Christine Chong is a rare find....this actress just makes this character come alive and adds so much to the other great cast members. This is what Trek fans were waiting for.

Awesome episode. A combination of Predator and Aliens represents the Gorn. Certain crew members will be missed (spoiler alert). We don’t need to rush into the James T. Kirk Enterprise. Let’s do 5 to 10 seasons with this present cast.
I think after this show starts to wane and all shows do. That is when Pike will transition to a new position in Starfleet. The one that makes him unable to speak and puts him in that wheel chair. Then ends with Kirk and his crew coming on board. But the shot would only be of the back of thier heads and back as they walk off the turbo lift and onto the bridge.
It was not awesome. LOL It was terrible. How is it they have so much money to produce these episodes but never thought about writers and actors. I could have written a better script and the dialogue is such nonsense. It's Hollywood. It's who you know and how those connections open doors with little regard to actual talent. And get rid of the annoying Uhura and Ortega and Chapel. And M'Benga. Can't we have quality actors in this show? It can't be that hard to find at least a few.
@@carstenaltena It's not meant to be TOS or any of the previous series, it's meant to be its own take, and that's okay. And now we're on the 8th iteraton of Trek (not counting any animated ones) - and they've all done their own take with varying levels of fan love. Comparisons don't have to be zero sum. TNG was meant to be it's own thing set in the same timeline as TOS. a 100 or so years since TOS but still same timeline. CBS/Viacom played a fast one on the fans by saying that STD and Picard are in the Prime timeline. That though Prime is not the OG Timeline. One thing here this Gorn looks like a youngling a darn fast one though. In Enterprise They had a mixture of TOS Gorn with a more fluid motion one on the show. That works since it's staying closer to the aesthetic. Here this is starting to look like Jurassic Park in Space.
this episode was a great episode. How they packed scenes from ALIEN1+ALIEN2+ALEIN3+PREDATOR+T2 was an amazing homage. I hoped for something new but its hard to come up with something new and impress trekkies anymore.
If they tried they could come up with something new. After the original star trek they created, The next generation The Borg The cardassians The Bajorans Q The founders The Jem hadar DS9 Voyager Enterprise The fact they had to go all the way back to kirks Enterprise for stories proves they do not have a lot of creative imagination. So I guess your right. 👍 I can't wait for the next homage. Will it be star wars, Jurassic in park, toy story, the MCU, the fast and the furious franchise. I can't wait for pike to have the Backyard barbecue and talk about......... " family". Also star trek the musical with the dancing Gorn would be incredible , brave, electric, magnetic, and stunningly good 😊 👍
I think killing off Hemmer was a bad idea. He was cool but also we hardly knew him. The Gorn as Alien seems like a cliche. They really can't do any better than that?

Am I only one who find this "Sing" character annoying? Its something between Tasha Yar and B'elanna Torres. Always angry, with some tragic backstory. Also this is really Gorn? Little small dont you think? Or is this some kind version of baby Gorn? Just asking because a few years back there was Gorn skeleton in Lorca ready-room and this one was not so small as this one...
This was the "creepy" horror episode for the season, which has been quite varied. The Gorn are being given qualities of the Predators and the Xenomorphs. Which franchises became "ripoffs" of themselves a long time ago.
Overall the show seems to have potential. I’m cautiously optimistic. Anson Mount is a great captain. Spock is good and Number One has potential. Love Hemmer. Uhura is pretty good. Chief of security is trying too hard and the writers need to tone down Ortegas. Her sarcasm borders on insubordination and that pulls me out of the immersion. Otherwise I’d say if the emphasis is on good story writing and not lecturing, I’d say they got a potential hit on their hands.
Remember what the Gorn did to the crew of that starship, and what they did to her family on her world?!? Gorn are not children, they are evil killers. period.
First episode I didn't like for this show. And, really? Not very original. Star Trek vs. Alien? And losing Hemmer. Wow. Great new character and he didn't even make it thru the first season.
Wtf, another show completely destroying the Gorn. I know the very first one was terrible for today's standards but at least that Gorn made them look like a race that actually could build starships and evolve technologically. Ever since then they are nothing but raptors or lizard dogs. You can't tell me that thing could coordinate and take prisoners and fly and BUILD ships!!!!!!! Why must they do this
Your making a lot of sense. I don't understand some of these forums with this ridiculous over the top praise for this. It feels artificial. Are you watching this for real? Are you a real person? Some of these episodes were not that good
I don't know many human children who could build starships. Especially with no training from adults. But this incarnation of the Gorn is clearly being groomed to fill a common role in the space sci-fi genre that Star Trek has lacked -- the alien monster race.
