Chapel is quickly becoming one of the best characters on the show. Full of fun, speaks her mind, a bit playful, smart with humor, and has a thing for Spock but doesn't let on. I look forward to more scenes of Spock and Chapel.
As she had in tos
No offense to any blonds out there, but typically I don't get immediately enamored with blond actresses, but for some reason, this version of Nurse Chapel has me wanting to get to sick bay asap. She's got this perky, pixie, tixie mixed with moxie kind of vibe and it's infectious...in the good kind of infectious way...not the 2020 kind!
Bruh, THAT OPENING SCENE WITH HER AND SPOCK AT THE RESTAURANT IS DUMBASS FEMINISM!
They're really retconning Star Trek and they're doing their best to ruin everything
@@michaelquaid4679There are those who will insist that any new Star Trek effort adhere strictly to the precedents of the previous shows and then will criticize it for being unoriginal or lacking imagination. And yet if the show dares to venture in to new areas and delve into interesting dynamics the accusation is often leveled that it's woke b.s. or in your case, d*mba$$ feminism. To call the interaction depicted in the scene feminism reveals a thorough misperception of feminism and an inordinate desire to be unfavorable towards the show solely for the sake of simply articulating some criticism.
@@victorpradha9946 okay let's take a look at Discovery then..
With that show it became painfully obvious they were just all about pushing political propaganda agendas from the extreme LEFT.
It was no longer about adventure and a bright future for everyone.
That's why they made sure there wasn't a single straight white male anywhere on that ship.
Old school fans like me don't need them preaching at us.
And look at the ratings for that show. It got lower and lower every season.
The quiet majority of America doesn't like it. I'm not sure about the ratings for strange new worlds.
But it's barely any better than Discovery in my opinion. And that's NOT SPOCK.
He's like some C grade spock from a parallel universe
"Humans are almost as easy to tease as Vulcans."
I present irrefutable evidence that Spock has a highly underrated sense of humor.
They are very subtle, but he does joke pretty often.
As shown at the end of Enemy Within, when Spock teased Janice Rand about the dark characters of Kirk after the transporter split them in two.
And Spock has always had game.

I really like this scene.
Bushes portrayal of Chapple is amazing. The obvious unrequited feelings she harbors for Spock are painfully palpable in every sentence she utters, her mannerisms betraying her true feelings to anyone but a Vulcan.
Chapel and Spock actually have chemistry. I loved the head smack.

Espero que no se cierre del todo Spock y le de oportunidad conocer a Chapel y su lado humano de él.
I love their chemistry so much.
I'm a Star Trek fan from way back watching reruns of TOS with my parents back in the 70's, and gotta tell you that I'm really enjoying this show...hope they continue to hold on to the magic they've captured in these early episodes!

Get someone to look at you the way nurse chapel looks at spock 😏
The casting and the characters on this show were really strong out the gate.
You can mix and match the characters with whoever, because their chemistry is so strong.
Love this version of Chapel. She's bubbly but her humor is smug and morbid at times, and the actress is totally pulling it off.
So you want people to be like this in the 23rd century?

@@desertsoldier41 I'm asking if after making it to the stars, is she what we hope humans will be like?
@@O1OO1O1 what’s wrong with her?
@@David-fq1io the better question is, what is 23rd century about her? She seems like someone from our society. Most of them do.
Una seems to be the most Starfleet of them all.
I'm very pleased that they're doing justice to Chapel as an individual character and not reducing her to just a lady hopelessly pining for Spock. It's a pleasure having a properly complex, multi-dimensional Chapel.
This show is way better than discovery! The cast is so much more engaging and relatable.
So is Spock 🖖...
You actually like people like this? Explains a lot
I agree. The discovery show is horrible
This series is my absolute favorite, Anson is doing a miraculous job and brings lightness & gravitas (Best Captain going), there's a sparky, intriguing dimension to the Spock/Chapel (for God's sake let her meet several other guys and have some noticeable fun -the white hair/uniform is genius), Spoke/T'Prin, Christina Chou, the whole crew. Hoping they'll do more with the fabulous Una and her background (Rebecca's a raving beauty - get her out of that ugly babyshit, NBC-60's mustard gold outfit, and some different hairdos - make her blonde for a while.) The ship looks gorgeous. The episodic structure is freeing. Do hope there's no too much Jim Kirk, and let new characters emerge. Would like Scotty or Sulu appearances. Can't wait for Season 2.
In fairness, Discovery has the heavier lift as a rolling narrative. So much epic saving the universe plotlines in two eras 900+ years apart. Big disasters to deal with. So much sustained creative invention must have been amazing and totally exhausting. Challenge not to run out of gas. Great, fresh super-charming crew, fresh challenges without canon problems or fall backs. Finding new era Starfleet and its Admin less than compelling. Finding footing. Took time to warm up to Michael (the character-the actress is great.) Think Book character who started so great, is veering off as an obsessive but hope I'm wrong. Enjoy Tully, Doug Jones' character (no idea how he does that), Shazad Latif, Anthony Rapp, his doc partner, the two kids. Early on, crazy, bitter little brother Spock with beard was an interesting introduction with Ethan Peck. Think he found his feet as Strange New Worlds Spock in that 2-parter short with Number 1 Rebecca in stalled elevator.
The SNW cast is light years ahead the STD crew, it's not even comparable
I really like that they put her in the vintage Chapel updo and a little mod 60s dress for this scene.
That was nice. The tell doesnt appear until spock mentions the joke about chapel's rival not repeating the mistake. Then the crack about her actual feelings appear. This is borderline flirt/frienship and I am almostready to start shipping these two. Good energy goot acting on the actors part
Jess Bush is doing Majel Barret proud without trying to "portray" her in any way.
Also good on her, the directors and costume people not shying away from prominently showing her scars. I had trouble verifying they weren't cosmetic for Chapel they are photographed so rarely prior to SNW.
Scars? I was wondering what those were. First guess -- (not exactly) love bites from the Malamute?
@@nicksambides2628 No idea what they are from but they are clearly scar tissue.
Bucktooth Vampire.
They look like Keloid scaring, which a a thick, raised scar.
Spock continues to joke with her.
Spock:"We'll bang okay?"

