Chevy got us out of a pickle once again
Chevy created this pickle. once again
@@Matt-nj1yhhe didn’t. Rutger states outright he would not play for Winnipeg. He said it didn’t feel right
@@Ninokapanen 1) Rutger wanted to play top 6 minutes AND Power Play 1 line.
2) CHEVY was the one to say nope. sorry.
3) talent is based off self confidence, all the most talented are the ones that are the most eccentric.
4) When Jets stated that he would not be gifted the top position instantly he then said... it didn't feel right.
5) you cannot just start at the end and pretend you know it all.
It wasn't a bad trade, but to say we won, and received the better player is kinda wrong. anything can happen, but it's unlikely. Chevy is not a savior, he is terrible at resource management!
@@Matt-nj1yh No GM is going to guarantee a prospect a roster spot. That's why potential trades fell through at the draft. They wouldn't guarantee him a spot either.
Rutger did a good job in telling the Jets what they wanted to hear. That's not on Chevy. He took Rutger at his word. If he was honest in his interview, then Chevy would have drafted someone else.
Yeah, Chevy got the Jets out of a pickle that wasn't their doing and got a very good return.
@@tourond583 so when a manager hires a bad employee it's the employee's fault? how many drafts need to leave before you think management has something to do with it?
He made a bad call. He hired the wrong person! the fact you refuse to believe it even though you literally said he should have/would have hired somebody different if he knew. well... managing people is difficult to those who cannot manage people.
I hope Lowry welcomes him to the league when they play the penguins
Prairie Kid won’t bitch about playing here and should come with some respect. Guarantee he’ll be a better player than Rutger
All of the best hockey scouts say otherwise... but that's not the point. At least he wants to play here and will try his hardest. It's okay to not like a player like Rutger, but we must still remain within reality
@@Matt-nj1yhI mean Yager was projected top 10 in 2023 in a stronger draft yet went at the same spot as Rutger who was in a weaker draft lol. Rutger struggles with skating, Yager also plays Center. So I mean it’s much closer than you think. Sure rut is NHL ready but that’s also cause he’s a year ahead. Yager has a better shot, speed, hands, I’d give rut the physicality and leadership. So it’ll be interesting. Both projected top 6 regardless. But it’s not a lobsided deal.
@@Matt-nj1yh No one really knows anything yet. Some of the biggest projected stars turned out to be duds in the NHL. Just one example off the top of my head is that Nail Yakapov guy who go drafted 1st in Edmonton and turned to be a big nothing. But there are many others. So Yager could do well in NHL or not, so could McGroarty. We won't really know who's the better player for like another 5 years. However, lets give you the benefit of the doubt and say McGroarty is slightly better than Yager It's Better to have a player thats a 7/10 in ability but wants to be there, and will bust his a$$ trying to win for you, rather than have a player thats an 8/10 but doesn't want to be here and will barely try.
@@marksydor3108 I said that exact same thing... here is my quote:
... but that's not the point. At least he wants to play here and will try his hardest.
that was a good trade
Should play a big role for Team Canada at the WJHC.
There is certainly a need for quite a few changes to Canada's WJHC roster for the upcoming tournament considering that the last tournament featured a quarterfinal exit at the hands of the relevant Czech team.
@@wainber1yager was ppg for Canada, him and Barlow will both be on that roster id assume.
Yager WOW, he was dominant in the WHL, his stock has gone up with the 95 point performance and winning the Memorial Cup. Great move to get him, I think he may have a higher ceiling than Rutger (maybe a lower floor, if that makes sense)..
Amazing what chevy can pull off. it cant be easy being the GM of the jets but he makes us competitive all the time. love that guy. just wish he would stop trading away our picks at the deadlines, it never works out, that's his only fault
I'm so glad Rutgers gone, he is just a spoiled brat
I'll take it! Better than I had hoped we could get for a guy that everyone knew wanted out.
Love this move by the Jets, Brayden Yager was my favourite prospect in the 2023 draft. Can’t wait to see him in this lineup
Love the take!! Chevy a master dealer again to get out of the mess of a player McGroarty.
Really happy getting Yager. Nice pair from draft year with Barlow.
Brayden Yager is much easier to say than Rutger McGroarty.
Excited to see him in Jets colours.
Good one for one trade imo, I'm glad we got something out of it instead of letting rutger go to free agency next year.
A little Chevy magic! GO JETS GO!
Great video and welcome Brayden 🤜🏽❤️
Good trade but as much as I hate it, McGroarty is the better player so far. Given the circumstances Yager is a good fit and almost equally skilled, but McGroarty is more nhl ready. Hopefully Yager develops to be the 2C Jets need
At this point, Rutget should be better. He's played an extra year and has that much more experience for scouts to look at. Eager most likely goes back to MJ and we should see him take another big step forward.
W trade. Later Rutger!!!
As much as I wish things could have worked with Rutger (I think he is probably one of the better prospects in the league right now), his attitude really rubbed me the wrong way. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t even played a single game yet should be demanding top 6 minutes, especially on a team that just finished 4th in the league last year lmao. Hopefully Yager is more humble, even if he isn’t as good down the line, as long as he is a good team player, I’ll be happy.
Yager wants to be in Wpg and will try. Thats huge.
Jersey didn't feel right. Chevy should have sent him a Jets Onesie with a note "This should work". So long, entitled Wanker, welcome Brayden.
hopefully a modern Jagr is Yager!!
So No Laine Then Jets, Im Angry!!!!🤬
will he be at training camp?
I’m sure he will be
he will but he will be back in the whl for another year after camp. Jets always take their time developing prospects
I hope Karma arrives and Yager makes the Jets before McWhiney makes Pittsburgh. While this attitude is hardly exclusive to Americans (Eric Lindros, anybody?) but it sure seems Americans are far more likely to come in with this entitled attitude. What ever happened to "I don't care who I play for, I am just happy to be in the NHL"?
2 words.... ERIC LINDROS. Talent is more important than drama. ignore the drama... focus on the stats.
FYI... Chibrikov is better than Lambert
Jets lost out on giving up the better player. Hopefully, this trade doesn't age poorly like I think it will.
yeah your absolutely out of your mind. Rutger is a talent sure, but he skates extremely slow, and doesn’t have the skills yager does. The leadership quality is what makes rutger seemingly look like a better prospect when he really isn’t. Yager is a stud and a center that Winnipeg really needed.
@@reign2204 Rutger is widely considered to be the better player, there's data that proves that. Both are great prospects, but Rutger arguably has the higher ceiling. It's a great trade for both teams. The Pens get the better player, but the Jets get a solid return for a guy that didn't want to be there.
@@james_nolan The Rutger McGroarty saga had turned quite ugly for the Jets but at least thank God someone who appeared to have wanted to play for the Manitoba NHL team. TBD will be whether Yager will successfully transition his game to the NHL from major junior because as good as many prospects appear to be, some don't successfully make the transition to the NHL.
How ? He wasnt comming or going to sign! A bag of pucks and a case of gatorade and we would`ve been a win
@@james_nolan he’s widely considered to be the better prospect due to his name and size, leadership quality. Talent alone, yager has the better shot, skating, and hands lol. So I don’t get where Rutger beats him talent wise other than physicality. The only reasons he’s better known is because of his leadership traits. However both are great players. McGroarty has very large skating issues so saying he has the higher ceiling is blatantly false when they are probably much more equal towards ceilings.
no one wants to play in winnipeg worst city in canada lol no one will want to get traded there so your only hope is prospects and im sure mcgroarty will do just fine playing with 87 😂
