Albo Adansonii used to be my favorite plant, until I got multiples of them and they all turned white over time for me. It got to a point where I fell out of love with it. I settled for mint adansonii's, and hasn't given me trouble.
Nice surprise. I thought you'd be too busy to film for a while. Great video, thanks Jan. Something we all needed to see. Amazing that it kept pushing out those new white leaves. I'm going to resist the temptation for now. Wonderful to see your channel growing so well, especially given you don't even ask for likes, subs, memberships etc.
Hmm, thats interesting. I had one that reverted to fully white too and after two fully white leaves, she started to push them out fully white and over ~1-2 months they got kind of mint-ish (so there was definitely some chlorophyll in there) and thrived like that.
About 1.5 years ago, these single leaf cuttings were $1,000+ in Korea. 😂 Now you can find them for $50. I was given a mint Asansonii (single leaf) as a gift for purchasing another plant.
Don't give up. I've had a spathiphyllum Ishimi from a tiny seedling and it's grown mainly white. I've had her for four years now and it's stunning. It looks like lace from a few metres away. They all deserve the chance of survival.
I’m imagining that it took a lot of time and effort to complete this video on your end but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the full process from start to finish in the one short video. Thanks
Congrats on blowing past 100k subscribers...! Well deserved. You have become *the* TH-cam authority on growing large aroids on a moss pole. So happy to have found your channel.
Congratulations on reaching a 100k🎉🎉 Really appreciate Allen the time and effort you put into the videos! I experienced that with a syngonium Albo,I mean it looks stunning,,but lucky it was a bigger plant and I had to chop it all up to go back to stable variegation! I,m glad you didn’t edit out that funny bit,it’s even funnier that you didn’t skip a beat! 🤣🤣🤣 Natalie
Wow that monstera grew a lot in 7 weeks. Thanks for showing us the video update, very helpful to see. I want to do the the same with a monstera plant but I want half of it to go into water and half to stay in soil.
Great lesson. While I love the variegated look, I'm not interested in spending $ on a plant that could totally revert or go all white. Thx also for not editing out the scissor drop, that was a fun moment lol
Mine was like this too for a year till i change my soil mix to somewhat rich but still well draining. I put cow manure in it and some potting mix and now it is giving me a lot of green😄
I bought my variegated Adansonii back in 2020 when it cost 1500€ for a 4 leaf plant. Guess what happened when I propagated it after it turned white after only 8 leafs. 6/8 propagations came out completely white from the beginning... And the 2 that didn't I was able to propagate a dozen times and I still own a piece of them today with the most beautiful variegation.
@@sydneyplantguy yeah and I have learned quite a bit. As soon as the plant goes from freckled variegation to halfmoon, it's pretty much 50/50 whether the newest leaf will come out completely white or completely green. Same with new shoots. When the variegation in the stem is pretty much 50/50 like in your old adansonii, and the new growth point is in the white part, you can expect that it is going to come out completely white from the beginning.
Many plant enthusiasts I know who own Monstera Adansonii Var have their plants turned all white. Mine has turned white and at one point, I propagated them into a few different pots. One of the pots turned out to have its variegation come back with 70% green and 30% white. But then it couldn’t retain in the long run and it has now turn back to all green. It was one of my most pricey plants when I bought it about a year ago and thus I am not giving up on them just yet😅. I am trying all that I could to bring it back😊. By the way, I am writing this from Malaysia.
I once have a problem like that with my adansonii albo..the solution I came up with for that is by giving it more natural sunlight it may start white or yellow but if you give it more sunlight the leaves will develop more green eventually. It's just base on my experience but maybe you can try to...by the way I love all your plants especially the P. Glorious, good luck with the adansonii
I'm just shocked how fast the plants are growing for you :D I have my Adansonii for 2 months and it legit only gave me 1 new leaf. But are you getting like 8 leaves in 1 month, that's just insane 😂 Loved the video, hope your new cutting will do better :)
Glad to show this video to my wife, explaining how I "saved" 4000€ that I now can invest in other plants (and growlights... so that I'm I interested in. Perhaps yoy can do a colab with someone using lots of different kinds?)
My albo is doing the same thing. Bought as two leaves… predominantly green but now I’m 🌕. I’m glad I watched bc I’ve been itching to chop, but I think I’m going to wait
I've been growing one from a single node cutting since August and I have no clue what affects its growth. Bought as a bit of a gamble for 10 euros, it started with an all green leaf. It is since pushing out its 3rd variegated leaf that comes out all cream and slowly turns more green starting at the veins. I suspect it to be the archipelago variety, but will need to confirm as it grows, so far it seems to have excellent genetics, living on room temperature and humidity between 50 and 70%. A much slower grower than the regular green one, but I would recommend the archipelago, if that's what mine is :)
❤I love you ... originally from Canada but now live 10:23 in Columbia SC. I'm a world traveler. I have a beautiful butterfly garden and venture out into Monstera's and all of super huge plants you are schooling me on! You don't know me and you probably don't care...but, I love you and I thank you for everything I have learned.
Je ne comprends pas tout ce que vous dites, les finesses de votre langue, mais vois que vous faites vraiment au mieux. Bravo ! Même blanche à 99%, la plante est superbe 😉
Congratulations on 100K!!! 🎉🍾 and thank you for not editing out the shears drop 🤣 I had to rewind that a few times. Thank you for the laugh!! And another laugh when Edward Scissor Hands made an appearance 🤣 love this video!
Congrats on you 100K🥳🥳🤩 I have a M. Standleyana that put out 5 white leaves an then a leaf with green an white. I saw a video where M. Albos totally white cut back back an it’s a new color of Monstera Albo. Sean’s Only Plants I think is where I saw it. 💚
This same thing is happening to me with my variegated Alocasia. I bought 2 large beautiful established plants with mottled leaves, and when I repotted them and collected some corms to grow and sell, 80% of the corms are growing fully white leaves. It's making me so mad 🤣
variegation isn't random! the more light you provide the less green the plant needs on it for photosynthesis. if you want more green you should give it a bit less light
I have an albo syngonium and a variegated maranta that both, constantly throw out white leaves! Also an alocasia macrorrhiza that puts out all white sectoral leaves that melt so I have half brown leaves all the time. I’m so over trying to keep these plants surviving. I spend more time and energy on these plants, than any other plant in my collection…including my calathias!! Plus I have over 200 plants and these plants are a “thorn in my ass”
My next step after all the cuts died would be to de-pot, cut every root off and cut into nodes assuming there are a few nodes below the soil line. I put the nodes in moss in a prop bin. If no growth after that then I would call it quits. But there’s always hope… :-)
Have you tried giving it less light? I have a syngonium albo that completely gave out white leaves, moved it to a low light area, anx somehow managed to bring the green ones back. :) maybe you can do the same!
I have an adansonii with one half green, half white, and then it shot out 3 100% whites, no green in the stem. I think im just going to cut it and hope for the best. The original cutting stem is nice.

