Builds like these are one of the reasons why I'm fairly keen for KSP2, imagine doing this same launch but with a friend to land while you head off into orbit?
For the KSP2 wishlist, it’d be great if offsetting parts into other parts actually clipped the parts, so that you wouldn’t have bits of wing or nosecone or whatever in the middle of your cargo bay.
Or they could just add the functionality of procedural parts mod into KSP2 stock to reduce the amount of clipping that even has to be done. Probably result in fewer kraken strikes on bigger craft.
Fen Riders If it were that or my idea, I’ll take that. I think there’s room for both, though. If you’re trying to “blend” some parts in some complex joint, it could be hard (or impossible) to get the geometry to match up just with the procedural parts controls. Assuming they just copy the existing plugin and give the root side the same options as the non-root side, anyway.
If you want to have regular tanks able to use liquid fuel only, Interstellar Fuel Switch allows you to change a tank's contents. I use it all the time to use the 2.5 m tanks with nuclear engines.
"It's sold at the shop at the end of my road"- truly, a mark of a fine liquor. Awesome video! Just a thought, maybe someone here might be able to anwer it- is it possible to fly two halves of a spacecraft after a separation with a multiplayer mod?
Finally a potentially useful stratolaunch for KSP. Subsonic stratolaunchers are useless in the stock size solar system. You can just add a staging group and add the parachute into it while in flight. Supersonic speeds are actually more efficient in KSP, particularly at high altitude.
If you get it on a high enough trajectory, you can circularize the spaceplane and land then launcher. You can switch to a vessel in the atmosphere as long as it is at an altitude above 24km.
I enjoy using the mod that adds some nuclear jet engines, basically they're independently powered just like the atomic rockets but use intake air in atmosphere alone and just fuel in vacume, so if you build something in a way to handle high speed you can get suborbital without using any fuel
I'd like to challenge you with an aircraft I spent weeks designing and testing; A single wing nacelle craft. Two nacelles connected by a bridge of aerodynamic surfaces, the cockpit at the front of one of those nacelles (but not both!), and no lifting surfaces outside the two nacelles.
You need to try the mod Flight Manager for Reusable Stages (FMRS)! It's a game changer for stratolaunch systems and multi-stage recovery! It creates a quicksave at every stage separation, and once you get your final stage into stable orbit, it lets you jump back in time to your earlier stage separations, allowing you to control and recover them. Once you're done with recovery, you can jump back to your main stage and continue the mission. Its amazing magic that adds immersion and saves a lot of wasted stages!
That is the kind of craft I'm working on building even longer than this video is out. With middling success. But I tend to drop the launcher like a rocket stage, with seperatons to push it away.
for a docking port aligner just get it as close as possible then use the offset tool and itll snap to the middle edit and if that doesnt work for some reason just set the acquire force to 200 and then cheat gravity to .01% before launching
Here’s an idea: A VTOL SSTO that has a centrifuge ring like from your Mun ring station you did a few months ago. And it can go to any celestial body in the kerbin system. And VTOL on any celestial body. (I feel like I’m describing the Bebop) maybe it has a science processing module. Possibly mining capable.

Best commentary by far of any video you’ve done and the lack of written prep work for the voice over made it all the more enjoyable, especially liked the dark moment when you forgot your victims names as you sent them back to the ground without any hope! Also nice launch vehicle. 🛰🛩 Also JD is jank, get a bottle of Glenfiddich 18 and treat yourself.
to solve the problem of destroying the stratolauncher, what if you attached parachutes as part of an action group that also decoupled it so that when you decoupled the launcher, it would also arm the parachutes. Although it would mean that the launcher wouldn't land near the space center.
When he was talking about being sentimental to the kerbals I had a flashback to when I crashed Valentina on the moon before I went to bed and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was so sad lol.
On the day this video was produced, Matt Lowne temporarily turned into a pirate! That was a real growl at the beginning there; a fun surprise! XD Gimbal Wizard sounds weirdly fun. I love the IVA view of the EVA kerbal. :D ... HAHAHAHAHA that's Jebediah? Insert jokes about the pilot jumping out of the aircraft here! XD Shops at the end of the road or just around the corner are true pillars of civilized life.
I think you should try to get a hypersonic plane, with at least five Kerbals at the start, AND make it at least 50% reusable (You can go for 10 to 100%). Thx :) :p
Y'know, it would be great if someone made a proper multiplayer mod, the concept of a refueling lander would be great. One player would drop down to the surface in a lander, do science and fuel, the other, would direct from above using lots of different scanners. On top of that, once we get orbital craft construction, both players could cooperate in constructing a massive lander, with the equipment to make a colony.
They should make a mod where certain parts will fail when u do missions or launch a spaceship or aircraft, it would be chosen at random depending on witch parts are on your craft.( aka: they don't work during the mission or launch )
Might I suggest you try Wild Turkey's American Honey.. Very smooth for a comparatively low price, and not too sweet (nothing like Southern Comfort). Always been a fan of the Kentucky Bourbons and Tennessee Whiskeys, while generally avoiding the Irish, and am indifferent to Scotch. Don't know if it's going to be the same blend that you get as I'm in Australia.. it probably will since we brew many international brand beers locally (so they taste slightly different) but I'm pretty sure spirits are imported direct
Nice work! Next you should try to get a MASSIVE payload to orbit using a stratolaunch system. I've cheated this by deploying a massive SSTO off of my single launch station rocket mid air but you probably have a more unique way to do it
Matt if you use mecjeb you can use accent guidance set it for the orbit you want when you seperat just stay with the part you wish to land. I have done this before and it was ok. You can not switch while the part you are controlling is moving. But once landedcand stoped you can hit M and than switch ship s and it should be in a stable orbit. Should be is the key word. I believe I gaveca vid on my channel.
I would have brought the boosters up to orbit, detach it, go to the location to deploy the satellite and do just like the light speed ring for fighters from Star Wars (the thing that goes on Obi-wan’s fighter in episode II I think) and go back and dock to it to come back safely with both part