Spock:"What?"
Stone Cold Steve Austin: “WHAT?” 😂
Commander Shepherd leaps out of nowhere and punches Spock in the face.
This is my favourite episode of the series and one of my favourite of all Star Trek.
I was just about the write the same thing. This is really one of the best episodes of Star Trek ever.
I loved the part where the Vulcan's were having sex, casually. Really captured their alien diversity.

Jess Bush is a beautiful lady. Her Christine Chapel catches my eye in every scene she's in.
A nice scene and made me smile
AND this version of Christine is ALSO smitten with Spock. But nice enough to help anyway. AND nearly flawlessly gorgeous!
Who’s back after 2x05 😂
Jess Bush is SO GOOD! And the internet is right: There’s never been a bad Spock actor 😌
Ohhh Those Chapel Eyes!
Spock likes Chemistry. Great scene.😊
Dammit, Spock! Why do you have to marry T'Pring? Not that she's not great, but this thing with Chapel is sooooooo goooood. He's not supposed to end up with her, but I WANT them to so bad!!!
Ship it! It clearly WILL happen.
Watching TOS, I always (granted, I was a kid) shipped Spock/Uhura. Watched the TOS films where Uhura/Scotty appear to be a Thing, and I found I really liked that too. Flash forward a couple decades, I go see the Kelvin movies where Spock/Uhura is canon, and I loved every second of it. Now, we've got Spock with T'pring (and they have some chemestry so I can see where Spock thought this was endgame for him), Spock with Chapel (the CHEMISTRY!), plus Spock and La'an (shared trauma, a similar background of always being the odd one out cause of your genetics, the new hope/home in Starfleet), and we've got Spock with Uhura (a little more subtle than he & C's chemistry but it's still there plus at this point she's still his subordinate to a point it would feel a little icky if they were mega Heart-Eying each other), and I could happily watch all of them, and am having a hard time picking who I'd like to see as endgame. (I guess technically, if we go Kelvin- canon is Uhura, if we go to the TOS films then canon puts Uhura with Scotty while Spock stayed solo.)
@@MorriganWarrioress how the hell do you get Uhura with Scotty? That's NEVER even implied in TOS films.
@@andytay5507 When she brings him dinner, and affectionately strokes the side of his face, to which he smiles down at her and I believe calls her an affectionate name (honey/dear/darling). I can't remember if it's the one with Sybok or the one where they go back in time, I just remember the scene really well though. Scotty was one of my three favourites from TOS (Bones is always my fave, in any universe/timeline, followed by Spock) and I always liked Uhura, so I liked the pairing even if it did sort'a come out of left field.
PS: There is no need to swear. We are simply discussing potential plot lines for a TV series.
@@MorriganWarrioress I've been watching ST since 66, and I don't recall that scene or any where Uhura strokes Scott's face. Please try to be more specific if possible. I don't recall in in TVH, nor TFF.

