Em has been a constant in these 3 girls life and I believe he refers to all 3 as his daughters.
The older I get the more I understand the content of this song. As a kid I just liked how it sounded but now that Im well into my 20s, I empathise with Eminem.
As a kid I felt it and understood it from the other side, being the child of two parents who were not doing well financially and were abusive and not healthy together.
Mockingbird is a hymn for real dads. I cry every time, maybe because being a dad was the most important thing for me and probably I wasn’t as good of a father than I thought 😢

Mockingbird is such a classic… a song that gets even more popular as the years go on… as someone who grew up in a broken home it really hits deep for me the entire story of the song + it’s a very well done instrumental fact he turned a lullaby into that aesthetic/sound is pretty amazing + like your dad said it’s a really nice chorus with those keys in the background deff one of my fave from Eminem 💯 some don’t realize how diverse he is in terms of range of songs from emotional, sad, angry, funny, hype, motivational etc…
You should play him “Cleaning out my Closet” the anger towards his mom & the play him “Headlights” which shows his growth and his apology to his mom. It’s been one of my favorite parts of his career
I think it is more of him, accepting her apology and coming to terms with his anger towards her. Because he knows that she had a problem and what she did wasn’t acceptable, but he had to accept it to move on.

Mockingbird was the song that made me fall in love with Eminem. When I was younger I didn't listen to Eminem, I just heard some songs every now and then Like D12's My Band/How Come. But I didn't specifically listen to him. I knew some of the songs, cause they played on the radio but I didn't seek him out. It wasn't until 19 years ago, when I was in Middle School that I heard Mockingbird for the first time and then that was it for me, I was hooked on Eminem and had a newfound appreciation for him. Love him to this day. Amazing Musician, Amazing Father.

Eminem before getting clean is a lot angrier then Eminem after getting clean. You can see a big change is his music from one period to the next. Getting clean an more mature I think helped him emotionally. An music was always a therapy for him to let his emotions out.

I used to listen to Eminem a lot as a kid because of my parents. This song always stuck with me, especially when my dad died. I would sit on my porch and listen to Mockingbird on full volume and just *listen.* Also, it’s so funny hearing him say ‘it’s the first time I’ve had an opening to a difficult family dynamic’ (or something like that idk) because this song resonates with me. I’ve heard it and experienced it. It’s definitely my favourite Eminem song.

I relate to this song so much, i have always had a tough time growning up with my parents and some of the lyrics represent almost exactly what happened to some extent.
I remember I finally got a CD player as a kid and fell in love with this song. It spoke to me as a child in a broken home. I could relate to all of it. Hell, our house even got broken into and we got robbed. Now I’m a young man, wanting to start a family and I have so much motivation to provide a better life for my children as a future father.

My dad went to prison for almost 10 years when I was 12. Before that it was just him and I. This is “our” song

i remember this was the one song i really, really wanted to listen to in the car with my dad off of his burned cds but he always skipped it. said i shouldn’t listen to it. i, being a kid of the 2000s and the internet, naturally found my way around that. eminem’s music was something that my dad and i connected through, and he wasn’t always around so i listened to this on repeat when he wasn’t there. weird coming back to this. i still feel like a little kid when i hear it. wild

I think eminem and joyner are two of the best rappers that just sound like theyre talking to you and telling a story without it sounding like they're trying to rhyme. At this point I bet eminem has to try not to rhyme in his everyday life 😂
Have you seen the videos (wether it’s from instagram or tik tok not sure but i see them on instagram) it’s a dude that dresses like Eminem and reacts to normal situations, and it’s just “Eminem” rapping non stop lol. Because I bet it’s really like that. He probably finds a new rhyme every day lol

im very surprised he said at the end he found rock bottom more emotional, this song literally breaks me but i have a daughter and he has a son so maybe its the relatability factor im not sure. Just found that surprising. Glad they done mockingbird tho ive been waiting patiently for it (pun unintended)
i always loved this song. i never knew why until i listened to the lyrics and thought, damn, it makes so much sense. i wouldn’t say entirely at all, but i can definitely relate to some of these lyrics.

Yeah, I'm still hoping that they patch things up and be together again for old time sake. They look happy together in this music video. We all have our problems in life and time will come that we are just too old to think about it anymore and just enjoy life. I hope theyre doing fine whether apart or together. i was 13 when this song released, so i was one of those kids just started to learn/see about the reality life ... and you know what? this song is one of many songs that kinda hit my heart hard, make me think what`s gonna happen to me in the future
