  • TRIGGER WARNING: This poddy contains conversation of suicide & extreme mental health challenges. If you are experiencing challenges with your mental health, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 & remember It's okay, not to be okay.
Connor Sahely is a 23 year old man from Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula.
For most of his life, Connor ran from his challenges & hardship. Avoiding pain & suffering at all cost, until it found him & put him in a dark place. Reaching what he only describes as his "lowest of lows" Connor had contemplated & planned to commit suicide but wanted to leave the world with a final message. He planned to walk for 24 hours straight to raise fund & awareness for 'It's Okay, Not To Be Okay'. Completing the 111km walk gave him hope in himself again & it was the beginning of a quest to suffer in service of others & build the resilience or as he calls it 'body armour' required to deal with depression & life adversity he would continue to battle.
Just 25 days out from his 3rd & potentially final charity challenge, Connor is attempting to do 3139 chin-ups in 24 hours to represent the number of lives lost in 2020 to suicide. Aiming to raise $20,000 for It's Okay, Not To Be Okay & remind those watching on that they are capable of amazing things when they sometimes can't see that in themselves.
This conversation was powerful & it was an absolute honour to share Connor's story on the poddy.
