- Stuck in Space: Boeing Starliner Glitches Leave Sunita Williams Orbiting | Firstpost Tech & Trade
The Boeing Starliner spacecraft launched its first crewed test flight from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on June 5. Over a month later, the spacecraft remains docked at the International Space Station (ISS), with Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams and her crewmate Barry Wilmore aboard. Initially planned for just a few days, NASA and Boeing have extended the astronauts' stay on the ISS thrice. In their latest update, NASA didn't provide a return date for the Starliner. The space agency is now reportedly considering extending the mission from 45 to 90 days due to technical issues. During its journey to the ISS, the Starliner experienced helium leaks and thruster failures. Despite these problems, officials maintain that the spacecraft is safe for the astronauts' return. This incident isn't isolated to Boeing spacecraft. The company's aircraft division has faced several safety mishaps this year, leading to increased scrutiny of its manufacturing processes. Now, it seems Boeing's space venture may be encountering similar challenges to its aerospace business.

I don't think people realize how bad this situation is. Just imagine going to a remote location far away and suddenly your car breaks down. Now you're stranded in the middle of nowhere and now you have to wait and hope someone comes to get you. Now imagine that but you're in space.

They outsourced certain critical components and replaced experienced engineers in their leadership with greedy accountants who do not understand engineering. They were also allowed to evaluate their own aircraft instead of the Federal Aviation Authority and gave themselves passing grades.
It's an American thing. Cut production costs to make more profit.
No, they had been doctrinated to build tofu construction . . . since they know that no matter what they do, China will overtake them for the next billion years and that's the end of western dominance and they'd rather blow up the world than to admit that.

They could have been back yesterday if the situation was so bad.
maybe watch til the end and you’ll find out?
@@tonganqueenb5517 I guess watching the full video is too difficult for some people lol.
Back until consume all the food in ISS. And get an reward of longest stay in space.
Safety first. Delay is for safety.
Both NASA and Boeing knew of this problem prior to launch. Yet they proceeded with the launch anyways. Boeing should be sued for allowing this craft to be launched even though they knew it had problems. Plus they should not be able to push the cost of the judgment against them onto their customers. The same thing should be said about NASA, sue the hell out of them and not allow NASA to recoup the dollars by getting an increase in their budget to cover the judgment against them.
They need to revert to using the Russian shuttle to take their astronauts up to the ISS and back, as they've been doing for the past couple of decades.
Less than 1 decade buddy not a couple of decades. Not to mention the Americans already have the best manned spacecraft in the world. Also the cheapest as well

Why the focus on only Sunita Williams and not BOTH astronauts?
Gee, it could be because it's a report from India news outlet.
Liars. They can no longer do anything correctly due to their greed and lies.
In the US there are tons of company executives with massive, massive salaries and benefits (e.g. recall the disgraced Boeing CEO Jim "737-Max" McNerny having to scrape by now with a life-long pension of just $250,000. Per month.) And all he did was wreck Boeing.

So Sandra Bullock's movie (Gravity) is plausible. Though of course, under a different circumstance.
No movie is plausible, virtually, at least when talking about today's movies.

Boeing is one of the big airplane company, but considering all these glitches, it is embarrassing USA everywhere, in almost all fields where the Americans were considered untouchable, Even now they are untouchable, no one wants to touch them even with barge pole
So Boeing knew that there was a helium leak, and yet, they launched the spacecraft anyway. What a concern for safety they had! No wonder why their planes have fallen apart!
