China heatwave: Government issues extreme weather alert

- A heatwave has swept across northern China, bringing record breaking temperatures of more than 40 degrees Celsius.
China’s agricultural ministry says the heat, and a possible drought, will have an adverse effect on crop planting.
Al Jazeera’s Katrina Yu reports from Beijing, China.

China maybe the biggest contributor as a country of greenhouse gases, but per person, the US is the biggest, second is the UK.

40 degrees is still better than India almost 50 degrees. Beside, the Chinese government is better prepared and takes care of the people far better than many other countries.

@@hengongchua6250 im indian and my god my country is a joke. We are used to heatwaves and we know when its coming still we dont have proper procedures and we are not prepared. Maybe one day we can be as educated and smart as chinese people

Thats why I say that a lot of the future of China will and should be in the northeast of China. It's a massive landmass up there and way cooler in temperature

China is the biggest energy consumer, but speaking of per person, China only consumes 38% of average developed country citizens. When westerners accuse China for heat emission they never mention that a westerner a almost emit 3 times more heat.

Colder than average here in SE Australia for first winter month. The last five summers have also been cooler than normal. The snow season hasn't been much good for a while though.
@Al Jazeera English. Correction: el nino and climate change variables accounted for, the difference is about 0.3c from loss of our sulfur pollution from the clean fuels for cruise ships and China cleaning up their pollution too. The pacific heat blob is CAUSED by China becoming a cleaner nation.
