyways. and I wouldn't count the whole genocide thing because you're the one who is corrupting them with hate by killing all the monsters they wouldn't have done that themselves!
I'm not 100% sure if sans saying "you'd be dead where you stand" was supposed to be a threat. I interpretted it as meaning that the only reason Frisk made it that far is that sans was there helping them.

Papyrus in my opinion is the nicest character in the game because unlike Toriel he doesn't kill you at all. he also still believes in you even after killing him.
He's the nicest character, yes, but he still wants to capture you, which in language from the Surface (here) would mean abduct you. Plus, he only "captures" you when you're down to 2-3 HP and while yes, he has no bad intentions, he still tries to impale you with magical bones so... Yeah, he's nice but he's not perfect.
BatPenguin Gaming Yeah she is shocked and anything, but Papyrus doesn't fight that long to the point where you could die. So I think that Papyrus looks more after your life. :)
I think the same. Toriel literally tries to kidnap you although she does it to protect you. She also left Asgore when the whole kingdom needed her and their hope. Monsters in the ruins are scared of her! I am not saying she is the worst person in the game, she only proyects on you all her sorrow and fear becausw of Asriel and Chara's deaths (and she also refused Asgore's plan because she only wanted peace) On the other hand, Papyrus cannot kill you. Even Undyne admits that he could not fight against anybody because he is too friendly. When you talk to him, he is so innocent he will think positively even if you insult him or his pasta. And when he is almost dead, he still believes in you. He risks his life for you, to spread kindness. Toriel doesn't do that, she only fights with you because she thinks that a little kid cannot kill her, a Boss Monster (she proves you to scare you) That's what I think :)

Asgore was pure pressured into killing those humans. So in my opinion he at least deserves a 5 because Toby fox confirmed it himself that asgore is crying in his boss fight. Either that or change undynes score to 7 because she would do the same for monster kind. Everything else I agree with though and enjoy your day.

Sans knew you won't just destroy the underground, but the entire dimension, so he exploited all the rules of an RPG, and wanted to make you feel the pain of the other monsters, by exploiting the game mechanics and killing you over and over, hoping that you will rage-quit.

If intent doesn't excuse actions technically alphys is more evil than asgore, seeing as they condemned many more monsters than humans asgore killed to a life of pain. Granted, they do get freed but nothing good comes of the experiments, while asgore's killing of humans is what saved the monsters.

yes, he DOES attack you, but in truth, all he REALLY wants is to be everyones friend. in the pacifist or neutral(if you spare him) route, he will actually LIE to undyne because he does not want her to kill you. undyne is NOT the kind of monster to forgive that when it comes to a HUMAN at that point in undertale, so if she actually FOUND OUT, papyrus would LOSE a friend, and undyne would PROBABLY stop training him. we all know that papyrus would HATE to lose a friend, so the fact that he did that is actually really nice. in the genocide route, he is the ONLY character who actually still believes you can be a good person, NO OTHER CHARACTER believes in you.

Even though we aren’t really a character, the player is still the most evil person in Undertale. We (most people) RESET so many times and kill them all without much remorse (at least for me). We controlled Frisk, probably without them wanting us to, and used them to kill everyone over and over, and then once we got a “happy ending” we RESET and took it all away. Even Flowey didn’t want to RESET that. We truly are the most evil one in Undertale.

I definitely would not call Papyrus narcissistic or have narcissistic tendencies. I would call him vain or conceited, but he does show care for others, which is not something a narcissist can do.

Personally I think that Papyrus is the nicer than Toriel. And with the throwing bones in your face situation, Toriel throws fireballs at you. You might say "Oh she was doing that to protect you" well she shows no remorse when you get hit (neither does any character) also Papyrus doesnt want to kill you, he wants to capture you. Toriel wants you to stay with her. And if she wanted to keep you safe she could have gone with you into the underground. Also, Papyrus just needs to practise making spaghetti more. Also Toriel seems to replace each child with another every time a new human child ends up in the underground.
Most of this is proving they are quite similar but I also think Papyrus is nicer!

I'm 26 and I still don't have a job, so we can't just assume he's eighteen, all we know for sure is that he's younger than Sans. To be honest, I would've taken a point or two off of Asgore's score and had him at about *5*. He's not really what I'd call a bad person-- more a good person who was forced into doing the things he did in moments of weakness (IE. rage and cowardice), and you can definitely tell that he really, _really_ does not want to go through with it and immensely regrets what he's doing, but feels he has to for the sake of his people. Plus, considering the equipment of the other fallen humans was found at various different points across the Underground instead of just at New Home like their SOULs were, it's not even certain whether Asgore did kill them himself.
Likewise, I don't really see what was stopping Toriel from enacting her _"kill one human, cross barrier, kill six random humans on other side, then break barrier"_ plan herself if she was that adamant that Asgore was a terrible person because he wouldn't do it. You could justify that with her Pacifism, but the way I see it, it just makes her a bit of a hypocrite-- particularly with her acting as if she was the only one affected by the deaths of both their own children and the six other humans that fell down, and selfishly abandoning her people when they needed her the most. I'd have given her a 3 or 4.

