    The “slow rolling lip explosion” has helped me in tremendously. Video your attempts. You will be able to see if your front wheel is diving or following the angle of the jump face. Putting a stick on the lip will help in learning to press the back tire through the entire jump face. If the back tire doesn’t hit the stick then you finished your press too early. Jumping well is an incredibly complex skill and I for sure didn’t appreciate how much practice it takes to make progress.

    I left my dance partner behind 5 minutes into riding my first mountain bike yesterday. I can’t remember exactly what happened because I landed on my head but I think I leaned way left and nose dove into the ground smacking my head harder than I ever have in my life. Trying to figure it out because I lost all confidence I had going into it. I think I watch too many Red Bull videos haha.

    I’ve found that focusing on doing something in the air like a small bar turn, a small whip, small table, etc, can really help keep you in control of the bike. You have to basically control the bike to do those movements , rather than just being along for the ride.

    A dead sailor is just passively sitting on the bike, resulting in body weight being thrown backwards, pulling on handlebars, loading rear wheel, which causes rebound and catapult forward with stiff arms pulling body forward to its doom.

    I suffer badly from the lean (towards my left side) sometimes, and other times I'm straight, but my front keeps rising and my rear doesn't, so I'm sort of carrying that lip angle of the jump all the way across the table/gap, and I come down rear wheel first at a 45°anglw or so, and that's terrifying! Definitely ruins my confidence! Both mostly only happen almost exclusively on tall,l & lippy or medium sized fast jumps (blue jumps at bike parks), not so much gradual angle, lower height rollers.
    Worst crash I've had was that near vertical frozen position, overshot the transition entirely and came down near vertically in the flat below. Bad shoulder injury and knocked the wind out of me for the first time since IDK when, if ever.

      @@JoeIsCrazyWillman sounds like your not actually exploding of the lip, either sitting in the back seat or your timing is off. I offer 1on1 video reviews that are very helpful.

    Great video. I randomly get the sideways fall off dead sailors, even get them while doing wheelies and manuals. I have some random balance issue when pulling which makes it near impossible to progress on jumps.

    Question: Why do many people use dirt jump bikes hardtails if you have to preload your frame suspension to jump which is something you said you must do? People who ride those kind of bikes at parks don't seem to have any trouble to my untrained eye. What are they doing differently?

    • @D91Mart
      @D91Mart 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Are you asking why are dirt jump bikes hardtails and not full suspension? And why do people look like they jump effortlessly on full sus bikes? I don't understand what you are saying lol.
