Scanias and Volvos need a lot of horsepower for transporting big loads of timber on bad roads in the forrests of Northern Europe. The authorities in Sweden are even increasing the allowed max loads from 60 000 to 74 000 kgs, which will probably increase the need for big engines even more, even if the North European market is relatively small. Volvo tried to buy Scania about 20 years ago but Volkswagen managed to stop this by using EU laws against market domination. Kind of strange considering the small size of the Swedish market compared to the global market that these two manufacturers really sell on. Otherwise we would probably have had a joint Swedish truck manufacturer today.

2:08 This competition between VOLVO & SCANIA gained even more momentum already in the late 70s and early 80s, between Volvo and SAAB-SCANIA when the SAAB 99 and 900 turbos were the hottest on the passenger car market and with the new Volvo 240 turbo as a challenger. 😎👍 Now that SAAB is no longer built (stopped in 2012), VOLVO has been so bold (or lack of imagination, brain drain) that they have used the SAAB aero logo on their new trucks and called the 2024 model VOLVO FH-AERO. 😄
Id say that this depends a lot on where in EU are you gonna drive. In terms of parts id say Mercedes and MAN are winners since parts are available even in the rural parts of Macedonia or in the cold Dutch sea shore. But in the end they use more or less the same fuel systems and gearboxes
MAN too outdated, and the teeny tiny air tanks combined with a gutless air compressor results in constant building up of air pressure if your not sitting on a motorway all day.
Well, Scania is going for it. In month or two there will be first brand new Scania truck on american roads. Will be driven by Bruce Wilson. Main goal shows and passing some test. But still it's two or three years for maybe an official start of sales. If Scania will succeed then maybe other will go for it. And maybe Volvo will start build EU style trucks in us.
You are 100% correct the best truck is the one that you can afford that suits your needs , As nowdays trucks are a much for much ..They all offer the latest safety systems , etc .Merc have a slight advantage with technology i would say ,due to the investment in the car tech ,which can be adapted for the truck ..DAF are renowned for their beds which are accepted by all to be the best ,They also boast the best breakdown service DAFaid in the UK or ITS international Truck Service for the rest of Europe ..Afterall everything breaksdown ..But they will do the utmost to get it repaired ASAP ,,Scania &Volvo are classed as Premium brands ,as said you pay more ,which hopefully you recoupe with better residuals ..Do you need all that horsepower ? Torque is king is it not ?.Although the VOLVO I-SHIFT gearbox was mentioned it is widely regarded as the best automated truck gearbox on the market..All brands even those not mentioned are good trucks ..And they ALL no matter what make have issues ..And how the respective manufacturer deals with them is of huge importance to the customer,,,,PACCAR are not an engine manufacturer ..The MX11 &13 are manufactured by DAF in Eindhoven and in the states the smaller PX7 PX5 are made by CUMMINS all engines have PACCAR on them ,The vehicle even have A PACCAR product on them .Paccar as such do not make anything ,but own the companies that do

Easy list! 1. Scania, 2. Volvo, 3. Draw of Mercedes and MAN, Man has Scanias Interior and beat Mercedes in interior, but Mercedes has better reliability than MAN. and last is DAF that I have nothing good to say about. It's simply put a low budget option if you don't care about your work/workers.
During 2026 VW group own Scania and MAN will share complete chassis gearbox, engines and axles. Just a cab will be different. Scania V8 engine is brilliant but try to order one now. Doesn't past emissions limits so only reordered trucks leave factory and no more V8. They need to find solutions or try to change law.

Nice comparison, a few of the lesser known brands would make better, Sisu, KAMAZ Tatra for example
Kamaz it's russian shit on maximality😂
2:08 This competition between VOLVO & SCANIA gained even more momentum already in the late 70s and early 80s, between Volvo and SAAB-SCANIA when the SAAB 99 and 900 turbos were the hottest on the passenger car market and with the new Volvo 240 turbo as a challenger. 😎👍
Now that SAAB is no longer built (stopped in 2012), VOLVO has been so bold (or lack of imagination, brain drain) that they have used the SAAB aero logo on their new trucks and called the 2024 model VOLVO FH-AERO. 😄
Scania for sure!
Not only scania volvo & scania both
The MX13 engine used by Paccar trucks was developed in Eindhoven, The Netherlands by DAF.
Scania is the best.
I do drive a 220hp MAN 15 pallet local distribution truck. No Renaults in the list?
Jesus! After watching all that, still don’t know which one is best! Frustrating!!!!!
3:00 m Paccar engine manufacturer? Paccar engine is the Daf MX 11 and MX 13 engine!
PACCAR is just a name that owns all the brands
Id say that this depends a lot on where in EU are you gonna drive. In terms of parts id say Mercedes and MAN are winners since parts are available even in the rural parts of Macedonia or in the cold Dutch sea shore. But in the end they use more or less the same fuel systems and gearboxes
you had me at Scania.
MAN too outdated, and the teeny tiny air tanks combined with a gutless air compressor results in constant building up of air pressure if your not sitting on a motorway all day.
Volvo ist für mich die Nummer 1.
I am in USA and my cash is ready to buy one.
Scania is the best
Uno più bello e potente dell altro 😮😊❤🎉
Torque is king is it not ?.Although the VOLVO I-SHIFT gearbox was mentioned it is widely regarded as the best automated truck gearbox on the market..All brands even those not mentioned are good trucks ..And they ALL no matter what make have issues ..And how the respective manufacturer deals with them is of huge importance to the customer,,,,PACCAR are not an engine manufacturer ..The MX11 &13 are manufactured by DAF in Eindhoven and in the states the smaller PX7 PX5 are made by CUMMINS all engines have PACCAR on them ,The vehicle even have A PACCAR product on them .Paccar as such do not make anything ,but own the companies that do
MAN and Scania are brand by VW
You Forgot About Iveco🤦♂️
What's Iveco? New name of a toilet paper from IKEA?
Which has best mpg
Which has highest towing
Whats the tonnes to lbs conversion
The end of the video was disappointing. The video should have said: if you want power, choose this brand A, if you want fuel efficiency, choose brand B, ..... etc.
Easy list! 1. Scania, 2. Volvo, 3. Draw of Mercedes and MAN, Man has Scanias Interior and beat Mercedes in interior, but Mercedes has better reliability than MAN. and last is DAF that I have nothing good to say about. It's simply put a low budget option if you don't care about your work/workers.
This is the best channel for newbie truck drivers.
DAF for sure😎
MAN and Mercedes are Afrika 💪🏾
SCANIA best
During 2026 VW group own Scania and MAN will share complete chassis gearbox, engines and axles. Just a cab will be different. Scania V8 engine is brilliant but try to order one now. Doesn't past emissions limits so only reordered trucks leave factory and no more V8. They need to find solutions or try to change law.
I guess this applies MAN versions as they come with different software than Scanias.
They have been part of the VW group for years.
What about Ford Trucks...
Can’t swing a cat in a Scania or Volvo cab
Can we see a video about the Scania T-cab, Volvo VNL, Daf XT and Iveco Strator(the t-cab version of Daf and Iveco)?
Scania Tcab isn't in production any more
@@thomtrucker1925 yea right l.
@@thomtrucker1925 A company in holland make Tcabs ..There is a trucker tim on here who went to holland to collect a new Tcab and you can see how they are made ...But you are correct SCANIA do not make Tcabs ..the company also do bonneted VOLVOS and DAFs
I like the DAF and MAN face-lift ❤
These trucks are also in South- Africa