At home I'm facing a curiousity. The leaf color of my Anthurium Faustino Giant is different. Of the 16 seedlings ( which are still cute and tiny ) that are emerging from the ground, there are 5 ones that appear white ( the stems and the leaves are white like the color of your white Monstera Adansonii ). I already have one with a mature size (green Anthurium) so I'm curious now...Could it be that the white color of the stems and the leaves since they were very tiny is a sign that my Anthurium will become white?.. This is my first experience, so I'm so happy to know their growth later.. Jan...😊Thank you soo much for everything!.. I'm soo proud of you!.❤️.. Happy 100 K subscribers!!..👏👍😊..and I love you, Brad 😻👏 CONGRATULATIONS!!!!...👏🙌🎉💞❤️💐🌸🥰💚🤗😊🎉..

Hi jahn! Ever thought of doing a pop up for your fans all over the world? That would be great!!!
Ah this video just popped up as a suggestion just when i have the same 'issue'. Thank you
Oh no! I was very hopeful watching this video to save the plant. Curious to know if the gifted plant survived🥲

It's a company called Grow Vertical. More about them in the description :)
Thank You 😊
In order to get better verigation you need to cut before the last healthy verigated leaf. Unfortunately you're plant doesn't have another node before the first leaf.
There is some green in the back of the stem, only chance of green would have been if the new growth comes out from that part which it didn’t :/
They really are beautiful plants. Unfortunately, it's sucking the life out of itself by not producing any green. Hopefully you're able to get another cutting and this one will start producing a good mix of green and variagation.
