    Why not take the air cleaner bracket off?
    It's 3 screws

    What was the old jet size vs. the new jet size?

  • @b4130
    @b4130 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    29.5 intermediate jet for that size motor is too small at most altitudes if its had any performance mods done to it i.e. cams, intake, exhaust

    I strongly thread locker on the air cleaner plate screws. Sucking one in will ruin your day!

    Great Video...
    How important is the rubber boot on the accelerator pump plunger?
    Mine is pretty whooped.
    My 73 Ironhead sportster with super E seems starved for fuel at high rpm/speed. Gonna try high flow petcock next.

    I have about as much knowledge of motorcycles as I do of the DNA strand and its make up! ZERO! But I'm gonna try and take my carb apart and mess with it and see whats up. I live in a high elevation and my 2001 Indian Scout coughs and splutters like a chain smoker with pneumonia BUT I bought it from a bloke up here so I assume it was already tuned for this altitude. Beautiful bike just runs like a big......

    Is it me or was it to hard to take out the five fasteners to remove the support/backing plate? Also hiw about that black O ring sitting in the bowl?

    Dude....use bigger flathead on the 3 screws for the air cleaner backing plate and you won't get screws that look like those. I changed mine out to stainless SHCS.

    The observer said "choke" but the S&S has no choke, it has an enrichener . And no main jet size mentioned.

    All this time you could have removed that air filter bracket to get that intermediate Jet! dahhhh!

    • @Pilotjoe7
      @Pilotjoe7  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if it's the OEM car cover just look behind it and you should see three bolts that hold it on two on either side and one on the bottom

    if the needle and seat aren't sealing and allow fuel into crankcase, would it idle ok without flooding?

    Iv got a 127" and have a stumble wen you try to hold a set speed but wen ur in the throttle it run perfect any thoughts I got a 032 intm jet and 70 main

    • @cravinbob
      @cravinbob 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe up to a 73 or 74 jet or a mid-range fuel circuit. I assume the stumble is at highway speed. and it is sucking more air and less fuel so when you crack the throttle more it pulls more fuel . My shovel will run a 70 and better at 68 so 70 is small I think for 127
      Check out this 128 shovelhead (yes you read it right) th-cam.com/video/Me40j59H3C4/w-d-xo.html

      That’s a lean stumble
      Your 32 sounds good but unless you have a thunder jet you’ll need a 76 main minimum

    HuH 29.5 / 74 range that jet range is way to small for a 111 engine

    I have a Question for anyone who might know, I own a 08 K9 117 I had the bike on the battery tender it was fully charged I turned the key and nothing happened and no lights also. So I decided to see if battery was dead and touched both post with a wire and it arced. I turned the key again and the bike started right up! thanks

      Please please stop doing this, shorting the battery is not good for the electronicss. Newer bikes have computers like cars. I blew up the computer on new ford ranger installing a new radio. Electronics are also sensitive to ESD.

      Well...we do know the proper jet size now? Might I add....I've been using various S&S products for about 40 years....they DO make it clear their stuff is intended to be installed by someone with mechanical skills....I've had pretty good results by actually reading all the directions before I start the job...AND....any changes in exhaust...like straight pipes....will cause carb/fuel issues...all my 4 bikes ran better with some sort of muffler system...Ironhead Sportys, Knuckle.....

      Pilotjoe7, At the end it was said that the jets were upsized.....What size did you go to on both the main and mixture screw?
