Put restrictions on yourself as well, like making missions faster. In real life, how long astronauts spend in space is an important consideration so try and make your missions last a realistic amount of time, and you'll have to come up with some weird engineering to make do.

So you mentioned that the purpose of the Laythe missions was to determine why Laythe is so similar to Kerbin despite it's distance from the sun. One explanation could be that as Laythe orbits Jool, the immense tidal forces exerted by Jool on Laythe stretches and squeezes the core of the planet like a rubber band, producing lots of geothermal energy that allows Laythe to be warm. This is a similar process to what happens to Europa, a moon that orbits Jupiter. Satellite scans have shown that beneath Europa's icy crust there is a 100km thick ocean that is kept warm by the geothermal energy of the moon
If Matt bought the game and had to buy the dlc Then he only got the game after the 27/04/2014 That means I’ve had the game longer than him So how is he so much better? Probably cos he’s not stupid like I am
The whole reason Laythe is so similar to Kerbin is probably due to tidal heating. Even though it’s far away from the sun. The gravity of Jool pulls on the moon creating friction that creates heat. This could cause a similar atmosphere.
@Nathan Meunier That's not what he meant by tidal heating, it is when the tides vary throughout its orbit, causing friction that generates heat. This is similar to how Jupiter's moon Europa has liquid water and an oxygenated atmosphere.
Jool should have a weird kind of magnetic field so the field gathers when the solar winds blow towards Jool and Jool circles it around close enough to lay the and ball enough to heat it and the winds decay just before more come

I’ve been developing seaplanes myself recently and it’s actually a lot of fun! Most of my designs (except one) have been “flying boat” style designs, and I’ve even built a few SSTOs based off of my designs. Your seaplane is really pretty but I’m amazed it can take off even if it does need the closed cycle, I find without floats or a hull structure with a step-shape, it’s really hard to make them take off without either having very powerful engines, and I also find they need canards at the front to get lift. I guess the hull shape at the bottom works even without a step on your design. Either way, this is an amazing design and I love the wings.
I got the DLC mainly to support squad. I wasn't too interested in the mission builder and I've never touched it, But the parts and new locations are great.

Matt talking about his first SSTO taking a whole day to build when I've just spent a whole morning on one myself. :) But I still build fairly slowly. Actually no, I spent half the morning checking and deleting old saves. The spaceplane happened when I decided to keep a save and wanted to go see an asteroid which had got captured around Kerbin with nothing but the help of the Mun.
I got the expansion, because I like to play the game the way it 'was meant to be', ie. without unofficial mods. Also, all the mods out there with so many parts make it much more confusing for me to build neat stuff :) My latest achievement was a spacestation around Mun with room for 500ish Kerbals, launched in one shot. Thanks to the Making History parts for making that possible.
To be fair, the kerbals would still die upon taking off their helmets due to frostbite caused by Laythe being much further away from Kerbol. Then again, kerbals don't require food, water, sleep, or even air (ie, they can stay in orbit forever without their air ever running out), and they are much more resistant to blunt trauma then humans, so they're probably also resistant to extreme temperatures.
I have gotten a spacecraft in orbit once. You may think, "Wow that's good! Keep up the good work!", well, I got it in orbit by accident, and I had no fuel to slow down the velocity so the spacecraft was stuck up there.
The way you said: “practical” and “sensible” with such disgust shows you are a true Kerbal engineer.