“What are friends for?”
“… What ARE friends for?”
“That was a rhetorical, Spock.”
“Oh, I know. Humans are almost as easy to tease as Vulcans.”
Favorite moment in what has since become one of my all-time favorite scenes in SNW. Brilliant acting and chemistry between Mr. Peck and Ms. Bush.
This has to be a totally different Chapel from TOS. Majel's Chapel had no idea about T'Pring and this whole thing in TOS 😄 Spock had to explain it to her
Chapel in TOS didn't know about Pon Farr, which makes sense if it only happens once every seven years. Whether or not she knew about T'Pring is debatable.
are we really complaining about a point in Star Trek that might break continuity? This is Star Trek we are talking about, how many times did they do something that contradict Continuity? Heck, even what many consider the best movie of the franchise, the Wrath of Khan broke TOS continuity, How did Khan knew Chekov from his previous appearance in TOS, when Chekov wasnt even on the Enterprise when Khan appeared in TOS (something which Both Walter Koening and Nicholas Meyers mentionned in the past) If we start looking at every time a Star Trek project contradict another part of a Star Trek project, we still gonna be here next week. After 56 years, some contradictions may happened, dont you think?
@@DarkAnon100 Agreed. Nitpickers gonna nitpick.
This is the beauty of science fiction, maybe chapel memory will be erased that is including having knowledge of who T'Pring is.
Need I point out the halloween episode and spock's brain as forgettable episodes. Imagine having to follow those guidelines. Nurse Chapel was very much a background character there. You cannot be restricted by the narrow original series. This also could be an alternate reality.
UH-OH - did y'all see those final looks from Nurse C at Spock, eyeing Spock and her sly smile?!?! She is falling in luuuuvvvvvv with Spock.
Kind of reminds you of Star Trek: Enterprise T'Pol and Trip Tucker, glad they are taking a page out of that playbook.
Binge watched the first season over the weekend, she's already fallen for him. Never heard of her or most of the characters prior to watching this. Didn't watch the original series that much
She looks gorgeous here!
I am sorry but I really enjoy this Spock a bunch. :)
No apology needed, this Spock is an absolute delight.
Yo amo a este Spock ,espero que se vea mas de su vida
This scene is brilliantly managed. It shows a depth of character not allowed for in TOS. Some argue that it is not according to canon. I think that is false. It pre-dates Kirk. The style of captaincy is intended to be different. Pike allows for discussion and informality. His style is more akin to paternal ..with bad dad jokes thrown in. Yes the crew act differently, but that is encouraged and not just suffered.
The writing may not be the strongest or the most faithful, but the cast and the acting is simply perfect.
I also think Christine Chong is very underrated!
Chapel is great!
The one person in fiction - or real life - who would arch an eyebrow and say "lol" in that same tone.
OH GODS I'D GIVE ANYTHING TO SEE THAT!
she just gave Spock a gibb slap from NCIS
Totally, from the lighter side of Gibbs,😆
Yes she did haha 🤣
I was thinking the exact same thing, pongo. Classic Gibbs slap!
You're exactly right that's exactly what it was., and she did it because she cares about him enough to actually smack him upside the head
Mr. Spock got game.
Spock used to rip into McCoy all the time. NIce to see him teasing Chapel too.
I was not fully convinced at first, but after second glances... damn the Chappel actress is hot, she is unusually attractive. Never imagined myself "shipping" characters, but I want Spock and her to end up together, they have chemistry

A funny Spock…. I like it. T’Pring is growing on me to. Those two are cute together!
Spock in the original series was always making jokes and sarcastic comments.
Growing like a metastatic cancer.
" I had a terrible dream last night that I had to fight my human side".... James T kirk is his human side :)
It'd be funny if she did this with Data, and he thought it was a custom, and he smacked her across the room in return.
That wouldn't be funny in any universe that I can imagine...it would be stupid and cruel
Nurse Chapel 😍😍😍
I like he claims he had to fight his human, when in the dream "Human Spock" was the viewpoint character, and he was attacked by "Vulcan Spock".
Are the writers hinting at something? 🤔
Best scenes without the "s" next time. Best scene
You sly 'very old/vulcanised years of course', fox Mr Spock,🖖 ,😎
She is very beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This guy is my favorite Spock sans Nimoy.
This is a cute scene and I like the actress but as far as the portrayal of Christine I just don't see it. Christine always seemed very cerebral to me on the Original Series. Granted we haven't seen enough yet to see where this goes but this interpretation just seems "different". I think it does well as a "reinterpretation" of the character but as far as trying to come close to the original I'm not sure that's going to happen. The only similarity I see right now is just her "crush" if you will on Spock. I give the actress credit for trying though and maybe as the series goes on I'll view it differently. Chapel in the Original Series turned out very well. She became an MD! Per a scene in Star Trek: The Motion Picture with Kirk and McCoy. McCoy: "Well Jim I here Chapel's an MD now. I'm gonna need a top nurse. Not a doctor who'll argue every little diagnosis with me... and they probably redesigned the whole sick bay too! I know Engineers they love to change things!".
Was Chapel attacked by Andorian space-ants or something? She's got some big bumps on her left arm.
The gorn encounter left her with injuries. Maybe from the blood transfusions.
Either part of her injuries she suffered in the Gorn encounter, OR they do look like possibly her own personal actress Jess Bush real-life injuries, they look like some possible Keloid scars.
Would have been interesting if we saw, off in a distant part of the room, a figure that might be hinted at as being Guinan.