Perhaps, and you do raise some valid points. The thing is though, the reason I gave Toriel a score as high as that is mostly down to not only her being a hypocrite (especially with the whole _"If Asgore is so terrible for not using one soul to cross over the Barrier, kill six random humans and use those to break the Barrier, why doesn't she do it herself"_ thing), but also down to her not nearly being as good as people say she is when you actually look a bit deeper into certain things.
I mean, sure, she's nice enough, but not exactly the paragon of virtue everyone says she is- especially when you consider she acted the whole time like Asgore was gleefully slaughtering children (when a, it's not even certain if he did kill them himself, and b, he's evidently heartbroken by it regardless) that again, she was the only one who was suffering as a result of their deaths, and as someone else mentioned, how eerily OK she is in most of the endings where she lives (except True Pacifist, where she has more time to think about it) with her ex-husband being murdered by either Frisk or Flowey.
Likewise, Toriel wasn't confused when she abdicated from the throne, she knew full well what she was doing and abandoned her people when they needed her the most on the basis of her own beliefs. And it doesn't change the fact that she could've easily acted out her own plan to break the Barrier more quickly, but she didn't, and basically left to hide in the Ruins, wallow in her own self-pity and to avoid having to take firm-but-unpleasant action that would ultimately benefit the kingdom in the long run. Basically, the exact same thing she's accusing Asgore of, so he's really not the only one to blame for it, as she tries to make out.
That, and the fact she tried to hold the children who fell down in the Ruins in there forever regardless of their will, even going as far as considering destroying the exit to stop Frisk leaving after the other six left and died before they directly intervened. It's not as bad as say, declaring war on humanity (Asgore) or trying to rip someone's soul out of their still-living body (Undyne), but it's still essentially kidnapping.
But yeah, don't think me saying all this means I don't like Toriel. She's a very good character, but one thing that does annoy me is when she's held up on a pedestal as this perfect, saintly individual whilst Asgore is seen as this brutal ghoul who gleefully murders children despite him not actually being that bad at all.

Actually, you could still be a jerk on a pacifist route, so possibly 1-6 (maybe 7) based on scale. His scale wasn't really well-thought out as "little bit of a jerk" scores 6 and Undyne who is rude to you (unless you befriend her eventually), tries to kill a child completely unprovoked on pacifist route even if for "greater good" and Asgore who is far nicer than Undyne and was conflicted about killing the same gets score 7. Granted he might have killed more than Undyne, , we don't know. In addition he also gave an order to kill 7 humans but Undyne was very eager to do so. So Undyne actions go well beyond "little bit of a jerk".

I'd say Asgore is a 5 like Undyne.
It's a fact that in a fit of rage that Asgore declared war on Humanity and planned the gathering of the seven human souls to destroy humanity, but that rage lasted a few days at most. At that point he didn't want that kind of revenge anymore, but as king it was now the duty to his people.
Asgore never hurt anyone personally, (until he attacks Frisk at the end of neutral/pacifist). It was the royal guard who captured humans/killed them and took their souls to Asgore.
Let's not forget that it's Chara, the first fallen Human who literally shaped the way for EVERYTHING bad that happened, hadn't he/she committed suicide and almost forcing Asriel to commit genocide on the humans. (after Charas soul was absorbed by Asriel it tried to make Asriel kill the humans) leading to both of their deaths at the same day NOTHING bad would have started in the Undertale universe.
Asgore: 5 (he still stayed committed to the goal and attacks/kills Frisk)
Chara: 10 (Culmination of evil)
Flowey: 8 (victim of circumstances, but still an evil prick)

MMmm... Chara should not be 10. I’d say maybe 3 or 4. After the genocide route, she said “with your guidance.” It was the evil player who showed her that killing was okay, and decided to help.
i disagree that chara is 10 because she/he killes you at the end of genacide so he/she stoped you from somehow going back to the suface and killing all humans there to she/he aslo stops you from absorbing the other six human souls (probably how frisk would have escaped the underground and break the barrier)

I would give Chara 3/10 because Chara was willing to sacrifice themselves to save all monsters with them and Asriel's plan but at the same time they were committed to kill six humans so they could go through the barrier, in the end it didn't work out anyways. and I wouldn't count the whole genocide thing because you're the one who is corrupting them with hate by killing all the monsters they wouldn't have done that themselves!

He's the nicest character, yes, but he still wants to capture you, which in language from the Surface (here) would mean abduct you. Plus, he only "captures" you when you're down to 2-3 HP and while yes, he has no bad intentions, he still tries to impale you with magical bones so... Yeah, he's nice but he's not perfect.

I think the same. Toriel literally tries to kidnap you although she does it to protect you. She also left Asgore when the whole kingdom needed her and their hope. Monsters in the ruins are scared of her! I am not saying she is the worst person in the game, she only proyects on you all her sorrow and fear becausw of Asriel and Chara's deaths (and she also refused Asgore's plan because she only wanted peace)
On the other hand, Papyrus cannot kill you. Even Undyne admits that he could not fight against anybody because he is too friendly. When you talk to him, he is so innocent he will think positively even if you insult him or his pasta. And when he is almost dead, he still believes in you. He risks his life for you, to spread kindness. Toriel doesn't do that, she only fights with you because she thinks that a little kid cannot kill her, a Boss Monster (she proves you to scare you)

So in my opinion he at least deserves a 5 because Toby fox confirmed it himself that asgore is crying in his boss fight.
Either that or change undynes score to 7 because she would do the same for monster kind.
