Why should I choose 6x6 Arocs SLT over 8x4 Actros SLT. Arocs is ment more for offroad conditions but with tires like that you definitely not going to construction sites Also why is the wheelbase so long? Makes the truck bit ugly 😉
The wheelbase is long because of the 6x6 drive. You need a transfer case in the driveline, that needs space. With an 8x4 you can transport less total weight in Switzerland then with the 6x6, as the total weight in CH depends on the amount of driven axles. Also a 6x6 has much better traction on mountain roads, around sharp corners and on gravel roads. A heavy hauler like this should not go heavy offroad, at least not with the standard trailers that are used in Europe anyway.
@@Ditzj thanks for an answer. Strange rules in Switzerland 😉 Most of the times heavy hauls with lowloaders or module trailers use 8x4 configuration in Europe. That’s why I asked what is the advantage to pick high clearance 6x6 over 8x4 truck. Actually I have never seen 6x6 pulling module trailers or low loaders. Cant even find videos from all mighty TH-cam 😂

@@Ditzj can you actually turn off the front axle drive to save fuel in empty runs or it’s full 6x6 whole the time?
@@fboest A quick look in the MB configurator says, that the 33 ton 6x6 with OM473 comes with a permanent driven drop box.
